Switzerland. I was fortunate enough to be allowed into their archives and privileged to purchase some of their antique stock that had never been circulated. This auction is for this magnificent tall hand carved table top easel to hold a large photo or a painting. The body is carved to make the wood look like twigs and give it a semi rustic appearance. The top is decorated with three glorious delicately carved Edelweiss flowers. This is an amazing masterpiece carved by the famous Fluck Dynasty of Brienz. Switzerland and ... morethe tag that accompanies the frame tells us that it is carved by Peter Fluck in 1904. The wood has a beautiful patina and we can find this item in the Ed. Binder catalog of Brienz in th e 1920's on page 8. Mr. Binder was Mr. Jobin's grandfather. It's in very good condition and has never been previously sold. Still in lovely condition for a really old piece and still usable shape with just a little TLC. The worst feature on the surface is some tape residue that I did not attempt to remove, It has a blue velvet matt still in it where it looks like a small square picture was attached. the oval wooden backing piece is broken in half. Oval opening is about 5 by 6 inches. With a total size of 8 by 10.5 inches. This is an extremely rare and unusual BLACK FOREST hand carved wooden frame dating from around 1850. It appears to have a Middle-eastern feel to it. Such as Palestine of the 19th century or Egypt of the same period. It held a thermometer within the frame originally. That would have been a novelty then. The piece is all original with no repair or restoration. You could place a cropped photograph in the frame or a custom painting or drawing.The specie of wood is indeterminable by us. The frame has the wear and mellow patination one would expect with its age but, no damage. The piece measures 11 inches tall, 6 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Up for auction is an antique 19th Century folk art Black Forest style picture frame. With what appears to be original glass, recently found at auction in the Chester County, PA area. It is found in good used condition. There are half flower style flower carvings in a repeating pattern form. It may be hand carved. Regardless, it is of very fine quality. This frame will accommodate any 5 1/2" x 11" The overall size of the entire frame is approximately 10" x 15 1/2" in size. There are a few air bubbles in the glass, indicating age. The hanging wire is missing and will need to be replaced. There are some losses to the original finish is some areas. This is seen in the photos. When it hits ROCK BOTTOM. I rescue. Item Number: 978 T WO(2) VERY OLD BLACK FOREST STYLE RUSTIC PRIMITIVE CARVED WOOD PICTURE FRAMES with GLASS. A wonderful pair of picture frames. All carved and so rustic looking! Two different sizes, one glass opening is 11-3/4" x 9-1/2" and the larger one is 13-3/4" x 9-3/4" glass opening size. This is the measurement from outside edge of gold rim all around the frame. Of course you could use a mat in them and mat them down to your 8 x 10's or 5 x 7's. Dark rustic patina. Very nicely carved old wood. Leaves carved also, there are some pieces broken off and missing of the leaves layered on the wood panels. Some of the leaves has a missing point or two. For me, the missing part is hard to notice, everything just"fits" in nicely, it works as it is. Check out all the photos ... moreas I show them very clearly. Antique 1860 Black Forest Carved Wood Picture Frame French Empire Regency 21x16
This incredible early to middle 1800s all wood frame is crisply carved of dark wood(cherry? with its original lemon gold ogee fillet and measures 26 ¾” x 21 ¾” overall with 21” x 16” reveal. It never had a back rabbet: applied moldings determine the back opening. Currently the modern molding describes a back opening of 22 ¾” x 17 5/8” But can easily be reduced. The surface of the frame bristles with confidently rendered foliate details with crossed ribbons and leaf elements at the corner. The carving appears to be Swiss or Black Forest to me, in the late Empire or neo-classical manner. It has lapped construction at the corners and dry, dark original surface on the face. Black Forest type Adirondack hand carved wood picture frame The inside paper is dated Dec 1893. New York Weekly Tribune The old picture that says God is Love is in old sparkles. It is not in real good condition. Included in this offering is a piece of thin wood that was used as the backing. The frame is not in excellent condition. There are some specks that have come off. Please enlarge the pics so you can see. It is well over 100 years old but still sturdy. The outside measurements are 26" x 13 3/4" The measurements where your picture will sit is 21" x 8 1/2" This is a neat old hand carved frame and the paper that was in the back dates it. This extraordinary late 1800s hand carved European walnut picture frame measures 12 ¼” x 10 3/8” with 9 ¼” x 7 ¼” reveal and 10 ½” x 8 5/8” back rabbet opening and retains gorgeous hand applied original color overall. The convex surface of the oval frame is deeply and crisply carved with wild flowers and undulating ribbons and topped with a carefully rendered bowknot. The scant background of uncarved wood is densely stippled for rich contrast. The frame dates from the late 1800s and is in very good(dusty) condition with no cracks. Repairs or losses. Antique Black Forest Wood Carved Picture Frame. This is a beautifully carved and layered frame with a wood back and very old nails. This is hand carved and the pieces fit together like a puzzle. I would say it has four layers. The frame has nice dimension. The picture in the frame was purchased with the frame and is a studio picture from Detroit, Michigan. It is of five females and has been tinted after developing and has that silver shine look.Sorry, old pictures confuse me) The glass in the frame was hand cut period glass and all of the pieces of wood are hand cut, as is the backing. The wire mounting wire is old and rusty. The picture is 4 x 2 1/2 and the frame measures 6 3/4" x 5 5/8" Very nice antique and it will be even prettier all cleaned and polished.
