The little boy has apparently released his cricket from under the woven basket that his left hand now leans on. There is a red lacquer signature plaque on the base. Bearing one Japanese character. An old repair shows clearly on my photos. At one time the left hand, basket and the leaf that joins basket and knee were broken away.they have been repaired and reglued well, but a better job could certainly be done. Photos taken outside in cloudy afternoon light. Looks fabulous! A bit of wear. A few spots, and some of the blue wool rags shows small holes(2nd last photo) No repairs. There are loose black threads throughout, used to sew the rags into strips for weaving. There are less on the side that seems to have been up; likely the threads came off through use. But the rug shows little use- looks wonderful! This rug came out of a VERY dusty old attic, and really needs cleaning. That attic held many other long-forgotten antique hooked and rag rugs. Antique 19th Century MISSION Victorian Brass & Cut Glass OIL LAMP Font NICE
I was told this is an antique whale oil lamp font. It looks like one of those old french oil lamps to me. I'm not a lamp expert! It measures 5" tall from where the burner screws on to the bottom. It is 3 1/2" diameter across the bottom. The brass and the glass are quite heavy and the diamond pattern has been cut into the glass. Not pressed. The glass is perfect with no cracks or chips or scratches. The brass has some tarnish on it, but hey, it's old. The part that the burner screws onto is exactly 1" outside diameter. It has 2 numbers on the glass on the bottom, or a symbol and a number. The first number or symbol is unreadable because the glass design cuts into it. I have for sale a Victorian pub Ale glass or Rummer dating to 19 th century. The glass stands 13.5 cm(5.25 inches) high. Has a rim diameter of 7.5 cm and a foot diameter of 7 cm. The glass has a bucket shaped bowl and a capstan stem. The foot is plain with visible gadget marks. It is made of heavy. Hand blown English lead glass of nice colour and dates to approx. 1880. The cameo is in the form of flowers and leaves in naturalistic form and this extends around the front half of the vase. To the reverse is a butterfly shown in close up in image 6 for you. This vase is very unusual; it is glass but is decorated to look like a Greek teracotta vase- the base is white glass and the burnt orange is painted on top. The gladiator is painted in enamel paint so has a slightly raised effect like a cameo. The vase is in perfect condition and measures 21 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter. An attractive late 19th Century Bohemian double overlaid tumbler. It has delicate purple overlay which covers most of the body although the glass is clear at the rim. The outer overlay is white and this has been painted with floral details. The white has been cut back in various panels to show the purple beneath. The base shows the purple glass only and has been star cut. The rim is step cut from the body and has gilt bands. They come in many varieties and a collection can make a very attractive display. The were often sold as tourist ware to wealthy Victorian travellers for which the spa towns of the Bohemian region were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Bohemian antique 19th century overshot gilded glass goblet - Harrach 7 7/8" tall
For auction a beautiful antique 19th century Bohemian overshot glass goblet. This is in excellent condition. The gilding is remarkable and mostly intact. The glass is heavy and the base rim is nearly 5mm thick. The base is domed and the rim of the base is cut. Bevelled and polished. There is one absolutely minute fleabite on the inner edge of the base rim. It is impossible to photograph this because it is so minute and because of the design of the glass. It is negligible. The goblet measures 7 7/8" tall by 3 1/2" diameter. Payment to be made within 3 days of auction win please. Up for auction is this amazing lead light window with large beveled diamonds that is simple yet extemely elegant. This beautiful antique lead glass window from an estate is in as found condition. The overall measurements are: approx 12 1/8 H" x 13 5/8"W. The beveled diamond shapes are large. And measure approx 3 1/2"L x 2" W. The angle of the bevel measures approx 1/2" and the frame itself measures about 1/4" thick and is made of metal. There is no damage to the glass, but there is a piece on the frame trim that has a small amount of damage(see pic) There is one arched piece that is working loose from the frame as would be expected with an antique piece. The glass is all original with no cracks or chips, and the unbeveled glass appears to be wavy which would date this to the 19th century. Antique Large Glass Domed Flower Arrangement, 19th Century
You are bidding on an antique Blown Glass Domed Dried Flower Arrangement from the 1880’s Victorian Era. Flower are roses. One white and one red, but dried and faded. These arrangements were gifts for special occasions such as weddings, births or deaths, and were displayed for years. Recent“Downton Abbey” episodes had a similar piece on the mantel in the library. This is a large glass dome with a hard pliable bottom(likely a form of paper board) that is painted green on inside and is brown on bottom side. This is a gorgeous pair of antique mantle lustres. They are 10" tall with 8" and 7 1/4"prisms. Each piece has 12 cut crystal prisms. They are of 2 different prisms. Alternating on these very special lustres. The shape is so pretty on the top, sort of a waterfall effect. Very shapely bases measuring 5" across. They have some minor nicks and chips on the prisms, nothing noticable to look at them however. These put out such a gorgeous rainbow colors when light is shining through them, and they have so many faccets, it's almost all the time. Each weighs 5 lbs. Fantastic rare probably Moser lustres.

Both were called Kugels, though we think only one is. We are stumped on the other, both look to be 19th century pieces. We are putting them up in separate auctions, check them both out. This is the first of the two. It is a silvered glass German Christmas Kugel. 15.5" circumference(5" across approx. great top. For those not familiar with Kugels. We looked up Kugels and found this information on the Christmas ch site on the internet(great site! What is known as kugels are the ancestors of the later Christmas glass ornaments. Kugel is the German word for sphere or ball. In Germany kugels are usually called Biedermeierkugeln what refers to their time of origin. Namely the Biedermeier period(about 1830) At that time German glassmakers started a tradition which lasted almost until to the beginning of World War I. One way to identify kugels is by their enormous thickness of glass. This may go from one up to five millimeters.
