They lined the ceilings of the corner pharmacy.movie houses.furniture stores.etc. As the years went by and the old stores were torn down to make way for the new ones.these old tins were relegated to the trash heaps in many cases. Now all these years later they have become VERY popular in all manner of interior designs. And Collectible ... moreas historical Precious pieces of Americana. The man who does these is from Oklahoma! He travels all over the United States salvaging as many of these old ceiling tins as he can. He then stencils a Southwest figure on them. This tin features 3 cowboys on horseback. Some of the old chippy paint can still be seen on the borders. He just blackens the center frame around the figures. It's a wonderful visual effect!
