One of the finest rope carved drop leaf mahogany Sheraton tables we have had the pleasure of handling in several years-this table has a one board top and drop leaves. The ends of the table are made from solid figured mahogany with carved moldings. It flows into four of the finest rope carved legs we have ever seen terminating into original delicate pivoting caster wheels. The table is in an exceptional all original condition. It has a super mellow patina and appears like it has spent its life in a time capsule. It is 18 3/4" long with its leaves down and 40 1/2" with the leaves locked up. It is 35 3/4" wide and 20 1/2" tall. The rope carved legs(rope carving symbolizing the families fortune was made at sea-as is the case here) have carved rings at their tops. Over the years. The mahogany has developed a lovely patina that contributes to its rich grain and lustrous complexion, which should only continue to grow more beautiful with time. We refer to this style of table as the Regency style due to the nicely turned pedestal and the fluted and splayed legs. The feet are a brass claw foot and caster. Because this pedestal table is also a drop leaf table, it is very versatile, perfect as a side table, hall table, serving table or dining table. The convenient pedestal design also means that this drop leaf table has a sturdy base and legs that are not too intrusive. Obviously this table has been meticulously cared for over the years as it remains in very good condition today. The drop leaves function smoothly. The leaves are supported by a swing out wooden arm on each side. There are some very light marks and scratches on the top. But these do not detract from the overall beauty of the table. One of the legs has been broken and expertly repaired down by the feet, we have included pictures of this repair. It is sturdy and strong. The seat cushions have been freshly upholstered in a lovely sage green fabric. The table has a double pedestal with ribbed feet and brass caps. There is one leaf with this table. The tabletop finish is worn in places and the finish has faded to a lighter shade than the leaf. The table and chairs are very solid and sturdy and the overall condition is very good. I do not know the maker or exact date this set was made. This set is antique and will not be perfect. The table measures 30 3/8 inches tall, 40 inches side to side and 60 ¼ inches front to back without the leaf and 72 ¼ inches front to back with the leaf. It weighs 93 pounds.
