It is hand hewn solid wood, very thick for todays standards. It was manufactured by the George M. Hammer Co. Ltd. in Strand London in the late 1800's or possibly the VERY early 1900's. They were builders of church and school furniture in England. It still has the brass ink well cover as shown in the pictures and also still has the porcelain casters. The desk part slide in and out for comfort and fit. The bas is 34" long, 11" wide in the front and 14" wide in the back. The desk section measures 22" long, 19" wide, 10" tall in the back and 6" tall in the front. It is 38" tall in the back. It is missing one small wood brace as shown in the pictures. I have had a lot of school desks over the years but this is by far the most unique and rare I have ever found.

This was probably the pride of his collection as it was the one he brought to have photographed. The focus of the Image is on the ship. And not on the face of the man. When magnified. Beautiful German highly detailed hand carved wood statue or figure of a monk drinking out of a beer stein. In good used condtion. Missing a piece of his hat in the back on top. I was absolutely taken aback when I looked at this quilt for the first time! Incredible silk HAND PIECED log cabin barn rising quilt from the 1850s. The size is 62" square. There are 4.116 PIECES on the front of the quilt. Each block measures 4 1/2" and contains 21 very tiny 1/4" wide pieces. Each piece is hand sewn to the chintz backing material in different shades on the back. The quilt front is all silk and is in 99.99% excellent condition! I found two blocks where there is approx. 4 damaged pieces. A few of the pieces have a little fading. The quilt is basted and has never had a back or binding put on. It is VERY RARE to find one this nice in this condition. Would make a DYNAMIC WALL DISPLAY! This quilt comes from an old collection and was probably never used. You are bidding on(2) very old wooden handle hack saws. My antique appraiser put them from the 1930's. They are in great condition. I'm no expert on saws but these could have been used in construction or they could have been a bone and meat saw. I'm really not certain. The handles are solid, the screws and the blades are all in good shape. Both saws feature the double tail back handles and the two saws are almost the same size, 24"s and 25.5"s. Two really nice vintage saws.

This quilt comes from an old collection and was probably never used. Measuring 84" x 80" it has stipple quilting on the blocks and diamond quilting on the teal frames@ 4 to 5 HAND STITCHES per inch. Green and brown threads were used for the quilting on the pieces, and white on the background. The back is a tiny blue dot on white. Some light storage spots as shown, it's UNUSED and UNWASHED. A wonderful c 1850's Light and Dark Log Cabin quilt. ENTIRELY HAND PIECED using worsted and batiste wools. The Dark is made of 1" pieces of thin black wools, and the Light is made of 1" pieces of thin brown heather wools. There are over 700 pieces in this quilt which measures 76" x 74" with a brown heather border and bright red wool centers, binding and frame. The back is a floral cotton. The maker used a running"stitch in the ditch" basting stitch to hold the front to the back in brown thread, which is almost invisible on the back, and there is no batting. Incredible silk HAND PIECED log cabin LIGHT AND DARK quilt from the 1850s. The size is 72" BY 60" There are 2520 HAND PIECED PIECES on the front of the quilt. Each block measures 6" and contains 21 very tiny 1/2" wide pieces. Each piece is hand sewn to the cotton backing material in various lighter shades on the back. The quilt front is all silk with the centers being velvet and is in 95% excellent condition! A few blocks down the center mostly the orange and gold silk has split perhaps from being folded. A few of the pieces have a little fading. The quilt is basted and has never had a back or binding put on. It is VERY RARE to find these early silk log cabins in any condition. There are a few fine line cracks on a couple of sides. Enlarge the photos to see them. This piece was appraised at the Antiques Roadshow in Palm Springs several years ago. At that time. They estimated its value at 1800- 2000, and over 3,000 if I had it repaired, which has not been done. They said it was in better than usual shape for a piece of it's kind. And they said it was made in the late 1800s, they estimated around 1875. It is the size of a small, tall shoebox. The two men who appraised it called others in their department over to see it, since they were impressed by it's beauty. Makers mark can be seen below.
