American Classical Server Sideboard of Petite Dimensions Acanthus Carved c. 1820
American Classical Mahogany Serving Table or Petite Sideboard Probably Mid-Atlantic States. C. 1815-25 Item# 130006JNP21 This is a precious little serving table. Possibly crafted to be a petite sideboard for a smaller home or occasional table for along the wall. It is incredibly attractive, crafted with utmost care and selection to create an exciting surface that is full of life and movement. A work of the Late Federal or American Classical period, it is preserved in simply wonderful condition. The top is a single solid plank of mahogany, a fact that has resulted in light cracking along the top that was professionally restored at some point- the flowing plumb-pudding mahogany top is finished with rounded edges that project over the case. Two smaller drawers over one longer drawer are framed in flame-mahogany veneers, these matched to create ... morethe wavy peaks so sought after in mahogany. The drawers retain their original round knob hardware, two drawers with original steel locks(one absent) the sides/back/bottom board of poplar and the front yellow pine beneath the mahogany veneers. The bottoms are deeply chamfered with glue blocks along the edges and nailed at the back(some nails added/replaced) The interior of the case is untouched other than the repairs to the top, primarily being crafted of yellow pine secondaries with warm even color from oxidization over the years. Supporting the case are four acanthus carved posts capped in tight ring turnings and terminating over ring turnings and large ball feet. These are stretched with a solid mahogany shelf. Joining each leg at the squared ankle and giving perfect proportion to the case. It is a risky design, one that could become awkward and spindly without the perfect treatment of the bottom shelf, adding mass to the legs while retaining the airy and clean lines. VICTORIAN ROUND OAK HUNT TABLE ANTIQUE C1880 SOLID CARVED FRUIT ACANTHUS LEAVES
Here is a really cool French 19th century Breton solid oak table with a slightly oval top with gadrooned carved edge over an inset apron and mounted on a superbly carved scroll leg quadrupled base. The base has various fruits and lots of acanthus leaves and C scrolls of the period which may be as early as 1860. Width = 45" Length = 41" closed) Length = 83 1/2" open) There are no leaves. However, leaves could be easily made. I have a quote for $200 for 4 10 to 10 1/2 inches each. Height = 28 1/2" When pulled open. There are four solid turned legs which drop down to support the table ends. When the table is closed, these legs are just tucked up underneath the table along with the slide mechanism. There are no leaves, however, I can get a quote on making leaves for the table if desired. The locking mechanism which holds the ... moretwo sides o the table together is marked"BREVETE" and there is a mark of what looks like 2 crossed keys and two initials possibly VF in the center of the crossed"keys" Let me just emphasize that I will make shipping easy for you! As we define'good condition' relative to the stated age of the piece, we would expect to see'character marks' consistent with that age and could include nicks or dings on a piece of furniture, normal separation at joints in wood due to expansion and contraction over time. There has been some professional restoration to the base and on the top where the wood had expanded. Description This is an antique period American federal card table with acanthus carved pedestal and paw feet. It is made of mahogany with solid crotch mahogany wood revolving top. It is probably 1850s in age. It is original finish and very clean. It measures 28 inches in height. The top is 37 inche sin length and 18 inches deep, when open is is 37 inches wide and 36 inches deep. There is no makers name on it but is probably New York made. It is a good looking antique American card table. The top will unscrew from the base so we can ship the pieces out seperately thru fedex ground. Outstanding American Acanthus Carved Federal Marble Top Console Table
A superb table. American made probably Philadelphia and dates about 1845-60. The base is solid high grade old growth imported Mahogany, imagine in those days having to acquire the mahogany to construct this table. The design and carving detail is brilliant, the craftsmanship is so crisp and clean. These were true craftsman who would make a table of this nature and did a fine job at it! The incredible acanthus carved center post supported by 4 outstretched legs with paw feet are the base holding the white statuary marble top. A great console table that would look good sitting in the center of a room. We just completed the restoration on this one and it's finished all around and nothing left untouched.
