We are pleased to offer this wonderful. Antique, Victorian, Art Nouveau era, ceiling tin. This beautiful tin features a rare design. The focal point is a nude nymph surrounded by grape clusters, leaves and vines. The grape vines provide for a semi sheathed dress. This gorgeous tile came from an old hotel in Salisbury, Missouri, which is north of St. Louis. The hotel was constructed in the 1880s and was one of the first businesses in the town. The ceiling tin is in very good condtion. It has been mounted on wood as a wall plaque. It has been protected from the elements and has very little rust. The old paint and antique varnish are still very nice and mostly intact. The color is a dark oatmeal or brownish tan. The relief on the tin is very deep and there is a lot of texture. Nice primitive wood frame with some imperfections to give it that shabby look(small dings. Some splits) and character. Back is rusted as expected with a piece this age. Only flaw is one screw for the hanger chipped a small piece of the wood but hardly noticible. Measures 14 1/8" x 14 1/8" in the frame. The tile itself is 12 1/4" x 12 1/4" and held in place with 7 screws. Looks like one is missing as their is a hole to the metal in one corner but still very secure in the frame. Artist PJM made these works of art by repurposing 12" square original salvaged antique ceiling tiles. Each is wrapped around and stapled to a wood frame. So they can be hung straight or on a diagonal. This is for ONE(1) ceiling tile, but four(4) are available and all are different(please see pictures) All are approximately 10.75" square and 1" thick. These are antiques. Complete with chippy paint, which may contain lead. They have been sealed with a clear lacquer, but original paint can still chip off if rubbed or too much pressure is applied. 100+ Yr Old Vtg/Antique Tin Ceiling Tile Coat Rack Wall Mountable~Barn Red~47"
Coat Rack made from 100 plus years old ceiling tin trim. Gorgeous raised design. The black hooks are also vintage and have been painted. This coat rack is 47" long x 7" high. Formed over a wood board. This rack is wall mountable. The best, most secure way to mount would be to drill a hole at each side and attach to wall with 2 1/4" or longer screw. Screw heads can easily be painted. Color is called Tuscan Red, available wherever craft paints are sold. A few of the small raised ovals are pushed in and there are a few slight distressed marks but who wouldn't look a little distressed after more than 100 years.
