And the stretcher corner braces are marked"PAT Feb 13, 1883, June 16, 1885, A.D.S. which gives a very accurate date for this frames creation! The frame is solid and in remarkable condition for one of this age, with very minor damage to the gesso and some corner baldness(see photos 2,3, and 4 for examples! Approx. 50.75" X 46.75" with each side being 4 3/8" wide, it will accommodate a 42.25" X 38" canvas! This is a very rare 19th century lemon gold picture frame with a black border. The rabbet measures approximately 11" x 8 1/2" and each side of this frame is 3 1/2" wide. This frame is very old. I would estimate it to be from the 1870s. The gold leaf paint shows spotting that is probably from oxidization or perhaps moisture. This is a two-piece frame and the black border could be removed. Antique 19th Century Victorian Wood & Gesso Picture Frame Gilt Gold with Glass
Antique Victorian picture frame made of wood and gesso. It has an ornate design with some gilt. The frame measures 14-5/8" x 17-3/4" It does come with glass that is held in by nails on the back. The glass portion measures approximately 11 inches by almost 14 inches. There is a wire attached to the back for hanging. Overall this frame is pretty good condition with most of that gesso in tact. However it does show signs of age and wear. There are some small cracks in the gesso And some old green paint along the top. The glass does have one scratch. There os a picture. Gorgeous Antique 19th Century Victorian Gold Gilt Frame
This is a truly stunning antique late 19th century Victorian gold gilt frame. This frame will bring any oil painting you have alive! The overall frame measures 22 1/8 inches x 19 5/8 inches(56.2 cm x 50 cm) The back opening measures 10 3/4 inches x 8 1/4 inches(27.3 cm x 21 cm) The width is an incredible 6 inches(15.2 cm) It is made from three sections to form a super wide frame. It has some minor damage. One inside corner has a missing piece of composition about one quarter inch(64 cm) wide and the other corner has a tiny crack in it about 1 inch long(2.54 cm) There are a couple of pieces chipped off the composition and a very small amount of touchup in one corner on the outside. Please see the photos. Some of the gilding has been worn off in a few areas. Most notably the interior beading. I'm being very picky about the damage. Pair Antique Mid 19th Century Silver Gilded Lemon Gold Frames
This is an almost exact pair of antique mid-19th century silver gilded lemon gold frames. They were both covered in paint and were professionally stripped to bring out the original silver gilding. As a result of the stripping. Some of the silver gilding came off, mostly on the raised edges of the frame molding. Also, some of the paint couldn't be removed, but it tends to blend in with the frames. Overall. One measures 14 3/4 inches x 19 1/4 inches(37.47 cm x 48.9 cm) It fits a picture measuring 10 5/8 inches x 15 1/8 inches(27 cm x 38.42 cm) It's molding width measures 2 1/2 inches(6.35 cm) The other is similar in size. Small Antique Mid 19th Century Mahogany Veneer Frame Lemon Gold Gilt Liner
This is a small antique mid-19th century period mahogany or possibly rosewood veneer frame with a lemon gold gilt liner. It dates from around the 1840s to 1850s. And possibly earlier. It has a lovely old finish. But given its age. It has a number of small imperfections. But the overall look is quite beautiful. Overall. The frame measures 6 3/4 inches by 10 9/16 inches(17.2 cm x 26.8 cm) The back opening size is 4 7/8 inches by 8 3/4 inches(12.4 cm x 22.2 cm) The molding width measures 1 5/8 inches(4.3 cm) The frame itself is very thick at 1 3/8 inches(3.5 cm) The issues: there is a slight separation at each of the corners where the wood meets. It has a tiny dent in the top left-hand corner of the frame. It has numerous light scratches on it. But the veneer is fairly thick so they still look dark. There is an approximately 1/4 inch by 1/8 ... moreinch chip in one corner of the frame. Next to it are some dents and small scratches(please see photos) The liner is worn at places and the gray is showing through. It has half of the original hanging piece on the back. But is missing the ring part. You can see the sheets of gilding on the liner. The liner has a tiny chip in one corner and two in another corner(please see photos) I believe there was glass at the front. Then something sitting in it, and then a back to keep it in place, forming a shadowbox(please see photo) The back itself is made deep by an additional layer of wood attached to it. I've secured the liner in place with frame staples. It has its original wavy and bubbled glass. But it has some scratches and scuff marks to it. It would be great for an old oil painting. Drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc. It weighs just over 1 pound(454 g) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look! This is a great-shaped antique early 19th-century Sully gold gilded frame. It dates circa 1820s. Overall. It measures 17 3/8" x 18 3/8" 44.13 cm x 46.67 cm) The back opening size is 12" x 13" 30.48 cm x 33.02 cm) It has substantial width at 3" 7.62 cm) As you can see in the photos. There is a lot of damage to the left side of the molding. There is also wear along the inner site edge of the frame, with the white gesso showing in places. There is chipping along most of the exterior of the frame molding. It does have a number of pluses. It has its original ring hook on the back. It has hand forged nails. This is an antique Italian late 18th or early 19th century gold gilded carved frame. Overall. It measures 23 7/8 inches x 17 1/2 inches(60.64 cm x 44.45 cm) The back opening size is 20 1/2 inches x 14 1/8 inches(52.07 cm x 35.88 cm) The molding measures 2 3/8 inches wide(6.03 cm) I have to say. This is one great-looking frame. However. It does have a few flaws. Mostly, there are about a dozen spots where the gold is chipped off. This will need some type of retouching. On the bottom piece of the molding there is a 1/4 inch round piece of gold missing also(64 cm) There are also a few tiny nicks on it. But they are simply age-related for an antique frame. On the back of the frame. Someone wrote in pencil many years ago Tuscan School 18th century. There is also an odd piece of cork along the bottom piece of the molding in the rear. Along the ... moretop and to the side there are numbers written which I believe signify the frame came from a museum and was deaccessioned at one point. Along the top molding in the rear there is a triangle shape with three holes in it where I believe there was one of the early handwrought hooks that are found in frames of this age. Victorian Ornate Metal Gold Mantel Picture Frame This elegant frame dates from the 19th or early 20th century. On the back toward the top are the numbers 8724 845. On the bottom of the back on one side it looks like PAT with something I can’t read. On the right side it looks like the date: 12/19/94. Which I am guessing would be 1894. Look at the pictures closely; maybe you can enlighten me if you can make out more. It stands 12 inches tall and is approximately 7 1/8 inches wide. It holds a picture 4 1/4 inches wide by 6 1/4 inches tall. It is made of heavy iron and has a beautiful gold colored finish. It has 3 metal picture holders to hold a picture in but is missing the glass. There are no breaks or repairs.

This frame formerly held a large mirror when it was in the possession of the corporate offices offices of The Gleason Book Company. It was fitted with a built up back to accept a mirror. The mirror has since been broken and removed from the frame. This frame was originally used to house an oil on canvas painting. Our hope is that this frame once again surrounds a gorgeous American oil on canvas painting. However the pieces are still in place to add a gorgeous mirror. The frame is in very good condition. 98% of the frame is all there. The gold gilt is all original and there is no in paint touch ups or gold overpaint anywhere on this frame. Pair Antique Mid 19th Century Lemon Gold Gilt Frames 10 X 13 Opening
This is a classy looking pair of antique mid 19th century lemon gold gilt frames. They date circa 1840s to 1860s. Overall. They measure 17 inches x 14 inches(43.2 cm x 35.6 cm) Their back opening size is 13 inches x 10 inches(33 cm x 25.4 cm) Their molding width measures 2 3/8 inches(6 cm) The frames are fairly thick at 1 1/2 inches(3.8 cm) These frames aren't like most lemon gold frames in that they have a very cool dimensional aspect to them. They are covered in those wonderful lines and dots that make lemon gold gilt frames so beautiful. The sides are one half gilding and one half yellow paint. A classic sign of an earlier frame. There's a tiny chip on the center right edge of the short side of molding on one approximately 1/2 inch x 1/8 inch(1.3 cm x.3 cm) Each corner has a tiny chip. But one has a chip measuring approximately ... more1/2 inch x 1/4 inch(1.3 cm x.6 cm) There are a few places where the gold has worn off. But this just seems to blend in with the rest of the frame. The patina on the these frames just can't be beat. It's really exceptional. They each come with their original old wavy glass. They would be great for an old oil painting. I used an tiny easel to take the pictures but its not included. It has a black and white photograph circa late 19th century. It measures 11 1/2" wide by 13 1/4" high the oval area for the picture measures 9 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" wide. Around the edge of the oval opening. There are four swirly decorations. These are separated from the frame. Yet they are still attached. It appears that there is a metal rod connecting the separated pieces to the frame. I have seen antique frames repaired of their gesso losses. If you are wanting to repair this, read the last paragraph, it may help. We are a smoke free home. This is a very cool looking antique early 20th century gold gilt portrait frame. I would date it somewhere from the teens to the 1920s. Overall. It measures 29 1/2 inches x 34 3/8 inches(75 cm x 87.3 cm) The back opening size is 25 1/4 inches x 30 1/8 inches inches(64.1 cm x 76.5 cm) The molding measures 2 3/8 inches wide(6 cm) I'll start by saying that the color of this frame is actually a nicer. Richer, more golden color than the photos are showing. They are tending to be a little shinier than the actual frame. You'll be very pleasantly surprised when you see it. You can see the lines from the gold gilding throughout the frame. Over the years. It has worn off in areas, and the red bole comes through. As you can see in the photos. There are a lot of marks on the frame. I believe this was intentionally done when the frame was made, ... morebecause they're all over the entire frame. Personally, I think they look great. This frame must've been made by a very skilled FrameMaker. The corners are held together with splining inside(please see photo) On the back. There is some light writing that says#9266– C, I believe. Large Antique Mid 19th Century Gold Gilt Gilded Frame Mirror
This is a large antique mid-19th century gold gilt gilded frame and mirror. It probably dates circa 1850s to 1860s. Overall. It measures 31" x 51" The back opening size is 25 1/8" x 45 1/8" Since this would cover a lot of a painting(if you were to use it for that purpose) due to the large width of the molding, you would have to use some type of block around the painting to fit it. Therefore I am giving the site age dimensions, which are 19 7/8" x 39 7/8" The molding width is an incredible 5 1/2" This frame is not lemon gold gilt. But actual gold gilding. The molding on it is just exceptional. The red bole showing through is really beautiful. There are age lines all over it. Along with the typical age-related wear found on the old gold gilded frames. It has that wonderful old mustard yellow paint frequently ... morefound on the sides of early frames. I'm pretty sure the mirror is not original. But it's in great condition. It does have damage to it. Each corner has chipping to it. The bottom left corner has 2 1" chips and a 1/2" chip. Please look closely at the photos to see the chipping going around the frame's edges. Most of it is along the left side and bottom side edges. There's chipping along the inner site edge and the gilding has worn off there. Showing white. This is probably due to cleaning/wiping. Even given the damage. I must say this is one great-looking gold gilded frame! The beautiful golden patina on it just can't be beat. This will definitely make a statement in your home! Large Antique Mid 19th Century Lemon Gold Gilt Frame Mirror
This is a great looking antique mid-19th century lemon gold gilt frame with its original mirror. It dates circa 1850s to 1860s. Overall. The frame measures 26 3/8" x 42 5/8" The back opening size, if you were to take the mirror out, is 20 3/4" x 37 1/8" The molding width is 3 1/4" It has all those great all dots. Lines and beautiful patina found on these early lemon gold frames. You can see the lines where the lemon gold gilding was laid down. It has that cool old mustard yellow paint on the sides and old square cut nails found on these early frames. There are two rings in the back. But I'm not sure if they're original. The wood on the back is loose. So I loosened it a bit more to measure the back opening size, and found that it indeed has its original mid-19th century mirror. The mirror has the usual loss ... moreto the silvering, but it's minimal. Even though the wood back is loose. The mirror is held in very securely with woodblocks. The corners are each off about 1/8 inches where they meet. I don't know if it was cut that way or is due to time. There's a tiny chip in each corner. On one of the long sides there is a very light chip about 2" x 1/8" inches. But it barely shows. Except for a few minor scratches, this frame is in really good condition. It weighs 17 lbs. 12 oz. It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

The handle on the back of the frame is marked"E.J.S" MFG. Co. N.Y. The frame measures 10.75" X 10.75" with an 1.5" hanger. The painting inside is actually a print of a pretty. Floral still life. It has a signature but I cannot read it. It looks like"H.A. Wittman. The frame is in beautiful antique condition. The wood is chipped on the back of the corners. But the sides and front look great. HAND CARVED Italian Early 20th Century Gold Gilt Florentine Frame 13" by 10 3/4"
This is a lovely gold gilt. Hand carved Italian frame from the early 20th century. The interior of the frame(with the glass) measures 10 3/4" by 13" and the outside of the frmae measures 16" by 14" not including the top crest. A very talented, old world carved piece, the back shows the early handwork and detail. The picture inside is included and is pencil signed and inscribed, but is unfortunately unreadable. Basket of flowewrs motiff on top and carved corner cartouches, and pierced carved edges make this piece an outstanding example. There is a piece of missing gilt trim, definitely repairable if desired, or it can be left alone depending on the preference of the buyer. Top quality, early frame for whatever you decorative need. Vintage HUGE MODERNISM Mid-Century Gold Heavy Pine Wood Frame 26 x 30 c.1940s
Here is a very large. Heavy custom/hand-made pine picture frame. It measures 33 x 36 ins. in total and 26 x 30 ins. insert rabbet size. This is painted gold( not gilded) with an old original red paint or bole undercoat. This frame used to house a late 1940s oil portrait. So I would date this to the same time period to very early 1950s time period. The frame has multiple pieces of wood nailed and glued together. And at the top right corner someone nailed some more in to secure it at some point in time.That has caused a surface crack in the wood from the top right corner and the downward piece of wood about 4 x 7 ins. That can be re-glued and fixed if it bothers you. Shown below. It is very sturdy. Heavy and solid. The molding is 4 1/2 ins. wide. The frame has some minor gouges, scrapes, nicks, etc. all from age and handling.Please know this ... moreis a VINTAGE frame, so perfectionists will have to look for a new one and let the vintage lovers appreciate this one. But still a high quality piece. You can see the lines of gilding on it. It has some of those great old dots and lines that you find on these gilded frames. One of the long outer sides of the frame is darker than the other three sides. It was probably the top side when hanging on the wall. Each of the corners has a partial circular line on it. Antique 19th Century Silver Lemon Gold Gilt Frame 11 X 14 Opening
This is an antique mid to late 19th century silver gold gilt frame. It dates circa 1870s to 1880s. Overall. It measures 13 5/8 inches x 16 3/4 inches(34.6 cm x 42.5 cm) The back opening size is 11 1/8 inches by 14 1/4 inches(28.3 cm x 36.2 cm) The molding width measures 1 1/2 inches(3.8 cm) This was a lemon gold gilt frame that had been painted over and was professionally stripped. The frame has some tiny chips along parts of the site edge. But they're not very noticeable. Each corner has a tiny chip. There is a chip measuring approximately 1/4 inch(64 cm) around on one of the short sides. Just next to the chip is a 1 inch x 1/4 inch(2.54 cm x.64 cm) repair, where someone put in some filler many years ago. Across from it on the other short side is an unusual small oval dark stain measuring 5/8 inch x 1/4 inch(1.6 cm x.64 cm) The frame ... moreis very slightly loose but still sturdy. It has those great old lines and dots found in these old gilded frames. You can even see the lines of gilding that were laid on the wood. There is no glass. Antique Early 20th Century Gold Ribbon Bow Floral Frame 11 X 14 Opening
This is a beautiful antique gold ribbon bow floral frame from the early 20th century. It dates circa 1910s or 1920s. Overall. It measures 12 1/8 inches x 15 3/4 inches(30.8 cm x 40 cm) The back opening size is 11 inches x 14 inches(28 cm x 35.6 cm) Most of the molding is 3/4 inches wide(1.9 cm) not including the ribbon on top. The frame has a lovely French look about it. Perhaps it's the decoration on top. Most of the frame is made of wood with applied composition. The ribbon bow and flowers are all applied composition. Although they do look carved. The frame is totally painted gold. It has some light scratches and scuff marks to it. But nothing significant. There are very tiny nicks in the corners, but again, nothing significant. It has a piece of glass. But it has a light 5 inch(12.7 cm) circular scratch on it and a few other light ... moreones.
