for auction a wonderful antique empire mahogany huge library table or partner's desk. it is 60 inches wide. 36 inches deep, and 30 inches tall. it has a full length drawers on both sides but they are of course on opposite sides. this is just a great piece. the double pedestal is so well carved and the feet are magnificent. it also has great carved corners. i took these pictures about dark so they lack a good bit quality wise, but maybe you can ascertain the quality and beauty of this table. it could have been made by thomas day, i am not sure who the maker, but whoever it was, the table is great. the feet are just the best i have ever seen. as you can see, there is a carved bundle of leaves and other items that come over the top of the stretcher and rest there. great piece. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's ... moreexpense. i can help arrange shipping should that be beneficial to anyone. good luck. ps. i paid a bundle for it some time ago and am just trying to get the investment back. i just took a look at the pictures, they are a bit dark and i pulled it out of the basement as i have room in the house for it and proceeded to dust it off with liquid gold. i see that i forgot to dust the stretcher. anyway, a good cleaning would do it good.

without a doubt this is one of the finest thomas day tables i have ever owned. i have had a few of them and always sold them for a decent price. i have had a couple of swivel top game tables go for better than 3000.00 and just recently sold a tilt top day table for around 1800 i believe it was. A rather small table but as all of day's pieces, it was built to perfection. if you don't know about thomas day, you should google him, very interesting reading plus informative as to the quality of pieces he made. at any rate, i have for sale the only drop leaf game table by day i have ever owned and i must say it is as nice as any as i have owned. martin terry also a black man and an expert on antique furniture assured me that this is a day table. when you look at this table you can not take your eyes off of it. it has by far the finest mahogany ... moregrain i have seen on any furniture piece. it has a wonderful acanthus carved pedestal that is supported by expertly fashion legs that are mortised in and finally sits on very nice and proportional size claw feet. the table could be used as a drop leaf kitchen table, but the drawer which is hand chamfered and has hand cut dove tails is a drawer for poker chips, cards, and other games. it has 8 compartments. the table is very heavy and extremely well made. note the leaf supports, two on each side which are mortised into the table skirt with expert tooling work. also note how the legs are mortised into the base of the pedestal to perfection. the table is a great and convenient size, when the leaves are down it is( the center section alone0 24.25 inches wide and 39 inches long, and stands 28 inches high. with the leaves up it is a bit over 44 wide, 39 inches deep, and 28 inches high. this table you just want to stare at and rub your hand over. the finest grain ever and feels like satin glass. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. i can help arrange for shipping should anyone need help there. note, i just went over it with furniture polish but i see i fa

for auction is one of the finest empire mahogany dining tables i have owned in this price range. i have had horner and others that were in excess of 10-14.000, but none any better built or better quality. this is a great 54 inch split pedestal table with a great turned center leg suppot. it has three 14 inch leaves which have the same grain, color, and patina as the top. leaves installed makes this an eight foot table. if the leaf runner stops were removed, i expect it would open to 12 feet. the table is presented in original finish, there is some crazing to the finish but i would never refinish it. the table is solid mahogany with no veneers, has great grain and a fantastic pedestal which is heavily carved and contoured. the feet are massive claw feet which are carved all the way up the knee to the pedestal. i sold this table to a fella ... moremaybe 3 or 4 years ago and he needed some money, so i have him his money back. with shipping charges i have almost as much in the table as i am starting it for. i am taking it apart to put in storage as i have no room in my house for it. i have like 3o pictures so if you want to see anything else hopefully i have a picture of it, if not i can get one. the table may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. i just spent several hours cleaning the dirt and grim out of the carvings etc. i used new life and liquid gold, so if it looks a bit shinny here and there i probably didn't get all the cleaner wiped away. any spots or usual looking objects in any of the pictures if from a dirty camera. i can't seem to get some of the junk off the lens.

A very fine late Victorian French Empire style maple table with bronze mounts. The top bronze framing Belgian marble. The legs have bronze lady Egyptian heads with anthemium trailing below, the booties in stiff acanthus leaf. The stretcher shelf has a bronze band of leaf, and beads, the table skirt with band of bound reeds. The polished marble top is fine. Table measures 26-3/4" diameter by 29-1/2" tall. Excellent condition: maple without chips or cracks, original finish, all bronze mounts present and with original patination. The marble is without chips or cracks, most normal minor use scratches.

for sale is a very nice serpentine top mahogany empire center table. it has unique base that still retains 4 casters. it is early circa 1870 or so and maintains its original finish. i cleaned it and the grain is wonderful in the table. it has bead and bead like molding along the base of the apron or skirt. At the base of the pedestal, and midway between the contoured base. i think all the beads are still present. it is a very solid, sturdy, and functional table with no wiggles or wobbles. it sits level and does not teeter. it is a nice size being 31.75 by 31.25 inches on the top. the base is 19 inches square. it may be picked up at my home or transported at buyer's expense. good luck.

Antique Salesman sample mahogany drop leaf table Empire child’s furniture
This is an empire style drop leaf table that was either a salesman display piece or a childs. The table is made of mahogany and is 15 ½ inches high. 20 inches deep, 28 ½ inches across open and 12 ¾ inches across closed. The drawer is dovetailed and the bottom is hand chamfered. The nails are hand made. We believe the table dates to around 1820. It has wear on the top and a scratch on one of the leaves. The leaves work properly. The shipping cost is expensive due to the oversize of the box needed to pack the table.

You are bidding on a beautiful antique dining room table from the mid-late 1800's. I believe this is a mahogany dropleaf table from the Empire period(circa 1860) Measures 29" high by 40" long. There is a leaf that hangs on each side each measuring 15 1/4" Each leaf is held up by a wooden swing arm that folds out from the center of the table. Table is on a 20 x 22" pedestal base with metal wheels. When leaves are closed. The top measures 40" x 22 1/4" actually 23 3/4" with the edges of the leaves) or 40" x 52 3/4" when open. The table is in excellent condition with only a small chip on the base near the floor and a small crack underneath the bottom of the pedestal base. It comes with two long drop leaves that are 16 inches long and all original condition. It is truly a period table from the 1860s. The table when it is closed up is 40 inches long. 22 inches deep and 29.5 inches high. When you take the two 16 inches leaves up and flip them up in place it becomes 52 inches deep and 40 inches long. The finish on the table is original believe it or not and shows minor ring marks here and there from plant pots. On the empire diamond column traditional jelly roll footed base with the ogee molded edges on both ends. It has solid mahogany leaves. One side is unbelievably straight given the age and the other side has the typical bow or curl to it where it is warped slightly on the leaf and is very useable. When it is flipped down you will not see it and that is how most people use this type of table. It is in the old original finish and has never had any refinishing done on it. Predominantly 19th Century Item# 1406NPP23P A remarkably handsome table. This deeply patinated piece is in nearly perfect condition for use and enjoyment in the home. A visually striking object, the broad top is crafted of several large solid planks routed along the outer rim for a clean and functional surface- the top is replaced, the evidence in the capital of the pedestal suggesting the original top was a"flip" top. The square capital of the pedestal is mostly original, retaining the large hand forged screws through a dovetailed plank secured to the square of the undercarriage. The pedestal truly sets the table apart. The whole being a faceted baluster ... morewith a robust medial swell, constructed with thick deeply worn pine veneers around a central core with a large screw running through it into the base below. Encircling the pedestal is a ring of gorgeous carved walnut over the circular laminated and veneered pine base- affixed beneath this are three intense Lion Paw feet, each carved of solid walnut and appearing to be original. They are secured with large period screws at the back, the underside with many modern screws to help strengthen the base. This is a gorgeous acquisition for anyone decorating their home with a French Cottage or Continental Empire appeal. The table going remarkably well with Swedish and Gustavian forms while being comfortable amongst most finer furnishings. It is an unusual and wonderful piece. VERY FINE FRENCH EMPIRE ORMOLU MOUNTED MAHOGANY PIER TABLE Circa 1815 Item# 409PLI13Q This is an exceptional and nearly untouched work from the French Empire period. The only change in two hundred years being the replaced marble top and removal of the mirrored back. It retains a wonderful early mellowed surface, the match booked mahogany veneers now a warm cognac hue from years in the sun. The drawer and columns retain their original gilt bronze embellishments and hardware, these of utmost quality and precision- note the very fine chasing and filing of details and quality of the surfaces. The carcass is oak beneath the mahogany veneers, the structure joined almost entirely with dovetailed corners and braces. This is an exceptional find for anyone passionate about works of the French Empire period.
