Fine American Federal Period Sheraton Pembroke Table New York c. 1810-20. Crafted of magnificent solid mahogany boards, entirely original! Item# 120011RYI24 ... moreThis listing is for a remarkable and very fine Sheraton Pembroke table of the Federal Period. Crafted in New York during the first quarter of the 19th Century. It is a magnificent work, using the most incredible solid mahogany boards available for the overall presentation. Each leaf is a very broad single plank of full grained glowing mahogany, the middle most board a full 21 1/4" across the grain; each was flawlessly planed by hand until the surface was perfectly smooth, at which point a french polish was applied. This is a labor intensive and difficult finish to apply, layer after countless layer of shellac being rubbed into the surface by hand, but when done properly the result is breathtaking. The surface absolutely shimmers, the deep reds of the mahogany glowing through with utter brilliance. The leaves are notched and rounded. Giving an overall"cloud" form to each hanging surface, these lifting over hand forged iron hinges with entirely original screws. The top projects just slightly over the front, lining up perfectly along the sides such that the leaves rest squarely against the frame when in dropped form. One side of the table has a faux drawer with cockbead molding around it. The other side has a very deep drawer without cockbead molding, both having bold original polished brass stamped handles. Inside of the drawer. A white label is affixed on the left side from a dealer who once carried the table"Edwin C. Ahlberg, Antique Furniture, New Haven, Conn" The drawer is hand dovetailed at the back, nailed at the front, chamfered on the thick bottom along the sides to rabbet into the drawer frame and is nailed at the back of the drawer with a modern nail. We believe the drawer was shortened, as the absence of dovetails at the front would suggest along with the absence of a chamfered front edge to the underside of the board. Our as

We are pleased to be offering today this really nice old untouched Duncan Phyfe finish drop leaf table with a hand cut dove tail drawer that dates from ... morearound the 1850s. It is truly a nice period untouched table. It has a ribbon mahogany top, round corner drop leaves, heavy bold column four legged base, solid cast brass Duncan Phyfe claw foot and built in castors. I normally don’t buy period furniture like this, but I was very impressed by how untouched this piece was. The overall size is 40.5 inches long, 24 inches wide when the leaves are closed, 15 inches wide on each leaf, 52 inches long when the leaves are flipped up. The finish is very nice for being 180 years old. It does show normal nicks, dings and scratches, but I believe it would rub out nicely to make a good presentation.

Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for an English Regency Period Tilting Mahogany Breakfast Table. C. 1800-25. It features an incredible dark mahogany top of extremely wide proportions, using two boards to span the total depth of 36 1/4" the first board is 31 1/4" wide, the second 5" To simply imagine how large the tree used to make this board would have been is astounding, and to capture the most beautiful compact grains as found in this board is admirable. A stretched frame beneath the table forms a box of the crossbars, locking together using through-tenon joinery. Original screws lock this undisturbed frame to the underside of the table, holding the wooden dowels from the pedestal inside for a smooth rotation. Original undisturbed brass catch hardware remains functional beneath the table to lock the table in a rested position. The base of the pedestal is oak over pine, with the pedestal tenoned through both, the front with a pair of original brass receivers with what appear to be original screws. A wonderful turned pedestal of solid mahogany is designed with a short shaft over three tight turned rings over baluster turnings before flowing into sabre-legs. Each leg is capped with brass hardware, each with original screws over large original caster wheels. The legs of the table are locked in place with a Y bracket, flowing along each leg and into the center to give a high pressure joint flawless strength even 200 years after introduction. This is a stunning table for any collector of 19th Century English furn

The white spots i think are dirty spots on my lens that i can't seem to get off. at any rate, for auction is a wonderful early period piece. i expect it was made circa 1860 or so. it has a very thick skirt both high and wide. all original as far as i can tell, pegged together. tilts and locks perfectly. it is as solid as a rock and does not wiggle, wobble, creak, or move in anyway other that it is intended to do. the pedestal is a nice turned mahogany piece as well as the three legs. legs are drilled for casters but there are none in it, but it would require a short shank caster with sleeve. these are easy to come by should you want some. there is a large beaded molding along the bottom of the skirt. there are a few pieces of the beading missing but it is not noticeable. the top appears to be walnut, ... morethe secondary joist supports are oak i believe. it is not uncommon for these early pieces which are hand crafted to be constructed of several type woods. it is a wonderful piece. it is 30 inches wide and 29 inches tall without caster. any question please ask. i gave 700 for it quite some time ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

American Federal Period Sheraton Mahogany Pembroke Table, New York c. 1810-20
Fine American Federal Period Sheraton Pembroke Table New York c. 1810-20. Crafted of magnificent solid mahogany boards, entirely original! Item# 120011RYI24 This listing is for a remarkable and very fine Sheraton Pembroke table of the Federal Period. This is a labor intensive and difficult finish to apply, layer after countless layer of shellac being rubbed into the surface by hand, but when done properly the result ... moreis breathtaking. Our as

PAIR OF PERIOD HEPPLEWHITE CONSOLE TABLES / DINING TABLE, mahogany
You are bidding on a PAIR of PERIOD console tables that join to make a dining table. Made late 18th century to early 19th century.definitely NOT made after 1830. Mahogany SOLID ONE BOARD TOPS on each console table. The tables are gateleg. Meaning the two rear legs swing out to support a dropleaf which unfortunately is missing. The two tables can still be joined to make a dining table or used as console tables. They are joined by wooden pegs(not nails) which naturally are raised due to expansion over time(this is exactly what you want to see) The table tops appear to retain their original finish which is beautiful. The legs take more abuse and are therefore scratched. These tables have scratches and blemishes which I consider a lot of character. English Regency Period Mahogany Drop Leaf Table
Antique Mahogany Drop Leaf Dining Table. I am not an expert(yet) but tables that are similar are called: Duncan Phyfe Style; English Regency period; from circa 1820 and are described as such: Regency Style base with brass paw feet; rectangular hinged drop leaves with rounded corners and routered edge; on 3 turned columns(base) each having 2 reeded splayed legs. You can look up similar tables by these descriptions for comparison. This has two table leaves for extending the size. It has some table pads/ protectors with one soft fuzzy side that goes next to the wood and one vinyl size that goes up to protect against moisture and spills. You would use a table cloth over the table pads. Ladies always used these. They would be very finicky about their wood and keeping things in pristine condition. This table has wear. Marking and scratches. It ... moreis not pristine. It is a good solid table. I personally would not refinish it. I like time- worn, imperfect pieces with history. If you put it in a beautiful room with beautiful decor and accessories the imperfections are not the focus. It is sturdy, well-made and beautiful. Approximate measurements: 27 1/4" W x 40" L(with the drop leaves down) each extra leaf(for extending the table size) is 19" W(and the same length as the table) So figure 2 of those 19" leaves equals 38" that you could extend your table. The table is 29 1/2" High. Local pick up only.

PERIOD HEPPLEWHITE PEMBROKE TABLE BOSTON CIRCA 1820'S SOLID HONDURAN MAHOGANY
POWERFUL SOLID HONDURAN MAHOGANY BOSTON PEMBROKE TABLE-EARLY 19TH CENTURY With our compliments we are honored to offer you this exceptionally high quality solid figured Honduran mahogany Boston Circa 1820's Hepplewhite period large Pembroke table. The top is made from three solid single planks of the absolute best Honduran mahogany with a big bold grain. It has a cock bead molded drawer with a great hand chamfered base panel and stands on gracefully reed carved and turned legs. Each of the leaves are supported by double finger joint carved leaf supports. We initially thought this was a good average Boston Hepplewhite period table but upon closer inspection we discovered that it was something very special. No attention to detail was sparred and the weight of this dense mahogany is substantial. The table is in a great original finish. Very ... moregood condition with its original brasses. We note one leaf got a bit more sun exposure than the other but its very gradual in tone. There are some very small seasoning splits on the tables leafs which is a typical issue with cuts of this mahogany as thick and wide as these. The table is 39 1/2" long, 24" wide with its leaves down and 56" wide with the leafs lock up. It stands 29 1/2" tall and obviously the works of one of Boston's best early 19th Century furniture shops. PLEASE READ. WELCOME TO. BAY COLONY ANTIQUES.
