Antique Victorian Gesso Wood Gillded Picture Frame Large 18X15 Oval ~ Old Art
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids today is this round antique wooden gilded picture frame. This frame was an old estate find and is solid. And restorable/ usable. It has some cracking from age along with a place on the edge where the gesso has chipped away over the years and a few visible layers of old paint(see pics) and is just as found. It measures 18 inches long, 15 inches wide on the outside; inside the frame is roughly 11 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches. On the back side, it is made to take a square piece of glass measuring a little over 12 by 9 inches. The lip for the picture/ glass measures roughly 3/8ths on an inch deep. Not much else to add; it’s a beautiful old frame and would make a wonderful addition to the collection or for use in a project. Please inspect the pictures and feel free to email with any questions. Victorian Antique Ornate Brass Miniature Oval Picture Frame w/Filagree
In this auction. You are bidding on a beautiful ornate miniature oval brass picture frame with a decorative filigree top and a wire easel back. Featured under the glass is a rectangular photograph lovely young woman in late 1800s or early 1900s clothing and hairstyle. There is a handwritten label on the back which reads"My mother at 18- Mary Ellen Palmer Lind. Wire easel on the back is not original and there is a brass tab missing. Outside edge of frame measures about 2&5/8" wide by 4&3/8" long, including the ornate decoration at the top. Antique Wood Victorian Oval Picture Frame, Opening is 8"X10"
Beautiful Victorian Oval Wood Frame Wood with gold. Interior is an orange color. This is a deep frame, like a shadow box. The depth of the inside of the frame front to back of frame is about 3" Frame 13 1/2" x 11 1/4" opening is 8" x 10" The frame is made of wood and pieces do not separate other than the glass. The glass rests in the front but was held in place with tape. Also glass appears to have been chipped into an oval not cut with glass cutter. No back is present with this piece. Wood is heavy and very nice. I do my best to describe items accurately but encourage questions before you buy and item. Pair of Antique Victorian Walnut Oval Frames
For your consideration is this Pair of Antique Victorian Oval Walnut Frames The outside of these walnut frames measures approximately 14" tall. 12" wide, and 1 1/2" thick. The inside of the frames may hold an oval picture approximately 9" tall and 7" wide. Both frames contain a gold color gesso on the inside rim. Antique Victorian Pair Large Oval Black & Gold Wood and Gesso Picture Frames
This is a stunning pair of antique Victorian era oval picture frames that are identical and in very good condition. All of the floral gesso designs on the frame are complete and intact and the wood is excellent. The paint is all intact(a few scratches have been touched up but they blend in well) The black is still glossy and not faded and the areas of floral gesso have gold accents. There is no glass included for either. And the photos that are in the frames are rough. There are screws on the back with wire attached for wall hanging, but the wire will probably need to be tightened or replaced because it seems to be too long. The frame dimensions are 21" W x 25" H. Victorian Antique Wood Gesso Black & Gold Gilt Oval Picture Frame With Mirror
Early Victorian carved wood and gesso frame with mirror in an oval shape being offered in its as is condition. The design is very beautiful but unfortunately the frame has some damages as seen in all the pictures and would need some restoration. Even though it does display a certain shabby chic elegance in its current distressed condition. The frame is oval in shape and it is decorated top. Bottom and both sides with leaves, nuts and berries in a high relief. There is a chis- cross design along the inside edge and the outside section is painted black. The mirror shows some age spots and a long(cut) line that shows through, but this is to be expected on an item this old. The back of the frame is a heavy piece of wood with a rectangular opening that has curved corners inside of which the heavy and thick mirror fits. The mirror is covered with ... morea flat piece of wood which is held in place with small nails. We have not removed this wood to expose the mirror and we have left everything in its as found condition. Please look at all the pictures to see where the gesso is chipped. The frame measures 14 1/4" long X 12 1/2" The frame would hold a picture that has to measure 10" X 8" This Victorian frame with mirror is being sold in its as is condition. This is an antique oval wood and gesso frame for a picture or mirror. The frame is offered in its as is condition without a glass on the front nor a back cover. The wood is a dark mahogany color and it has a lacquered finish to it. The four centers are decorated with a floral and leaf high relief cluster and the interior oval opening of the frame is gilded. The frame measures 14" X 12" and the oval opening for picture or mirror is 9 1/2" X 7 1/2" The frame displays well. But it does show some wear from age and at one of its longer sides some of the(teeth) pattern gesso is chipped. Early Victorian carved wood and gold gilt gesso frame with needlepoint rose bouquet framed in it. The frame is in an oval shape and it is decorated top. Bottom and both sides with high relief leaves and flowers. It measures 13" X 11 1/4" X 2" deep. The oval opening inside where a new picture or mirror can replace the needlepoint piece measures on the front 8" X 6" The frame is in good condition without any gesso missing. It does however have two stress marks or hairline cracks, one starting below the high relief central flower at the very top of the frame and going down to the end of the width of the frame and the other on the opposite side of the first at the bottom of the frame only on the inner 1/4" section by the glass. The photographer, M.B. Parkinson, worked in the New York City area during the latter part of the 1800s and early 1900s. His young model, Josephine Anderson, was the daughter of a friend, a single mother who worked and sometimes left her child in Parkinson’s care. Josephine died in the 1970s. In 1908, The Ohio Art Company began selling metal picture frames in which the Cupid prints were displayed, some of them hand tinted. In 1938, Ohio Art Company bought the copyright from Taber-Prang after their bankruptcy.
