Beautiful Kiln Fired French Enamel Opera Glasses
These are a beautiful pair of La Duchesse opera glasses. Made in Paris France, circa 1900. The brass has a beautiful aged patina, and the body is a gorgeous kiln fired enamel, with a lovely pink background, with flowers and Dragon Flies. The eye pieces are crowned in Mother of Pearl, with the La Duchesse, Paris mark on each one. The glass has no cracks and the optics are great, The lenses raise by the Mother of Pearl wheel in the center. Many of these opera glasses come without a handle, but these have a lovely handle, which folds flat against the glasses when not in use, and rotates out for the lady to use to lift them to her eyes. There is one small dent in the brass around one glass on the bottom, but other than that small dent, these opera glasses are in great shape for their age, and have been lovingly taken care of. Antique Enamel Painting and Guilloche Trimmed Opera Glasses
This is a beautiful early pair of cobalt and guilloche trimmed floral enameled opera glasses. They are cobalt with floral medallions and gold and white relief enclosures with guilloche trim at the bases and tops.The lenses are present and in good shape The frames that screw down over the eye pieces are marked L.M. Prince Cincinatti. I don't know if the white caps on the eyepieces and nose piece are original because there is a gap as you can see in the image on each and the eyepieces have tiny fine brass eyeglass-like screws that extend at the gaps.There is a small enamel loss on the white in the upper corner of the floral medallion on one panel which I have imaged and one tiny cobalt pinhead-sized loss on the edge of another panel. There is another tiny loss to the enamel right under the eyepiece.There are also a few of the lifted beads ... moreon the white and gold dotted trim missing. Antique French Limoges Enamel on copper Plaque- Portrait of St. Augustine. By Mettie E. Webb, dated 1-5-05 We are pleased to present this lovely French Limoges enamel painted plaque of St. Augustine. The enamel painting utilizes the earlier'grisaille' or grey tone on black style along with the colored enamels on foil technique which was a little later. Also highlighted by a trace amount of gold gilding on the edge of the helmet and used in signing the artist's name and date. The handsome portrait of the man is very well executed by the artist. Mettie E. Webb. We were fortunate in having found this piece along with bits of information that helps us with knowing what the title of the painting was as well as the artist name and date on the front. The remnants of the label attached to the backside reads: No. 73/ LIGHT(I) St. Augustin(e) ... moreBequeathed by METTIE E. WEBB" Please see photos. The plaque is framed in its original decorated frame of gesso wood with a tooled leather liner. Please refer to the photos for the details of the frame and portrait. The backside is worn, faded and has had earlier repairs to the hinge stand. Measurements: The plaque itself measures approximately 5 inches in height x 3 3/4 inches in width. The framed image is approximately 10 inches x 8 1/2 inches. Condition: The enamel plaque is in very good condition with only slight wear to some of the gilding on the helmet. No Chips. Cracks, scratches or repairs or restorations were noted. The frame is another issue in itself. The gesso wood trim surrounding the portrait has a 3/4 inch piece missing. This trim is cracked in several places but the pieces are pretty much still intact. There are small chips and flakes around the edges of the frame as well. The silk material backside is worn and faded. The hinge stand has been repaired earlier, but is again in need of some attention. These are absolutely STUNNING French opera glasses that I have had displayed with a large French doll until recent times. It is now time for them to find a new home. They measure across in diameter approximately 10cm(4" at their widest point. They stand in height approximately 7cm(3 3/4" with the lenses in. They were produced in France although there are no markings. They have been enameled in porcelain and are a vivid blue. Then they have been handpainted with delicate flowers and beading. They have been dated to Circa 1880 or earlier. The outer parts of the glasses are made from brass with mother of pearl at the end of the lenses as well as in the centre to turn the lenses up or down. These are priced extremely cheaply as there is damage on one side(see photo) I have been told this can be repaired but never bothered with researching ... morewhere to get this done as I loved them as they were and the damage could not be seen when they were on display. Antique Viennese enamel novelty table vinaigrette in the form of a closed sedan chair. With an extending pencil. Made in Austria, late 19th- early 20th century. Approx 2 7/8 inches tall. Stands on 4 fat paw feet. THe bottom is enclosed in a gilt metal mount with openwork and raised swags. Curved shape of a Venetian sedan. On either side of which are gilt metal loops holding a pair of poles for slaves/servants to carry. The top has a metal mount echoing that of the bottom and engraved, slightly domed gilt metal roof. The knopf of the roof can be removed, and is in fact the end of a retractable/extending pencil. The front of the vinaigrette has a hinged door. With a gilt metal handle. This listing is for a fine very heavy Russian solid 14k gold. Enamel, diamond and gem set perfume bottle. The bottle measures 3 inches or 7.5 cm high. It comes with it's original wood and velvet lined box. The perfume bottle is as beautiful as it is heavy. It weighs 70 grams or 45 pennyweights. The gold work is in three colors of gold. Yellow. Rose and green gold. The body is fully enameled in cobalt blue. Over the enamel are gold ribbon swags each with a small cabochon cut ruby. Around the top of the bottle over the blue enamel is a circle of rose cut diamonds. There is another circle of diamonds just under the stopper. Between these two rows are leaf forms carved in green gold. The removable stopper is toped by a cabochon large moonstone. Everything about the piece is elegant as you would expect and all solid gold. Welcome to Antiques& Moore! This listing is for a STUNNING 19th Century French enamel miniature sleigh with gilt runners and a gilded eagle mounted on the front. Measures 4 1/2" long. 2 1/4" high and 1 7/8" wide. Both the interior and exterior on the sleigh are elaborated decorated with fine enameled designs. The exterior is a deep ruby red with gilt embellishments and is decorated with a courting scene on each side. The interior is completely decorated with a landscape scene that includes a lake with a garden in the foreground and part of a castle with mountains in the background. This entire scene is done in beautiful pastel colors. This stunning miniature sleigh is absolutely fabulous! The details in the enamel work. The gilt design and structure of the runners and mounting of the eagle in front that appears as if in ... moreflight combine to make an elaborate work of art. The overall condition is exceptional. There are a couple of very fine stress lines in the enamel just behind the back curve of the sleigh that are only noticed with magnification. There is also an area where the body of the sleigh is mounted to the runners that has a very minor amount of missing enamel. This area looks original and the mounting is perfect. However, this tiny area of lost enamel may indicate that at some time this mounting was modified. This is mentioned for accuracy as there is no visible sign of any repair just the unexplaned tiny area of missing enamel. Looking at the incredible painting on the inside of the sleigh and at the beautifully enameled exterior body. This miniature is totally exquisite! It's hard to believe that there is not a signature somewhere on this elaborately enameled piece but we find no signature. This type work was done in several European countries in the mid to late 1800s including France. Austria and Italy. La Maire et Fils, and the enamel artists of Sevres(not to be confused with the porcelain firm, Manufactory Royal de Sevres) whose kiln-fired barrels, here decorated in floral bouquest and silver rocailles against a ground of Celeste Blue(also called Sevres blue) and with raised enamel bead-jewel trim in purple/lavendar. Mother of pearl eyepiece and adjustment wheel are each in fine form, as well as are the lenses. The overall look is one of opulence and history- a nice antique patina on the metal which we will not alter or polish, but the next owner can bring it all to high gold shine with a bit of polish and elbow grease. Description: A superb antique French Napoleon III era enamel and gilt bronze jewelry casket. Adorned with five enamel on copper panels of a gorgeous Sevres'Celeste' blue accented by a jeweled border of raised white enamel dots and gilt accents. Each panel is centered by a painted floral cluster of pale pink roses and blue flowers. Likely forget-me-nots. A charming bouquet, beautifully detailed and the colors are stunning against the vibrant blue background. Such vibrant colors and amazing detail is quite difficult to achieve in the art of fire-kiln enamel on copper. As is typical of these pieces, the enameling was likely by one of the master enamellists of Sevres, similar to Bresson enamels with raised jeweled dots and the quality of Limoges enamels. This is a very unique Austrian enameled vinaigrette in the shape of a coach. The roof opens on a hinge to show a removable pierced grille. The coach is enameled on all sides and surfaces; the metal is gilded. The wheels turn. There are two glass lanterns on each side of the coachmens' seat. Battersea Bilston Enamel – Bouje Candle Box – Wax Jack - C 1780
A very RARE 18th Century English Enamel Bouje Box. The box held a long circular candle that was threaded out of the top. The handle is so you could light your way to bed. The candles are the ones found in a Wax Jack. The ground of the enamel is Pompadour Pink with a raised dot pattern. Roses and flowers depicted within a cartouche. The base is a white ground with a small floral design. There is some light crazing on the enamel. However this box is over 200 years old. Original brass mounts in very good condition. Lift off top. Antique 18th/19th Continental Enamel Snuff Box w Opera Music Map Card A Monsieur
Offered for your consideration is an Antique Continental Enamel Snuff Box that dates to the late 18th early 19th century. It is in overall good condition with a resecured frame that has traces of interior glue. Hairline cracks to the enamel throughout, a chip to the front edge as well as several spots to the interior rim and front corner. The frame is slightly bent and such the lid does not shut completely. There are light glaze scratches and scuffing throughout as well as other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: 1.5" High. 3.25" Wide, 2.5" Deep. THIS IS A VERY RARE AND VERY COLLECTABLE ENGLISH ENAMEL WARE OPEN SALT CELLAR DISH. THIS PIECE IS MOST LIKELY A PRODUCT OF THE BATTERSEA FACTORY CIRCA 1750'S. THIS ROUND ENAMEL SALT HAS A WHITE INNER BOWL AND STANDS ON THREE GOLD ACCENTED BLUE FEET. THE SIDES ARE DECORATED WITH THREE PASTORAL SCENES SEPARATED BY GOLD ACCENTS AND FILIGREE. IT IS ABOUT 1 3/8" TALL AND IS 2 5/8" IN DIAMETER. CONDITION IS VERY GOOD FOR THIS TYPE OF SALT. ALL THE LEGS ARE PRESENT AND ATTACHED. TWO ARE UNDAMAGED AND ONE SHOWS SEPARATION OF THE ENAMEL FRONT AND BACK AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO.
