Condition: Unspecified Location: Salem, United States for sale is a very nice george hunzinger parlor or center table. it is made of mahogany and comes to you in original finish. i would never refinish it. ... moreBut the top has some minor scratches here and there and a few dimples, none of which bother me and do not alter the use or function of the table in any way. some people however prefer for a piece to look perfect or new and if so, the top could be refinished in an hour or so if one chose to do so. twisted and turned legs, supports, stretchers, verticals and horizontals are perfect as far as i can tell. the table joints are all very firm and solid and do not wiggle or wobble or move. a very sound piece. the round incised center part of the stretcher has the hunzinger inventory numbers 355 on its bottom. the ball and claw feet have the rarer wooden balls, most are glass. they have no apparent damage. the question many times arises how they got the balls inside cast brass or iron claws, which when heated might be able to spread a bit, but by the time the balls could be inserted, the metal would be too cold to form back without breaking them. at any rate, a nice and hard to come by table. i am starting it for far less that it sold for 20 years ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. it looks shiny or wet, that is because i just cleaned and polished it before taking pictures. i forgot to mention its size. it is 30 inches by 30 inches by a bit over 28 inches. also i just got a message from an expert about this table, of course there is an expert on every corner, but i think this guy probably has a better idea of what he is talking about than some other experts. at any rate, he said the table was made by merklen bros. and that the wooden balls are a signature of their work. i bought it from an expert that told me it was hunzinger, actually i do not care who made it, it is a great table of its form.
