18th-19th century Stiegal-type engraved mug..German / Bohemian / American ??
Here is the real deal. I obviously would not try my hand at attribution on this piece but it is of the variety that used to be called Stiegal-type. I think today that classification is outdated.I'm kind of old school. Unfortunately the problem with this piece is a hairline crack in the outer base that extends up both ends of itself about an inch into the lower body. Other than that it is clean. Clear, and practically a museum piece. At any rate, a great period example. Base is 3 1/2 in. top is 3 3/8 in. hieght is 4 3/4 in. and weight is 9 oz. Freeblown, pontil and applied handle. Absolutely clear.

The humpen has a tapering bulbous bowl and is applied with a typically“Bohemian” type handle with thumb piece. It has an applied foot ring and the base has a good“kick” with rough pontil mark. The glass is profusely enameled. There is a border to the bowl rim. The midriffs and the foot ring. Between these are enameled representations ... moreof Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles. Jesus is in the top tier of figures with three apostles to either side of him and the remaining six apostles are in the lower tier. Each figure is named in German in an ornate calligraphic script. There is enameled ground work below the figures and lily of the valley and ornate motifs enameled between the figures. A masterpiece of Historismus enameling. Continental soda glass. Condition& Defects: No chips. Cracks or evidence of restoration. In fabulous condition. As good as the day is was produced, with just light wear to the bearing surface of the footrim. This electric table lamp is made of clear glass cased in green. Which has been cut to clear. We believe this was originally a vase or mantle luster which was modified for use as a lamp with a brass base and fittings added. There were never any prisms added to the rim of the glass body. This lamp is currently fitted with a modern UL listed socket. This lamp is unmarked. But the quality and craftsmanship are clearly Bohemian, Czech, or German. We would date this lamp from 1860-1890. The lamp is in good shape. It has been tested and works. There are some small chips. But no cracks and no other problems of any kind. This dazzling lamp will look wonderful on a side table! ANTIQUE NAMED GERMAN BOHEMIAN 7 PANEL AMBER GLASS “SPA” BEAKER WIESBADEN c.1860
This is a very beautiful antique‘Spa’ beaker dating from the mid nineteenth century and commemorative of Wiesbaden. These very collectable beakers. Used for drinking the beneficial waters of the German spa towns, were made with great skill by the famous glass makers and engravers of Bohemia and were acquired as high quality souvenirs by the wealthy patrons of the spas as mementoes of their visits to these elegant venues. This one shows six spa scenes in Wiesbaden, the old Hessian capital and one of the major spa towns of Germany. It is in wonderful condition for its 150 or so years. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. This amber flashed overlay cut glass beaker measures 13.5cms(just under 5.5” tall and 8cms(just over 3” in diameter across the rim and 7.5 cms(about 3” across the base of the foot. It weighs 562 gms. The rich design features ... morethe six exquisitely engraved scenes each set in a circular frame within the six panels. The six scenes are: 1. Hochbrunnen” 2. Kursaal i(Culture Palace) 3. Kolonnade” 4. Teatr” 5. Ker Jahrzeitzen” 6. Und Platte” All are named in gothic script underneath. The seventh panel features a beautifully designed engraved wreath containing the name“John Collett” and the added information“b(Born) Wiesbaden” Mr Collett’s date of birth is not included. The thick amber base supports the main bowl on a thick faceted stem. The base itself is cut in seven decorative shaped sections and the bottom of it has a criss cross pattern.
