It is a solid oak 54 inches quarter sawn top. The table is 30 inches high and when all four leaves are inserted the table becomes 8 feet long. It is a good-looking table with a large reeded center column and a platform base that goes down into the biggest ball and claw feet I have seen in a long time. The table is in a medium oak stain. We were very attracted to its classic octagonal column resting on a simple curving pedestal base rather than the kind of creepy animal claw bases we saw when we were looking for an antique oak dining table 30 years ago. We lost the leaf having moved twice since we purchased the table at the time we owned a Victorian home. But it would be easy to replace or replicate. The table is 30" tall with skirt 4 1/4" high. It is constructed of solid(no veneer) oak. The oak is quarter sawn to expose an extraordinary Tiger Oak pattern. The desk is simplistic in design and elegant in character. It has a single drawer on the front center with a lovely brass pull. The legs are cabriole and feature a gently curved design with chiseled feet. The legs also possess the Tiger pattern. I will Entertain any offers you would like to give on this table. It is a Mid 1800's Victorian Solid Oak Quarter sawn Lion's claw foot table. No Veneer what so ever. Solid oak. My parents bought this in upstate New York in 1945. As you can see. They really overbuilt things back in the day, and that is why it stood the test of time. It slides open perfectly, locks closed perfectly. It is tight and strong. No chips or gauges. All fastners are in place and are original. Large 48" round. This table was taken care of beautifully. It shows its age(Well over 100 years) as it has not been revamped as I know it. Always kept indoors and out of direct sunlight. I have leafs for it that are not original, but they are solid oak and work to extend this table to accomodate 8 persons comfortably. The detail is in incredible condition. Gorgeous Tiger Oak Ball and Claw Foot Table
This is an amazingly beautiful table. Top has been re-veneered and matched with the other shades of the wood. Bottom shelf is simply phenomenal(see pic)tons of flecks in the oak. Great. Massive rope twist legs ending in beautiful brass claw feet with giant glass balls. Who thinks this stuff up? ORIGINAL. NOT REPRODUCTION. This gorgeous table is in perfect working condition and also in good antique condition in terms of the finish. It has a few shallow scratches and minor wear on the top. Overall. It's ready to use-no projects here! Splits in middle and slides nicely apart for use of leaves. This includes one original. Matching leaf. We also had 3 leaves made so we could expand this further-this coordinate well but are not a precise match, as they were made of a regular grained modern red oak. Once again, they look nice but are not an exact match. The new leaves mesh together with biscuits so they will match the top level of the table. The older leaf uses the original peg system. Needs refinished and reassembled. Top is 24" x 23 3/4" and it stands 29 1/2" tall. A lot of the oak is quartersawn tigr oak. Top has some shallow drying cracks which will fill with wax. This was really wobbly and needed reglued so I carefully popped it apart. You will need to replace one dowel rod or maybe not as there is a partial stud left. Also someone had tried to tighten it up with some small finishing nails instead of gluing it so they will need removed. Top has some minor edge/corner wear. Legs and tops are all sound and solid oak. Dating to the 1890's. This is a stunning tiger oak coffee table with its original matching leaf. Please note two things, first almost all leafs on these early oak table do not have an apron, this one does. The apron is the matching side and only higher end higher quality tables were made with aprons. Most leaves consist of only a matching top without the side. This leaf is an exact match to the table along with the side. So the the table can be used with the leaf and the design around the sides will look the same and look consistant. Please also note that this table used to be a dining room table but the base had been cut down so that it could be used as a coffee table. 1800's Morticians Cooling Table / Rare Original Folding Tiger Oak and Canvas
These early canvas embalming/ cooling tables are truly a very rare find(especially In this condition. Much rarer than the metal or solid wood ones. I've seen a few others like this and the canvas is always completely rotted and torn to pieces. There is only one tiny hole measuring less than 1/4 inch(a bit smaller than a dime) from where one of the leg braces has sat against the canvas for many years and absolutely no rot anywhere. There is some staining on the canvas but I think this could easily be removed with a little white vinegar and a steam cleaner. Personally I would just leave it as is. It nicely shows the pieces age and use. The beautiful Tiger Oak wood remains in unbelievably good condition for a piece that's well over 100 years old and all the original cast iron hardware is there and functioning just as it should. The legs ... morethemselves are also beautiful turned spindle legs- much more detailed and rare than others I've found. This table Is large. Heavy and solid. It easily supports my friend and he's 6'4" and weighs over 200 lbs. It measures 6 feet 2 inches long X 22 inches wide X 20 1/4 inches high with the headrest laid out flat instead of raised as you see It In the photo's. The piece does fold In half and the legs fold up underneath to the size of a large suitcase. The folded measurements are 3 feet 1 inches long X 22 inches wide X 6 1/4 inches high. The oak table weighs in at 27lbs. I will ship this table, but It will be a little pricey do to the weight and size. During the Victorian Era. It was a quite common practice for funerals of the deceased to be held in their homes. In the case that the deceased had passed away before the family was prepared for the funeral and or wake, the corpse would have to be preserved well enough for the embalming process to take place and last through viewing, wake and funeral which could last for several days back then. Beautiful Antique Tiger Oak 54" Dining Table 6' w/ two leaves,
Beautiful tiger oak table. Has had its share of use and so there is normal wear from age and use. All original 4 wheels are there and work. Mechanisms to connect two part base together and for leaves are newly oiled and move well. It appears that when the table is put together for use there are holes for screws to make sure it's solid but there are no screws included. It sits pretty solidly on top of the base without them but for safety it should be screwed in place. The sides of the leaves that show are in very good condition and the other sides have some scratches and staining. The curved veneer on the feet of the table has been repaired. The table measures 54" across and over 6 feet long with both leaves. Each leaf is 9 inches by 54 inches. The base is 27 inches tall and 28 inches across. OK delivery options. We are pleased to be offering today this gorgeous Victorian turn of the century solid tiger sawn oak split pedestal base dining table that has two factory leaves and dates from the 1890s era in 100% professional refinished condition. It is a gorgeous table. It was beautiful when we started with it in the original finish but it had the typical surface scratches and marks. We completely stripped. And fitted the leaves, glued it up, belt sanded the top to make it level, hand sanded, stained, applied multiple coats of moisture resistant lacquer and finished it in a dark oak stain finish. It is now all set to go into the home for many years of carefree use. It comes with two 12 inch factory leaves and I believe the table will hold two more if you desire. It will cost $150 per leaf to have them fabricated if you desire an extra leaf. The table ... moreitself is gorgeous with strong tiger sawn accents. It has an unusual foot, almost like an Art Noveau style. The center leg opens to reveal a center leg for extra sturdiness. This table came out of a large estate where the dining room was so large that they had two matching dining tables! We have sold the other table and this is the remaining table from that dining room. The overall size is 48 inches round and 29 inches tall. When the two 12" leaves are installed, the table becomes 72 inches long.
