The gesso is in very nice condition with only minor cracking in one small area and one tiny probable repair nearby. Enlarge photos#6& 7. The original portrait was done in black and red chalk. Heightened with white chalk, which was then enhanced with pen and dark brown ink on brownish paper. This is a print of that famous portrait. I do not know the date of this print, but my guess is prior to 1970 when this frame was purchased by this estate holder. The backside of the frame has a paper that was glued to it that reads: 174 Rubens- Head of a Boy" The kraft paper on the back of this frame looks to be, at least, 1950 and perhaps older. ANTIQUE BAROQUE PICTURE FRAME w/PRINT OF BOY, 16-1/2" X 14" w/ 9" X 7" OVAL
This frame comes from an estate sale so not much is known about it. The print of a Victorian boy is attached to a 1 6-1/2" X 14" board and the 2-1/2" x 15" reticulated frame is mounted over it(screwed through the back of the large board into the back of the frame) and all of it is finished in gilt. The screws have come loose at the top but the bottom is holding tight. I don't know the age of the frame. It has some chips to the plaster coating in various spots. Some of the chips has been colored over with black to make them less obvious but it would look better with some gilt touch up. Needs some light repair but very interesting piece just as is. Antique 13.75"x11.75" ornate frame and print of boy and rabbit....a classic!
This ones a keeper! I hate to part with it. But have to start simplifying life! This is a very old.probably around 100 years ornate frame with original print. The square part of the frame is 13.75 for the length x 11.75 for the width. The ornate part on the top middle of the frame adds another inch and a half. The frame is excellent condition other than two places I have spotted just now for the first time because of having to look. The very top of the finale has a little broken off, but you can't even tell when looking at the picture. And, the bottom left corner has a tiny bit missing, but again it's not noticeable. I've been collecting antique frames for decades, and for the age, this one is in great condition.The print I know is a classic because I have seen it before, but don't know the name of it! 16 x 20" frame. Actual print about 9 1/2 x 13" Original gold-painted wood frame from about 1929, with some scrapes to raised areas(could probably be rubbed with metallic wax to restore the look) But it is really not too bad, as photos show. It has the original, undisturbed backing paper. The detail of the original artwork is astounding. The clothing seems like, if touched, we could feel the textures. A beautiful young boy! Vintage Picture Frame & Print of a Little Boy 1800's Really nice for age !
This is an awesome print looks like a little Dutch boy. Faux wood grain similar to Impire style furniture in the 1800s. 14 1/2" x 11 1/2. Beautiful decorator piece. This is a vintage piece It is not perfect. Some wear to the frame see pics but very little. Please see my other listings. Thank You.

this is a reproduction print in a frame of the painting listed below* Frame has a few flaws shown in last two photos. Overall in great condition! Measurements 24 1/2" inches tall 20 1/4" inches wide The Torn Hat 1820 Thomas Sully(American(born in England) 1783–1872) Collection- Americas Classification-paintings Thomas Sully was Philadelphia’s leading portraitist in the early nineteenth century. This work displays his characteristically fluid use of paint. A skill he learned in London in emulation of his mentor, the British Romantic portraitist Sir Thomas Lawrence. Even in an era devoted to showing children as truly childlike, Sully’s portrait of his nine-year old son, Thomas Wilcocks Sully, is unusually informal. The young Thomas is situated off-center, creating a feeling of movement and immediacy. He wears an open shirt, rumpled ... morejacket, and straw hat. Such less restrictive costume was becoming more usual for children as it was acknowledged that play was beneficial and healthful for young people. The detail of the torn hat suggests some real. Human mischief on the part of the subject that is not apparent in the rosy sweetness of his face. The viewer wonders how the hat got torn, suggesting an element of narrative rare in a portrait and tying the picture to genre painting. The tear in the hat brim also afforded Sully the opportunity to show off his ability to paint a face under a complex pattern of light and shadow. Like Copley in A Boy with a Flying Squirrel(Henry Pelham) Sully felt free to experiment in a portrait that was not a commissioned work.

Antique Chalk Frame And Blue Boy Print Great Beveled Glass
Up for auction is a gorgeous antique chalk frame and blue boy print. I'm not sure of the age but it is just beautiful. The glass is beveled and the print is in good shape for the age but does show some discoloration as pictured. The frame measures 6x7 and the print is 4x5. This another print in antique of Boy and Dog. I think this one is called Pals. Measures 10 1/2" x 8 1/4" and print size is 6" x 8" Inside corners are not tight together. One corner leaf has a crack and another has a edge missing. Photos show them well.
