I combine purchases. I dont find any makers mark. Tried to show you true color in lamp. Definite mustard yellow with black fleur de lis and black accents. The shade is perfect inside as seen in photo with a few light scratches on the outside(very minimal) The shade itself measures about 12 inches across x 5 3/4 tall. Has one pin to hold the white glass shade and is Im pretty sure for a three way bulb. In great shape for age. Very minimal wear of black basicaly in one part that I see. Whole thing measures about 28 inches tall at the loop x 18. On the bottom is a metal plate that does have some rust but it doesnt affect the lamp. The shade is meant to fit perfectly on the white glass shade so it doesnt move. I dont know if it would hold a glass chimney or not but it doesnt look like it was intended for that. Here is a fabulous pair of early to mid-twentieth century French country arm chairs with rush bottom seats. Cabriole legs, carved feet and beautifully carved across the front of the seat as well as the backrest with a shell and flower motif as shown. These two chairs are in very nice condition for their age as represented with multiple pictures. The chairs are both tight and sturdy with strong, tight rush bottom seats that were probably replaced in the latter 20th century. The chairs each stand 38 inches tall to the top of the back and measure 21 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches front to back. The seats are 15 inches in height and are 20 1/2 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches, front to back. The back rest and across front of the seats on the chairs are beautifully carved and appear to have hand turned stretchers. These chairs appear to be made of walnut, ... morewith rush bottom seats. There is slight wear to the finish in spots, the carved rose on the top doesn't have any losses, and there is a crack on the topof the frame,but it isn't noticable(I tried to get some photos, but again it is not noticable! Please note the legs' feet would need a bit of touch-up. I believe the wood is oak but not 100% sure. Please use your judgment when evaluating wood's kind. Measurements are all approximate within the inch: The console is wider at the bottom(by the floor) than at the top. Main body interior is 16 inches deep by 48 inches long by 30 inches tall. 2 front drawers with two side drawers. Swing out to the side as shown! Solid oak everywhere! Even the drawer linings. Draw sides and back are all oak and not an inferior wood. The interior is all oak. The doors lock but I have lost the key! Currently all the doors are unlocked! Inside at the back somebody cut a hole out. Not sure why that was done but it is there! The only newish part is an interior shelf which is in the main ... morebody. I believe it is still solid oak but it lacks the patina of the original. The glass is not damaged anywhere. The marble has exquisite shading and color. With pink, grey and purple variations. It has light scratches on the top and minor tiny chips on the edge as expected for a piece this age. It is not broken anywhere! The carvings are so wonderful with urns. Horns, ribbons, roses, tassels, swags and leaves. Both front panels have cracks on the decoration as seen in the photographs. Very reluctantly for sale! I’m selling the 2 as a pair. One is sold separately. These are 19th century French wool needlepoints that are hand stitched. The condition is rough. There are several missing stitches and several repairs. Still and all I love the colors and the condition doesn’t bother me. That being said. If you demand perfection then these are not for you. These were the seats of chairs. The pillow that is different from the pair was the back of a chair and therefore is in better condition. The needlepoint area measures approx. 18.5” x 20” The colors are deep blue(somewhere between royal and navy) burnt orange, red, green, cream, gold and more. Revealing the interior, which is about 52” from side to side and 13” deep and 52” tall. We have added two 1 ½” thick heavy duty pine shelves, which are completely adjustable and will hold a lot of weight. The shelves were aged to look old and will not stand out. The front doors are covered with gathered French country style fabric, which can be removed so that you can see the interior through the glass. The lock is in working condition, complete with the key. The bibliotheque measures about 59” at the widest point and about 20 ¾” deep. It stands up about 63 ½” tall and the top surface can be used as a shelf, displaying collectable items. Very heavy, solid and well built item. We were using it in our office for files and fabric samplers and it is hard to find a bookcase which will fit oversized files and provide such great access as this item does. The primer material is oak, however, secondary woods was also used on the sides and the back, which is common for 18th Century furniture. This lot is listed for local pickup from 95031 Los Gatos. Description Vintage Country French Sideboard or Buffet We are so excited to be able to offer you a few exquisite pieces from a local estate. The consignee is moving and felt they could part with just a few things and that makes this your lucky day! This lovely country French style sideboard was made especially for her grandfather when they lived in France in the 20's and 30's. Although she was told by someone it was cherry. I believe it to be golden oak. The piece is absolutely exquisite and has been in the same family for almost 100 years. Notice the wonderful hand carving along with the attention to detail in the shelf brackets. The closing mechanisms and the escutheons around the key holes. The consignee is moving and felt they could part with just a few things and that makes this your lucky day! This lovely country French style buffet was made especially for her grandfather when they lived in France in the 20's and 30's. Although she was told by someone it was cherry. I believe it to be golden oak. The piece is absolutely exquisite and has been in the same family for almost 100 years. Notice the wonderful hand carving along with the attention to detail in the shelf brackets. The closing mechanisms and the escutheons around the key holes. The piece is in two parts. The top section has one shelf with glass doors and the silverware drawer in the center. The bottom has one shelf ... morewith wooden doors. Overall it is 60" wide and 81" tall. The bottom section is 42" high and 20" deep. The top section is 39" high at the top of the crown, 35" high at the top of the piece and 12 3/4" deep. There is a 16" opening between the top of the bottom piece and the bottom of the top piece. The piece is in very good condition. There are a few spots where the finish has been compromised however some TLC would quickly repair most of those. Besides. I think those things add character! All the doors close properly and the shelves show no sign of warping. Overall this is a lovely piece and would be an addition to any setting. Antique 17th C. French Country Book Bible Stand Lectern Original Paint
I am relisting this item because I have come to believe it is older than I first thought; I think it is from the 17th rather than the 18th century. Hand planed and carved wood. Wood peg construction, and fabulous old paint distinguish this French flea market find. The decoration features the Jesuit symbol, with IHS, three thorns below and typical Jesuit cross above the initials. IHS stands for the Holy Name of Jesus; the letters are a Latinization of the first three letter of Jesus' name in Greek. The laurel wreath became associated with Napoleon in the early 19th century. But was used throughout history as a symbol of victory in battle. Usually the Jesuit symbols are surrounded by a circle of sun rays. There may be a special meaning in the unusual combination of symbols here, or it may simply have been the artisan's choice. The figures ... morein the four quadrants may indicate the year 1697, although the"1" and the"6" followed as they are by initials, may be letters. I would love to discover the meaning of all of these symbols. But even without interpretation, the painted decoration on this piece is simply beautiful. The colors are rich and fairly give off light under the warm waxy patina of centuries of use. Photos cannot do this beautiful object justice. It would be a fine Bible or book stand. And would be wonderful as a cookbook stand in the kitchen. Lectern is 15" wide. 9" tall. Original paint on all surfaces, with some wear but very little loss.
