Here are three maple soapberry spoons from the northwest coast. When mixed with equal amounts of berries and water they can be whipped into a foam not so much different than whipped egg whites. Also, if you find that there is more than one item you are interested in bidding on over a given time period and would like to take advantage of combined shipping, please again, DO NOT pay me until the last of those items you're watching has finished. I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping fee which saves on postage. 18th-19th century Stiegal-type engraved mug..German / Bohemian / American ??
Here is the real deal. I obviously would not try my hand at attribution on this piece but it is of the variety that used to be called Stiegal-type. I think today that classification is outdated.I'm kind of old school. Unfortunately the problem with this piece is a hairline crack in the outer base that extends up both ends of itself about an inch into the lower body. Other than that it is clean. Clear, and practically a museum piece. At any rate, a great period example. Base is 3 1/2 in. top is 3 3/8 in. hieght is 4 3/4 in. and weight is 9 oz. Freeblown, pontil and applied handle. Absolutely clear.

Antique American Early Stiegel Type Glass Cup w Handle. Amethyst, Circa 1800-40
Early American blown glass handled cup or mug. In dainty fragile amethyst glass. Of the type made by Stiegel, late 18th century. This example is likely New England in origin, as it came from an estate with several good early American pieces descended in lineage. Possibly Ohio. Amethyst blown glass in slightly ribbed version. Measuring about 2.25 inches high and about 2.5 inches width to outer handle. Choice underneath pontil mark. Circa late 18th c/early 19th c. About Stiegel: Stiegel's story is the classic rags to riches tale. Which he carried a step beyond a happy ending by going back to rags. Henry Stiegel was born near Cologne and emigrated to Philadelphia in 1750 with his widowed mother and younger brother. After a year or so in Philadelphia. He went to work in Lancaster County for an iron founder, whose daughter, Elizabeth Huber, ... morehe married in 1752. By 1756 Stiegel had become a partner in the ironworks, which was run on a cooperative basis, and he renamed it Elizabeth Furnace. In 1760 he became a subject of Great Britain. By then he was an important community leader and a lay delegate to the Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania. Stiegel. A German immigrant, came to America in 1750, married the daughter of a Lancaster County ironmaster, took over the iron business and diversified into glass production. Elizabeth Furnace was modernized. And a small company town was built around it. Under Stiegel's energetic influence the foundry produced stoves, heating devices, and almost every kind of object that could be made of iron. By the 1760s Stiegel had acquired a second ironworks, Charming Forge, near Womelsdorf, Pa. and a large amount of land at what later became the town of Manheim. His first wife had died, and he married again. In 1763 Stiegel produced. On an experimental basis, his first glassware at Elizabeth Furnace. There were 10 craftsmen, supervised by his brother Anthony. The initial output of the factory—window glass and green bottles—sold quickly. Shortly thereafter Stiegel made a trip to England
