$10.00 Shipping Location: Fort Collins, United States Here is a nice brown crockery lid for a bean pot. The lid measures about 6 inches across and is one early and unique lid. Let me start out by saying that ... morethis lid is in near perfect condition. What looks like chips in the photos are actually notches that were made into the lid. Look closely and you will notice that the notches are almost equidistant from each other and are almost identical in size. The brown glaze is in the notches themselves so they were not added afterwards. The only chip in this lid is a small flake on the underside near one of those notches. It does not show from above. I have had a couple dealers examine this and they were stumped as well on the reason for the notches. They surmised that it would be for ventilation. But venting what was the mystery. It is rather small for a sauerkraut or pickling crock unless you are making small batches. To further the mystery was the fact that the underside of the lid was not glazed. There is a spot where the glaze ran some to the underneath which I show in one of the photos. One dealer believed that this lid may have been hand molded as there are what looks like finger imprints and a finger nail imprint on the inside of the underneath lip/rim. This rim measures about 3 7/8 inches across. I can place my thumb nail in that nail indentation perfectly and it balances on my thumb nail in a way so that you could brush on the glaze with your other hand. This way no finger prints would be made on the top glaze. Also, if you look at the side view photos you will see a slight wavering to the lid. I am assuming that the thin outer rim sagged a bit while drying or firing. You just do not run into lids like this in this condition very often. If you have any early primitive brown bean crocks in your collections that need lids this would be a great replacement for them. If you have any other questions let me know. This is an amazing mid 19th century(possibly earlier) American spanish brown painted folk frame. Great split baluster applied to flat molding with a narrow canted site edge and beaded outer edge. Original surface of dry. Aged brown paint. Frame is in excellent condition with minor wear. All original: surface, wavy glass and shingle backboard. Definitely a homemade piece that is solid. Has the perfect look for a fraktur, bookplate, watercolor, or textile. Frame measures 13 x 17 3/4 with a 9 1/4 x 14 rabbet and is 2" thick. Found in central Pennsylvania. Outstanding frame. This large vintage wooden frame measures approximately 31 x 15 inches. It has its original dark brown-mahogany colored paint and is in sturdy condition. It comes with its plywood backing also but no glass. I am not sure of the age of this frame but it has a paper label on the back that says Tudor. Tasha Painting No 63 SQUIRRELS. Antique Biedermeier Black & Brown Lemon Gold Gilt Liner Wood Frame
This is a very handsome antique Biedermeier black and brown wood frame with a lemon gold gilt liner. I'm going to date it 1920s. But it may be just before or just after. Overall. It measures 8 9/16 inches x 11 3/16 inches(21.75 cm x 28.42 cm) I can't measure the back opening size due to the wooden backing. So I'm going to give you the site edge on front of the frame instead. It measures 6 3/8 inches x 8 7/8 inches(16.19 cm x 22.54 cm) The molding is 1 1/8 inches wide(2.86 cm) The grain on this frame is just beautiful. It looks like mahogany veneer with black ebonized corners. It has great looking. Well made lap joints at the corners. It has its original easel back. But it's badly attached(please see photo) However, it stands up fine. It has some slight damage to it. There's a tiny chip on the lemon gold gilt liner along ... morethe bottom. The ebonized black square in the top left-hand corner has a crack going through it along with some very tiny cracks. There's a small chip on the top. A little to the right of the middle. There's also a small chip on the bottom right-hand corner(please see photo) It has a number of tiny dings/nicks on it, but they seem to just blend in with the frame. However, the ones along the bottom of the frame do stand out a bit. The frame also has light scratches on it. The colors and patina are really beautiful. It has its original wavy glass. It's a sturdy. Well made frame. It would be great for an old oil painting. Drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc. It has what I always look for in frames. VTG Antique Picture Frame-Brown-Gold Color,Cast Iron 11 1/4 by 8 1/4-Made In USA
There is no name on the metal frame it is in great shape. It does look like the stand piece in the back has probably been replaced because it is black and looks newer but still made from the same type of metal. The lady is sitting/reclining in a chair watching a butterfly. Very decorative with flowers and ornate design. I purchased this in 1981 or 82 at an antique store in Branford. Fla. for my Mother-in-law who loves antiques. The white stuff on the back of the frame is glue from the tape she used. The inside of the frame is 5 1/4 in. by 3 1/2 in. opening. The frame does have a metal piece that helps it to stand. Very heavy. There is no glass to go inside the frame but it does have a clear thick piece of plastic that was used. The plastic is in good shape.

Large frame 30" high x 20" wide. I believe this is from the early 1800's as it appears to be a casting covered in wood veneer. Simple fruit design. Wood on the back with small steel nails. I cannot see any signatures on the frame. There are bits of very old paper stuck to the front.
