Antique sets made by“Yale& Towne” of Stamford, CT during the late 1800’s. Each set consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with working key, and 1 3-section spindle with 1 setscrew and 1 securing pin. At some point. All parts were painted a gold color and were lacquered. The knobs have a few spots where the paint wore off, but the paint on the plates is 99% intact All of the locks are reversible and could accommodate either a left or right swing door. Y&T made locks that had bigger spaces between their upper passage latches and lower deadbolt latches than other manufacturers. We have a few strike plates(keeper or receiver plates) that match up just right with the locks. But we would have to modify a few more to ensure that each lock has a matching strike plate. That is why we didn't include one with each set. If you would like a strike plate, you could purchase one from us for $7 each-email us after the auction if you're interested. The oval knobs and escutcheons feature an elegant Neo-Classical style pattern consisting of beads. Acanthus, and seashells. You could tell that the hardware came from a well-maintained home because they are in great condition! There are the typical nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on old. Used hardware, but no breaks, cracks, or gouges. Each lock was opened. Inspected, and we sprayed machine oil on and around all parts to facilitate their movement. A key was made especially for each lock, and we could make more for $8/key-email us after the auction if you are interested.
