This is a very large mid 19thC ebonized American ebonized dutch ripple frame. This is the ripple style i call'snakeskin' as the ripple patterns in the molding are alternating instead of opposite.a much more unusual style. Rare very large size measuring 30 3/4 x 36 with a rabbet of 26 1/4 x 31 3/8 and resizeable. Excellent condition with some wear to the ebonized surface(patina! but no losses to the gesso.even the original gilded ripple liner is in excellent condition. Very desirable frame. Mitered.
