BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE GILT WOOD GESSO PICTURE MIRROR WALL FRAME ORNATE 24"x32" LARGE
We are pleased to offer this very beautiful. C1920, antique frame. This frame offers solid gilt wood with gesso acanthus leaf accents in the corner sections. The frame features an outer design of small cut/incised acanthus leaves. There is a unique cut pattern to the wood in the center sections of the frame which gives it a"brushed" gold appearance. The inner section features small cut beads. The frame is very European in style and design. It is very beautiful and in very good condition. There are some very minor surface cracks to the gesso, as it quite common with pieces this old. They do not extend below the surface and do not affect the stability of the gesso. They are very hard to discern except upon very close inspection. The frame does not show its age at all and the gilted finish is incredible. The frame had an old picutre ... morein it which was not in good condition. There are traces of the old paper backing to the back of the frame. The frame retains the hangers and wire. This is a nice sized frame. The outer measurements are 24" x32" The inner dimensions are 20"x26" The frame is 1.25" in thickness at the corners and.75" elsewhere. I am not an expert of art. But, I would date this print and frame to the late 19th or perhaps the early 20th century. The frame is lovely with deep well effect. There is one area on the bottom where some of the gold has chipped off, very small and hard to see as someone tried to cover it. This could easily be repaired and covered. The original back has been replaced. The print is lovely of a little bright eyed girl in what appears to be Victorian dress and hat. Overall measures 25 1/2" tall by 19 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" deep. Antique Litho Landscape Print in Gold Gilt Wood and Colored Floral Gesso Frame
This is a nice vintage framed lithograph print of a lush green landscape around sunset with a home on the water. The print is colorful but is probably faded. And the frame is excellent with only a few tiny scuffs that are difficult to see. The frame is mainly gold with a band of marbled gold and brown around the middle and clusters of gesso flowers and leaves with blue and light pink accents on all four corners. The paper backing in still intact but is taped almost all the way around the back. There is a newer metal hanger attached to the back in the middle of the top edge. The outer dimensions of the frame are 18 1/2" x 22" I will pack it very well, double box it, and insure it during shipping.

This is a fantastic antique lithograph print of a young girl playing with her teddy bear and her dog. The colors are beautiful and bold but may be slightly faded. And look excellent in the gold gilt frame. The print is slightly wavy but does not have any creases or tears, or water damage. The frame is in good condition with some small chips of gesso missing that are not obvious because they have been touched up with gold paint. The entire frame looks like it may have been re-painted at one time but still looks slightly darkened from age. The glass, print, and cardboard back panel are held snugly in place with some wooden slats that are nailed to the back with three pieces of a yard stick placed behind them. There is a wire screwed onto the back for wall hanging. Victorian Antique Wood Gesso Black & Gold Gilt Oval Picture Frame With Mirror
Early Victorian carved wood and gesso frame with mirror in an oval shape being offered in its as is condition. The design is very beautiful but unfortunately the frame has some damages as seen in all the pictures and would need some restoration. Even though it does display a certain shabby chic elegance in its current distressed condition. The frame is oval in shape and it is decorated top. Bottom and both sides with leaves, nuts and berries in a high relief. There is a chis- cross design along the inside edge and the outside section is painted black. The mirror shows some age spots and a long(cut) line that shows through, but this is to be expected on an item this old. The back of the frame is a heavy piece of wood with a rectangular opening that has curved corners inside of which the heavy and thick mirror fits. The mirror is covered with ... morea flat piece of wood which is held in place with small nails. We have not removed this wood to expose the mirror and we have left everything in its as found condition. Please look at all the pictures to see where the gesso is chipped. Early Victorian carved wood and gold gilt gesso frame with needlepoint rose bouquet framed in it. The frame is in an oval shape and it is decorated top. Bottom and both sides with high relief leaves and flowers. It measures 13" X 11 1/4" X 2" deep. The oval opening inside where a new picture or mirror can replace the needlepoint piece measures on the front 8" X 6" The frame is in good condition without any gesso missing. It does however have two stress marks or hairline cracks, one starting below the high relief central flower at the very top of the frame and going down to the end of the width of the frame and the other on the opposite side of the first at the bottom of the frame only on the inner 1/4" section by the glass. It had a print of a painting inside it that was covered with newspaper. When I removed the newspaper there was a beautiful print of a painting of a young woman inside the frame. A crowd gathered around me and several people told me who this woman was as she was a well-known local teacher in the area who is now deceased. One person in the crowd that had gathered was a student of hers many years ago, and was also a friend of this woman's family. I donated the picture to this person who said that he would return the picture to the family. From the information I received, I would guess that this frame is 1960-1970s era. When the picture was removed, it left some tape residue on the back of the frame which was still sticky. Antique Victorian Gold Gilt Wood & Gesso 8" x 10" Picture Frame with Glass
This is an antique 8x10 picture frame with elegant leafy scroll gesso accents all the way around the inside edge of the frame and beaded lattice design around the outside edge. The gold finish is aged and slightly darkened with a few greenish black spots. There is very little paint or gesso loss. Just a chip missing from one corner. The glass is intact, but I can't tell if it is original, although there is one tiny bubble in it which could indicate that it is old. There is a replacement piece of cardboard behind the glass. The screw eyes and wire are missing from the back and would need to be added before hanging the frame. Outer measurements of the frame are 12 5/8" x 10 5/8"

Antique Shabby Wood & Gold Gilt Floral Gesso 16 x 20 Picture Frame
This is a uniquely colored antique picture frame with two borders of elegant floral gesso leaves in a dark bronze color alternating with two ribbed borders in a metallic greenish gold. There are some pieces of gesso missing that have been touched up with matching paint and are not very obvious. The greenish gold borders have some dings. Scuffs, and scratches, many of which have been touched up with a gold color that doesn't quite match but is close. Most of the paint is darkened from age and there are some stains on it. The glass is a newer replacement piece and there is a new piece of cardboard and metal hanger on the back. This a fantastic shabby picture frame that is perfectly useable and would be a wonderful piece in which to display a vintage print or portrait. It holds a picture measuring 20" x 16" and can be hung horizontally ... moreas is(as shown in the photos) but the hanger can be moved or another could be added to hang the frame vertically. Antique Gilt Gesso Wood Frame with Pastel Painting of Cottage By A Stream
This listing is for an antique gilt frame with a pastel painting of a cottage by a stream. The frame measures 27.5"x15.5" And the back opening is 24"x12.25" As you can see in the photos, the frame has some damage, missing gesso. I don't see a signature on the painting, and some of the chalk dust is on the inside of the glass. I was afraid of damaging the picture, so I didn't remove it to clean the inside of the glass. Shipping is based on 20lbs packed weight, for a large size package. Because of the package size, there is no international shipping.

Antique Gilt Gesso Carved Wood Casetta Arts Crafts Picture Frame 12x16 2-Tone
We are listing a selection of antique picture frames dating from the 1840s-1970s pulled from a 30+ year old collection of historic moldings. Please see our other sales for more nice examples. This ca. 1925 frame is crafted of wood with applied laurel bands in gesso and boast an umber stained field with press-carved details and measures 17” x 21” overall with a 11 3/4” x 15 3/4” reveal and 12 1/8” x 16 1/8” back rabbet opening. Antique Gold Gilt Wood & Gesso Oval Picture Frame w/ Colored Toddler Girl Photo
This is a beautiful antique oval wood and gesso picture frame with a charming old hand colored photo of a young girl and her doll. It was framed between 1910 and 1920(It is marked on the back. But the last digit in the date is missing. The original wavy glass is intact. Frame, photo, and glass are all in very good condition. There are some small hairline cracks in the gesso, typical for the age, and some very minor light spottiness from age on the photo and frame. All damage is typical and barely noticeable. The gold on the frame looks very good and is slightly darkened from age. The outer measurements of the frame are 19 1/2" W x 26 3/4" H, and the photo measures 16" W x 20" H. Antique Victorian Gold Gilt Wood & Floral Gesso Picture Frame Red Velvet Border
This is an excellent antique Victorian picture frame with two contrasting wood and gesso borders and innermost red velvet covered border. The wide outermost border tapers down and outward and features an elegant floral leaf and scroll pattern. The middle border is rounded and looks like knotty wood with leafy vines. The innermost border is a newer replacement with soft red velvet. It is in excellent condition overall with only one small spot of missing gesso that has been touched up and is not noticeable. The remainder of the frame is free of chips. Cracks, and paint loss. All four corners are tight and from the back, they look like they were re-glued. There is no glass and no hanging wire or hanger on the back. So it could be hung horizontally or vertically depending on where a hanger is placed. Outer measurements are 25" x 28" ... moreand the opening in the back measures 15 1/2" x 18 1/2" x about 1/4" deep. It will be packed very well. Double boxed, and insured during shipping.
