However, the tradition of Heriz and Serapi carpets is relatively recent. Heriz carpets were produced during 19th Century primarily as exports to Europe and Britain. Historically, it was common for carpet traders to market rugs produced in neighboring villages like Bakshaish as Herizes. However, not all villages were able to match the quality of the native Heriz weavers. Although the cities of Heris and Sarab are both located in the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan, which is also home to the city of Tabriz, Heriz and Serapi carpets are totally unlike those produced in Tabriz. Where designs from Tabriz used flowing curvilinear figures with ornate decorations, carpet weavers in Heriz used bold geometric and tribal motifs with angular lines that bear little resemblance to the flowers and objects they represent. Now regarding the Serapi that I am offering here, first of all, when it comes to oversize antique rugs prices usually go up to 25% because oversize pieces were made in much smaller number compare to regular 9'x12' room sizes. This Serapi freshly came out from, an estate sale in Santa Barbara, CA. We were told that this rug has been in the family estate since 1916. This beauty measures 11'7" x 14'10" that fits in 12' x 15' category. It is in good condition for its age, shows minor wears, but shows no foundation threads, n o holes, repair, stain and odor. Both ends are intact and believe it or nor some of original fringes are still there, which is kind of rare for a Serapi at this age. As you see, it has phenomenal decorative color combination, with awesome open field pattern with central medallion. Since this rug is one of our recent acquisition, we are getting it cleaned by a professional and we will make it 100% presentable prior to shipping

LG. ANTIQUE WALNUT FRAME 26+X33+ w/ VINTAGE PRINT AFTERNOON TEA PARTY - COLORFUL
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WALNUT FRAME WITH GOLD TONE LINER. ORIGINAL CONDITION. Frame is circa 1880’s– 1890’s. 26 ¼ inches by 33 ¼ inches. Frame contains a vintage print. The vintage print is circa 1950– 1960’s– of an afternoon tea party. With lots of people in elaborate outfits, and children and a dog very interested in the pastries. A fine print with lots of details to it– you can look at the print for a long time and feel as though you are in the midst of the tea party. Outer measurements of the frame are 26 ¼ inches by 33 ¼ inches. Size of the opening for the glass and contents is 21 inches by 28 ¼ inches. The walnut is about 2 inches deep measured from the side and the front. Including the gold tone liner, is about 3 inches. The walnut frame is in good condition– a few superficial“use” scratches and small“wear spots” ... moreon the front– not really visible. Finish is dark. Probably original– nice color– some light spots from camera glare. The gold tone liner is in good condition but has some age darkening spots all over– see photo. Corners of the frame are good– the frame is firm– there is a small space on the gold tone liner at the upper left corner. Print is good–not torn but with a little fading on lower right corner– see photo. There print measures a little less than the width of the frame but a narrow gold tone mat was added at the top and bottom edges. The frame has glass and cardboard backing. The frame and contents weigh about 12 pounds before any packing materials. ALL SALES FINAL. I am selling items that have some age to them. Naturally there will be irregularities and flaws. Just because of the age. I will describe an item as best I can, and will try to picture any irregularities or missing parts, but ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID! All items listed are Original and Genuine. As always! Fancy Gesso Frame with Original Chalk Pastel Portrait. Circa 1890's. Beautiful LARGE gesso frame with its original gold and silver finishes in overall good condition. There are a few tiny chips off the gesso here and there. Very sound! The right corner has been retouched and it still displays nicely as you can see! Houses an original chalk pastel portrait of a pretty Lady with vivid colors! The portrait is not perfect. Has a few very light moisture spots along the very bottom and light foxing. Again is displays very nicely on the wall! Personally I think this is an amazing old pastel and frame! Old Colorful Cottage Scene Lithograph in 16 3/4 x 13 3/4 Antique Frame
Thank you for considering this auction. The frame. Alone, is worth the starting price for this auction. The frame is antique but I am not an expert on determining age. A careful look at the frame reveals beautiful raised relief carved molding at each corner. The frame is wood but the species is unknown to me. It is painted gold so no wood grain shows. The frame is approximately 16 3/4 inches by 13 3/4 inches. If the lithograph is not wanted then the frame could be used for almost any other piece of art. An old black and white photo would look incredible in this frame. On the back of the picture is a thin white wire to hang the picture. There is a paper thin mat with green lines close to where the lithograph is mounted. The lines were drawn probably to trick the eye into thinking there were multiple mats. The mat is yellowed from age and exposure ... moreto light. But this gives the picture some of its character in my opinion. I love that the mat is yellowed! But a new mat could easily be cut for this frame. The lithograph is probably very old. The subject matter and the frame itself seem to point to it being an antique. The lithograph depicts a lovely English type cottage with an English garden of lovely flowers of various heights. The lithograph image area is 9 1/4 inches by 6 3/8 inches. 19th c Antique Folk Art Reverse Tinsel Painitng on Glass: FOLKY COLORFUL FLOWERS
Offering for your consideration an antique reverse painting on glass. Which is hand painted and backed by foil. This tinsel painting has a black background and is in the original early wooden frame with wooden back. The subject is a boldly executed bouquet of mixed flowers. The colors are fresh and vibrant. There are slight irregularities in the early glass. Which confirm the 19th century age of the art work. The unknown artist was obviously a dramatic individual as the subject matter totally fills the entire frame and the flowers are painted with a naïve. Yet definitive hand. The frame measures 14 3/4" by 10 1/2" and is in excellent condition. Please note that due to the fragile nature of this antique painting. Actual USPS shipping insurance is required.
