Set of 4 Antique Swinging Wooden Picture Frames 1920's
4 Antique wooden picture frames. 3 are swinging/tilt frames. And the fourth has a felted easel. The easel frame is marked"OrnaWood. They contained pictures of my great-grandparents, dating to the early 20th Century, but I'm now storing these in albums. Two of them have the glass(original) One of them(the octagonal one) is really delicate, but if you are careful with it, many years of use left. They are really great. Antique Victorian Picture Photo Frame Griffin Heraldic Lion Wood Wooden 4.75x8
This is a beautiful antique wooden frame that likely dates from the Victorian Era. On the front is carved what appears to be a griffin or heraldic lion; it is quite ornate and aesthetically pleasing. It will hold photos that are up to 8 1/8" tall and 4.75" wide. The photo is inserted into a slit on the top. It is 6 3/8" from the bottom of the photo"drop" to the top of the viewer frame. Which means if the photo is 6 3/8" high it will reach the top of the viewer frame. It can be up to 8 1/8" high and still be held behind the wood. The frame opening is about 3 5/8" x 5 3/8" The entire frame is 8"x10" Some of the hardware on the back looks to have been added later. The frame has some wear from handling and use. It is structurally sound, but on one side the pieces of wood are separating(see ... morephoto) Again, though, it is structurally sound. This would make an ideal decor item. Antique Old Master style gold leaf frame/11&1/2" x 11&1/2", 9&3/4" with spandrel
If you're looking to frame an Old Master piece in an appropriate frame. Then this could be the one you're looking for. It's an Italian frame, finished in what I think is gold leaf, and I think it probably dates from the 1920s. This frame comes with a beautiful spandrel and can be used with or without it. Without the spandrel, the rabbet is 11&1/2" by 11&1/2. With it, the diameter is 9&3/4. Overall, the frame is 15" by 15. Condition is as found and as shown. This is an antique OVAL WOODEN PICTURE FRAME with gilt inset and the outer ring is lined with beaded gilt. The frame measures 14 1/4" X 12 1/4" and the picture size is 8" X 10" and is 1 1/4" deep. The frame has scratches in the surface and a small area(about a half inch) where the beading has come off on the outer edge near the bottom of the frame. The gilting on the inset area has 3 cracks in it. The photo is that of a woman sitting. There is one area where there is a red cushion she is setting her right arm on. Hand cut dovetail joined box that is 8" x 10-1/4" at the back& widens to 10-1/2" x 12-1/2" to which is attached a 12-1/2" x 14-1/2" oak frame with mitered corners. Considering it's age. There are very minor flaws. which consist of some tiny chips in the edges of the corners a couple tiny chips along the edge of the right side. Unless you run your finger over the edge. They are barely noticeable at all. The Extensive Spoon Carvings are all very well defined. There is also a chip in the old wavy glass at the very bottom on the inside of one of the bubbles in the glass. The Antique Tintype Photograph is in Great Condition, having been protected inside this frame for so many years. The original matting has a couple foxing dots and very minimal wear.
