These artifacts are almost entirely the work of French prisoners held by the British in the period of 1800-15 and they were made out of animal bone scraps. Hi. For sale a beautiful antique carved ox? bone keepsake, trinket box or chest. There are two latches that close the chest on the front and they are ornate. They kind of look like owls. There are three ornate hinges on the back. It is a very heavy piece that is 9 inches in width and close to 3 inches in heigth It is has deep purple velvet on the inside and is all intake but is faded in some spots. There is carved brass ornate designs on the top of the chest that has flowers and vines. In the middle on the top there is a mirror image of triangular brass designs with flowers leaves and designs. The bottom has five felt pads to keep from scratching your furniture or the chest. It is hand made and varnished with lots of work put into it. 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Bowl measures 11 inches in diameter. When on the stand. Bowl stands 8.5” tall. I fill the bowl with popourri. But of course, it could be filled with candy or something else. This piece really makes a statement! Although the bowl has some beige coloring in the middle, the beige color can't be seen when bowl is full. The carved edges are completely white. The bowl rests on an ornate stand. Made of either bronze or brass, as magnet doesn’t stick. I bought this at an antique shop and don’t know much about it. To me. The stand appears to be quite old and hand made. As to why I think base is“handmade” The“circular” part of the stand appears to be soldered to the“legs” see photo) Also. The words“made in italy” appear to have been etched into the base and the fact that only the word“made” is clearly legible ... moreat this point is an indication(in my opinion) that the stand is pretty old. However. I’m not an antiques expert, and I could be wrong. There are no flaws in brass or bronze base. As to the marble“bowl” There is only one very small chip, which I have captured in the last photo. The close-up makes the chip look much worse than it is; please note the close-up shows some black dirt. Which I have cleaned off with soap and water. I’m 99% sure the bowl is made of marble. As alabaster is softer, and this bowl is quite hard. Please be aware this bowl will be expensive to ship as it is quite heavy. This shoe appears to be a very Yellow/Gold color. The first few pictures are not as accurate for color. It is marbled. However, and the color varies throughout. It is 7" x 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" high. The weight is 2 lbs 10 oz. And I believe it is solid marble, or stone. It is possible that it's a composite? There are no maker's marks. Country of origin, etc. Bought at an Estate Sale, I was told it had belonged to the mother as far back as her children could remember, and possibly belonged to grandparents. The family said it was always used as a doorstop. The hole is very odd. And I can't imagine why someone may have drilled into the side? Antique Hand Carved Bone/Ivory Baby Rattle
Intricate antique hand carved bone/ivory baby rattle. We are not sure if it is carved from bone or from ivory. This antique baby rattle appears to be of oriental origin. There are no identification markings but clearly the carvings were done from someone very talented and patient. There appears to be a repair but done quite nicely. The round on the very top has some pieces missing. There is a nice little bell rattle sound coming from inside when you shake it. There is green twine tied on the end of the rattle so one could possibly hang it up. Rattle measures 4 1/4" long with the round top to be 1 1/2" Acquired from a New Hampshire Estate Sale.

It has a handle(brass ornate) on the top with vertical wires in the front. It is footed and stands 13" tall and is 10.5" wide by 8.25 deep at the top. Bowl consists of soapstone,or resin-like material,and is extremely heavy! The carving design appears to be of Oriental origin.Consisting of flowers,foliage and scroll-like decor with a glaze-like overlay. The bowl is very heavily carved and highly decorated! ANTIQUE VICTORIAN GILT SILVER OVERLAY HORN VASE This is an antique horn vase decorated with gilt silver metal filigree on animal(poss cow) horn. This is NOT sterling. The vase is made up of three separate horns cut at different sizes. It measures 7 1/2" H x 5" W. The largest of the three horns has a blue mark on the side that is very faint. It is something I only noticed when I took the photograph& mention it only for the sake of accuracy. Also the largest horn has an oblique line at the very tip that may have been an old repair~~not sure. No other issues to report. Smoke free home. Really nice item. Careful shipping. Thanks~Tawny

They have a BEAUTIFUL and colorful pearl luster on the interior of the bowl with deep carving on the outside. I used these to display antique MOP buckles and buttons but I think they were serving pieces- possibly salts? So pretty and unusual!

This is stunning piece with the figure behind domed glass which has a nicely detailed gold tone metal surround. The hand carved dancer has wonderful detail to it. This is in very good vintage condition with only signs of wear on the back of the plaque. beautiful french antique Dieppe carved crucifix, Napoleon III era
Up for auction is a beautiful. Authentic french antique Dieppe carved crucifix. The Christ figure has been carfully carved from 3 pieces of precious material(body + 2 arms) The details of the carving are remarkable; the eyes and face of the figure are full of expression. The darkened or blackened wood frame suggests that this dates to the Napoleon III period. Condition is very good: the figure has a lovely patina due to its age. And amazingly, all of the delicately-carved fingers are still present. The micro pinky-toe of the left foot has been chipped as well as a thorn or two from the crown(very hard to see) The wood frame has a time-worn look, but is still in good shape. There is a marking at the foot of the cross indicating that it probably used to be inserted into some kind of base. The crucifix measures 10.5 inches tall. Antique 1886 Italian Hand-Carved SOLID CARRARA MARBLE URN Academy of Fine Arts
For your consideration is this spectacular hand carved Italian carrara marble lidded urn. The urn was carved from a single block of marble and measures approx. 14.5" tall and 12" across at the widest point. The interior measures about 4.5" in both diameter and depth. The base is 7" diameter. This piece weighs over 45 lbs and will be bubbled wrapped. Packed in peanuts and double boxed for safe delivery. Please check the shipping costs prior to bidding. It is also available for local pickup in Maryland, south of Annapolis. The 128 year old urn is in excellent condition. Smooth as butter, and has never been exposed to weather. The pictures will show two very small chips on the inside lip where the lid fits down onto the urn. The underside of the lid also has a chip as shown. You can see and feel the tool marks on the base ... moreand the interior. According to a type written note that was found inside the urn. It was hand carved by Oreste Torre in 1886 during his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy. In 1940, Torre gave the urn to Dr. Bernard Ficarra who was serving his internship at the King's County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Our research confirms that Dr. Ficarra was a surgeon in NY until his death in 2005. Ficarra wrote a book- p art memoir. Part medical history- called"Virtue Lost: Virtue Found" in which he relates tales of friends and patients, illness and recovery, sorrow and joy, adversity and triumph. With incredible detail, Dr. Ficarra recalls personal, social, and medical history, and offers some invaluable and timeless advice on life along the way.
