Description This is an antique carved wood- I think it is oak- pediment. It measures 52-1/2" long by 14" high and 3" deep. It has its original beveled mirror in the center. It is in good condition- nice carvings- there is one corner- lower right where there is a piece of wood missing. I have shown that in last photo with green box around it. Mirror has some loss of silver. There is a wire on the back to hang it. Great decorative piece to hang alone or part of wall grouping or use over door or window. Email wiht questions. Drop dead MAGNIFICENT PIECE! Circa 1800s. Architectural panel. The carving is off the charts. Add hooks for a great one of a kind coatrack! The piece has raised bevelled framing along the outside. Ornate trim divides 3 separate sections. In each section is raised beveled panels. Carved crests at each end and 4 round pyramid medallions. 100% of carving is present and intact! Pieces of this quality are getting harder and harder to find. Nice walnut patina. It measures slightly over 36 1/8 inches by 11 3/4 inches. ANTIQUE SOLID OAK CARVED GALLERY PEDIMENT w/FINIALS & SPINDLES
Up for bid is a stunning antique mid to late 19th century. Solid oak furniture pediment or top gallery that probably once graced a nice cupboard or cabinet. Standing nearly 10" high x 43-1/2" in length, this pediment has returns of 13" in length or depth. There are 4 finials that grace the top rail of the gallery rail above some very nicely turned, urn shaped spindles. Each blocked plynth holds a finial rising above the railing and is faced with a double hip-like rectangular medallion situated on at least 3 sides of the plynth. The center is nicely carved with a rectangular hip-like medallion, flanked by carved acanthus leaves. The two center finials are missing the top ball portion of the finial, as seen in the pics, unlike the two outer finials, which are complete. The missing ball tops, must have broke off quite a few years ... moreago, because the top grain of wood, shows quite a bit of patina. There also appears to be remnants of old white paint, in some of the oak grain, though it also looks like it could be removed if the winning bidder deems it necessary. There is even some quartersawn oak used at the block plynths and finials. At present, there does not seem to be any other finish covering the wood. If you're looking for a superb solid oak gallery or furniture pediment, you'll not want to miss out bidding on this gem, and allowing it to get away. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING SOLID & VENEER QUARTERSAWN OAK CARVED PIANO BOARD PEDIMENT
Up for bid is. As the title states, an"Absolutely Stunning" antique carved quartersawn oak pediment. Standing just about 17-1/2" high x just under 54" wide and maybe 3/4 to 7/8" thick, this pediment is divided into three panels. Each panel is heavily carved with oak leaves and acorns. There are a few minor places, pointed out on the left panel where some of the carving has chipped off, but these places are minor and do not take away from the beauty of this pediment as a whole. Believed to be from a piano or pump organ, possibly dating back to the late 19th century, this panel has survived a lot of years. There is also some minor veneer pulled away from the foundation of wood, probably oak, underneath, as pointed out in the 3rd pic, but I believe this could be easily fixed with a little hide glue, with a wax paper ... morecover and some heavy weight like a few books laid on top to push it back down, while the glue drys. There is also one piece of veneer, seen in the last pic which has come off and will be included so that if you, as the winning bidder, deem it necessary, can re-glue it as well. The pediment does have it's original finish though aged quite a bit, It could easily be cleaned to bring out more of it's stunning quartersawn grain patterns. Shipping and insurance will be close to $45.00, due to size alone, except to Hawaii, Alaska and all international destinations, where I will ship to, however, costs tend to be a bit higher. I was saying in one of my other listings how I bought a whole large box filled with a mixture of old antique hand carved pediments at the auctiion- I'll be listing them for weeks. So be sure to keep checking. This one is soooo pretty- and, it has one nail sticking out the back which I've left where it is, because I want you to see that it is an old forged iron sqaure nail. I don't know if this piece came off of a larger architectural piece, or if it was a piece of furniture, but whatever it was, it was grand, for sure. Measuring 5 1/8" widest, it is 8 1/8"tallest and 1 3/4" thickest. It weighs 1/2 lb and is all hand carved out of one solid piece of wood. The finish is beautiful on this one- a little dusty(it needs a cleaning, I have not cleaned it orr messed with the as found patina in any way) but really, with veryvery little wear that can be seen. I'm in love with the feet of the bird- I just can't stop looking at them- the carving is incredible. I purchased a whole box full of old carved pediments removed from their original home- some reallyreally stunning pieces. So you'll want to keep checking in the next coulple of weeks. Although this fella has some damage, I just couldn't let that get in the way of how beaitiful he is. Now, I don't know if he came off of a piece of furniture, or was part of an architectural wall piece, but wherever he lived, it was grand for sure. Antique Victorian window box valences with female carved heads. They are wood with gesso type material forming decorations. Offering a set of 3 valences(50" wide X 6" deep X 14" tall. They came out of an old Victorian estate in Massachusetts. They are not in perfect condition as there are some medallions missing as well as a several chips in the gold finish. I have most of the missing medallions and the other areas can be restored. These would look fantastic in an old Victorian or Colonial style home. Please rely on photos for cosmetic condition. Any other determination would be speculative. They are being offered as is and must be picked up. Gorgeous Old Vintage Carved Turned Wood Pediment Post Ladies Faces OKAY. Listing new items from loooots of places this week- we went up to Antiques on the Bluff in beautiful St. Joseph Michigan as we always do this time of year, and I found some really unique oldees. I'm also still listing items from the Route 127 sale in Ohio, and the antique store auction- sososo many cool things- you'll want to keep checking! This one is such a curiosity to me! I don't know if it was made to be an architectural pediment. Or a furniture pediment, but it appears to me as if it was made an never used. How sad, don't you think, because it is a hands-down gorgeous one of a kind piece. Now, I'm calling it old vintage in my title, but I do believe that it could be old enough to be antique. I purchased some very cool and very old antique pediments ... moreat the antique store auction. This is one of my favorites. It's carved from one piece of solid turned wood- you can see the marks on either end from the turning, and the carving is of two lady's heads- one upside down, depending upon how you tunn it. The detail is exquisite- please supersize and look at all of my photos. It doesn't appear to have ever been stained or varnished- the dark color of the patina is natural, I do believe. That being said, I do think that it looks lighter in my photos on my screen than it does to the eye. It measures 2 3/4" wide, 3 3/4" deep and 13 3/4" tall. It's heavy, weighing a smidge under 2 lbs. The back as wells as the ends are flat. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's minor small cracks to the wood where there is no movement at all. There's some teenie nicks and nibbles to the wood- and one that looks like it could have been a fallen out knot, or original- I'm showing it in photo 6 and it's on one of the ends. VERY NICE ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT CARVED EMBELLISHED PEDIMENT
Up for bid is a very nice Victorian era. Antique solid walnut furniture pediment. Standing 12" high x 25-3/4" wide x 1-1/2" or better thick, you'll find find carved grapes and leaves. There are a few cracks in the wood backing, but they have been fixed and so the pediment itself is very structurally sound. The pediment, I believe was part of a headboard to a bed, however, what you see is all I found. This would be a nice accoutrement to hang on the wall above a window opening, a doorway or a mirror, to add just a hint more of embellishment to any room in the house. Highly Detailed Pair of Carved Wood Angel Wings
The detailed feather carving on these is marvelous. Each wing is 13" x 7.5" x 3/4" This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects. This item can be combined with others to save on shipping.
