This auction is for one Deco style picture frame on stand. Grey painted wood. Frame can be tilted. Holds a pictures 7 1/8 by 9 inches. There is a design embossed or carved on the front of the frame. The back is plain and only partly painted. There is wear to the paint the base. Mainly the two ends. NO GLASS. Probably dates 1920 to 1940 time frame. ANTIQUE SMALL SQUARE CARVED OAK WOOD PICTURE FRAME BEVELED GLASS MIRROR STAND UP
Handsome small square antique oak wood and carved stand up mirror or picture frame. Measures 7 3/4" square- outside dimensions. And 4 7/8" square- inside dimensions, width of frame 1 1/2" and depth is 5/8" Wonderful small size. Wood is oak with very nice patina. Carving is actually an applied material of some sort. Perhaps a cast wax or something similar. It is hard and feels and looks like wood carving but I don't believe it is. Use your own judgement. I have seen this before on other antique frames. I believe this likely dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's. Condition: It is slightly off square. There is some slight movement when forced as you can tell by the narrow gaps at the mitered corners. Nothing major, however. There are several old small nail holes on the sides, the stand does not work securely. ... moreIt will need some adjustment or you could remove it completely to hang on the wall. The old leather backing is bubbled and overall there are a few minor nicks and surface scratches here and there, but overall, very nice condition for the age. A very pretty piece!
