This piece was ... moremade sometime in the late 1890's or early 20th Century. The condition of this server is fairly good- I did polish it but it could stand more polishing. I found tarnish cleaning technique- using a homemade tarnish dip using boiling hot water. A little salt and baking soda with aluminum foil. There is minor age appropriate scratches on this piece, and some wear to the nickel silver plate. Once cleaned up- this is a very beautiful of English electroplated nickel silver server~ please LOOK at the many photos posted for more on details on the look and condition of this piece. Included are before and after photos- before cleaned and after. First and second photos This is a medium/large size fine English Silver plated vegetable server w/ cover. This server weighs more than 6 lbs and measures about 7 inches high to the top of the handle. And is 14 ½ long- pan measures about 2 inches deep and 10 inches wide. The lid has to be pressed down to close tightly to hold in steam from hot water you would place in boiler base. This is a little bent on one edge- but hardly noticeable and doesn't hinder it too much from closing snug. Inside of serving pan has what may be some pitting. Please see all photos to consider. This server has a classic design. It features a fancy beaded(removable) handle with a scrolling design. Bottom of boiler pan is marked“JS&S” in a cartouche along with an animal form of a Beaver. And a crown. Pan insert is marked JS&S cartouche w/ Beaver and EPNS mark(electroplate nickel silver) 820 W and no crown cartouche. If you have questions- please ask. There is no reserve. I didn't want to pull out the glass; i will leave that up to the winner. This is a wood frame. The color of the frame appears to be a greenish gold color and it does appear to be the original paint on it too. There is some paint that is peeling or has chipped off. But actually not too bad after all these years. There is some very Tiny hairline cracks here and there. Some it appears to be the top layer of just only the paint, and some is in the wood. But this is to be expected over time though. Beautiful details throughout. This item is still in great shape. I don't know whom made this. I found no maker's mark.
