The filigree is gilded and the metal is probably French white metal or spelter. The gilding appears to be the original finish. It has an easel style back and stands nicely. The glass and photograph slide in from the top. There is an original antique wedding photo, or cabinet card, on the inside. This lovely old frame measures approximately 8 1/4" high x 6 1/4" across. The viewing area is about 5" high x 3 1/2" across. It is in very good condition with the glass intact and all of the metal looks good. This auction is for a fabulous silhouette of a family. It is fabulous! I am not an expert in these.I just love the look. I will tell you everything that I know. The frame measures 13 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. I believe these are painted on.I don't believe they are paper. I have looked with a magnifying glass and still can't quite tell. The scene is sooo lovely. The characters all have that"bronzing" to detail the picture. The frame itself is so lovely. Great gilt insert. And then the frame is I believe Birds Eye Maple. I cannot tell the age. A friend believes the silhouette is older and was reframed maybe around 1930, but again that is just an opinion. I wish I knew more. Up for auction is al vintage antique frame painted gold. With wonderful brass ormolu corners, recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It is found in good used condition. The only issue to report is that one of these ormolu corners is missing a drop. This piece has been painted over in gold. There are a few losses of the frame, but this paint hides many of these defects. In wonderful condition for its age with only minor imperfections as you can see in the pictures; typical of its time period. This frame is not only solid and unwarped. The glass is bright. 2 Unique Vintage/Antique Victorian~3-D Porcelain Figures Framed~Plaques~Cameos
You are bidding on some unique pictures. These were handmade sometime in the 30s or 40s by my husband’s great uncle. The frames are wooden painted white with gold highlights. They measure 11” by 13” and are about 1 ¾” deep. They have cardboard tacked on the back with a wire for hanging. The opening is lined with a sort of pinkish. Salmon velvet. The opening is about 7 ½” by 9 ½” The ceramic plaque that is framed is about 6” by 5” The plaque is a three dimensional plaque with a Victorian couple. The plaque is porcelain. Both pictures have the same figures. But in reverse. I see no chips or missing parts on the porcelain. I do not know if there is a maker on the back of the plaque since it is sealed in. The photo has a little damage in lower right corner. But the real attraction here is the frame. Actually Measures 11 5/8" x 9 1/2" Unsure of its origin but definitely came from Europe. Maybe France ~ Limoges? Frame has a golden colored paint on it, looks to be made of wood. I am not sure of the exact age, the satin background is black, maybe velvet, with the images in the center for both and with Ornate Metal Frame that looks Gold in color, they could be solid gold, I have no idea, and both with a bubble convex ... moreglass. The back looks like it has the professional framed looking brown paper and wire hanger, see photos. Both frames come a with domed glass and are described to the best of my knowledge. Large Late 19th Century Victorian style Solid wood picture frame. the outside of the frame is is solid wood with a decorative gesso design center frame. The decorative gesso to the to the innermost section of the frame is decorated in gold Leaf. Although hard to see, im sure it can be cleaned up bring out the colors. 15 1/2 x 19 3/4 inside picture frame. The frame is 5 1/2 in wide. The picture inside the frame is a signed chronograph print by William henry Chandler. He was an artist who resided in North Jersey and commuted to New York daily. He was in business with his brother who was in charge of the administration side of the business. he also made some of the frames for chandlers Pieces. These are two matching antique victorian brass filigree picture frames. They are very old and were acquired at an estate auction of a very prominent town citizen. Their features are many: convex glass. Beautiful filigree frame, center photo panel measuring 1-1/8" x 2-1/8" The frames themselves measure 4-1/8"x 5-1/8" 6-1/8" including the ornate top. The background panel is ivory velvet with handpainted rosebuds and leaves. Vintage & Antique 3 Oval Wood Picture Frames Lot Victorian Edwardian Civil War
The three frames in this lot are all vintage with the one that is painted gold probably a little newer. The gold one measures 11 1/2 inches x 9 1/2 inches x 3/4 inch deep with the opening measuring 9 1/2 inches x 7 1/2 inches. It has glass that fits and a wood backing. There is an old paper matting that has discoloration and staining. The other two are older frames and are constructed the same. They are a little different in size. The larger one measures overall 13 3/4 inches x 11 3/4 inches x 1 1/4 inches deep with the inside opening being 9 1/8 inches x 7 1/8 inches. The smaller one measures 13 1/4 inches x 11 1/4 inches x 1 1/8 inch deep with the inside opening being 9 1/8 inches x 7 1/8 inches. The gold inner ring on them is actually a metal ring. Probably brass, it shows darkened spots and a couple of minor dents. I did not try to clean ... moreor polish the metal. Both of these frames have separation where the original joints are. There is a spot where a chip of wood is gone. Both of the frames seem to be solid and I don't know if the joints can be pulled back together and glued or if they can be filled and colored in some way. Both of the frames have glass and a wood backing. All the frames come without points or nails to put them together with the glass and back. So the new owner will need to supply same. Please take a good look at the pictures, I tried to show where the separation at the joints are. There are pictures that follow. Feel free to ask questions. The only thing I did to these was wipe off the dust and dirt with a damp cloth, otherwise they come to you as I got them and may need further cleaning. Antique wood frame This is a beautiful layered. Deep old wood frame. It is in nice condition overall but does have some areas with wear. This would work quite well with either a painting or cherished family picture. Antique/ vintage victorian velvet picture frame. Has a sticker on the back that says- Made in Holland 88. It is velvet with brass decorations and hanger. Cameo picture of Victorian couple is covered with convex glass. The velvet is faded and there is slight wear on the bottom. Please see pictures. The color looks like a wine/purple. I am unaware of the maker of this frame or the maker or the baby picture. I would imagine the picture inside is of the same time period as the frame. Antique Vintage Pair Victorian Pastel Prints Women Ladies Metal Frames Oval Mats
Up for bidding is an Antique Pair of Victorian Pastel Framed Prints under Glass with a Wooden Oval"Mat" inside the rectangular frames. Pastel shades of blue highlight the background of one lovely damsel whose dress has a dark blue bow at the neck and matching blue ribbon on the sleeves. The other enchanting lady has j ewels in her hair and on her wist and she is wearing a deep burgundy robe with white fur trim over her lovely gown. She is holding a rose upside down in her hands. Each is in a sturdy solid wood frame with a gold tone finish and have a wooden cream with gold streaked oval"mat" with gold trim that e ncircles each lovely lady. There are no hallmarks as to the country or region of origin. Age, artist, medium, etc… Each framed print has a string across the back that has been used for hanging in the past. Measurements: 13 inches x 11 inches x 1 1/2 inches ~ The prints in their oval opening measure 9 inches x 7inches Condition: Excellent Aged Condition considering age. A few very small spots of darkening under glass. I'm not sure if this is on the glass or the print. The paper back is flaking and torn with water circles. Frame has a few minor scuffs.
