RARE BRONZE VASE ARCHAIC ANTIQUE ANCIENT BURIAL URN VESSEL INDIAN BUDDHA ART VTG
DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT BELIEVE IT'S VERY OLD! LARGE VASE OR POT ARCHAIC URN VESSEL RITUAL BURIAL POT VASE BRONZE COPPER BRASS BUDDHA INDIAN? Smiling woman with long braided hair holding up her dress or gown. Possibly to show the colorful beauty or maybe she's curtseying, just don't know. I looked online for what this might be and I have no clue-can't find it anywhere. The old ladies home this came out of was said to have picked this up many years ago from a local Odd Fellows Rebeka's Hall. If that's accurate and it was used in the rituals or somehow was part of this order. That could put it any time after mid 1800's, though I think it could be older. I have no reason to believe that this is some kind of reproduction. I think it's bronze, a magnet does not stick to it and when you knock on it, it sounds ... morelike metal. It looks like pottery or cement, but doesn't sound like it and the walls are not thin, but not thick enough too be as sturdy as it is if it was made of pottery. I just know what material it is for sure. If it was pottery of some type, you would think it would have chipped by now and there are no chips. The patina that appears is rough, green& brown and resembles a growth like rust. When you look down inside, you can see a layer of something along the bottom, maybe just dirt or some kind of residue build-up and this build-up material is cracked in 2 places long ways across but the cracks are not in the bottom of the vessel. While searching the internet, I found these words that had some image or something associated with elements that slightly resembled parts of this item: Tibet. KWAN YIN. DUNHUANG FAIRY, HAN DYNASTY, CHINESE ART, MING, Gautama Buddha. Shakyamuni. SIDDHARTHA. Avalokitesvara. Boddhisatva. Wine Pot? Measures 20 inches high. 17 inches across widest part(her mid section) around 7 inches inside pot at widest point front to back and the mouth inside diameter is 3 inches. It would be great if all you antiquities experts out there would educate me about this ancient vessel that I know nothing about. Please email me and give me your opinion. I took it to my antique lamp man in Old Decatur downtown@ Inglis House on Bank Street and he said that he could guarantee me it was old. Very old, but he didn't have any idea where it was made. I told him I was hoping Paul Revere made it, or perhaps it came from Mesopotamia or from Biblical times. He said he didn't know, but it could be European but this was not his field of expertise. Purchased at the Estate Sale of an elderly lady who had to be moved to a nursing home for her own comfort and safety. Her two retired daughters couldn't tell me anything about the pitcher, or vessel with a handle. Known for her savvy antique buying, this elderly lady had a house ... morefull of things I had never seen in my entire life of antiquing, junking, flea marketing. She had a beautiful linen press that was probably from the late 1700's. The estate sale was more like an unguided museum tour rather than an estate sale. Her stuff was just magnificent. Also on the model are ornate horses or some sort of four legged creature. These objects are incredibly rare and this particular one is gorgeous with a well aged patina. Small Antique Bronze Elephant Statue Figure FINE DETAIL Signed. For your consideration is this very finely detailed bronze elephant. The underside is signed as you can see in the picture however I do not know what language it is. And definitaly cannot read it. There is some damage to the natural"bone" tusks. One is missing the tip and has some redish discoloration, while the other is short like it was sawed off, however the patina/color leads me to believe it was made this way to replicate the domestic elephant which typically has the tusks shortened for the safety of people. Also noticable is glue around the base of the tusks. Perhaps original, or maybe they came loose years ago and someone reglued them? The figure stands roughlt 4 1/2 inches tall. Roughly 5 1/2 inches long, and about 2 1/2 inches thick. It is very heavy for size, ... morethough it is hollow as I can hear something inside when I move it around.
