It contains photos of most of Stickley's iconic Arts and Crafts offerings from the period. There are penciled notations about dimensions and pricing on several pages, as shown in the photos. An illustration of a willow chair or metal lamp has been removed from the catalog on page 61/62, as shown in the photos. All pages are present. Delightfully, a fragment of the original twine that bound the cover and pages is still present and is shown in the photo of page 33. Several interior pages have pulled loose from the staples. This catalog is a wonderful artifact that showcases Stickley's works in wood, metal, lighting, and willow at the peak of his commercial success. This stool has a wonderful rustic quality and is handcrafted by Hunt Country Furniture in Business since 1926. The spindles of the stool back are thru tennoned in the top rail and the leg ends are also tennoned through the stool seat. The leg stretchers are all pegged in place through the legs and the legs. Spindles, and ... moretop rail are all hand chamfered. The seat is Pine and everything else is Oak or Ash. Condition Good Pre-owned with use and wear including some stable cracks to the pine seat located on the top and bottom which are distinct from one another and do not meet. The leg ends protrude slightly above the seat where they are thru tenoned. The seat has finish wear and scratches with a small saw mark on the left side middle of the seat(viewed from the front where the seat narrows) And there is some green paint on a leg as pictured. This desk is a work of art! It has the Johnson Furniture mark inside the top drawer. Johnson employed some of the most influential designers of this era. Including Eliel Saarinen, Renzo Rutili and Paul Frankl. It measures 44" wide, 29.25" tall, 20" deep. It's a nice, light blonde color, and its smooth-moving drawers have dovetail joints. It's in excellent vintage condition, however, the top has normal wear for its age, but could be refinished by a professional. I never want to mess with the integrity of how I found a piece, especially one with this much historical importance. This desk could easily fit into a modern art museum collection! This is an old vintage set of small table linens. It consists of three 10" x 7 1/2" side panels and one 18 1/2" x 10" center piece. They are made of linen and are hand embroidered. I have included photos of portions of the obverse sides that you may see the trailing ends of the hand embroidery. They are clean but appear slightly off-white consistent with the time-aging of cotton. I suppose laudering can restore original whiteness however I nelected to clean them in any way as some purists prefer items in the"as found" condition. They are in very good condition with no tear. Here is a very nice painted tin sign with wooden back frame work. I do not think this sign has ever been displayed out doors. The colors are very nice. I have not cleaned the sign except for brushing off the dust. This was found hanging inside of an old building so there are screw holes in it. And there is a touch of surface rust at the bottom where the paint is missing in a few small spots. The Big red letter"M" and the word Minnesota are actually raised from the surface. John and Sylvia Reid were at the forefront of British mid-century modern design. They were employed as design consultants by Stag. The mass-market furniture manufacturer, and went on to design some iconic modern pieces. The first project John and Sylvia Reid did for Stag was a bedroom suite called Cumberland. Or the `C` range, which was strikingly minimalist. They took functionalist principles to their logical conclusion and designed a range of furniture that was cheap to mass produce. Vintage Mid-Century Wood Dining Chairs by Basic-Witz Industries Furniture, Inc.
Stunning set of 5 mid-century modern solid wood(walnut? dining chairs by The Basic-Witz Industries Furniture. Inc. Three side chairs and two arm chairs. Great vintage condition! Low backs. Rich color. You rarely see anything from Basic-Witz on the market. Furniture by this company appears difficult to acquire. Quite solid. With only minute marks to the wood. All spindles and brass leg caps are in tact. One leg spindle, and a few of the seat backs and arms are a tiny bit loose-nothing a couple of drops of wood glue can't fix. Original upholstery. Two chairs have larger yellowing spots on the seats. Sadly. These had been horribly reupholstered by the previous owner and the foam that was used on top of the original upholstery disintegrated and left some yellowing around the edges of all 5 seats. There is a 6th chair(a side chair. Not pictured) ... morethat is missing the upholstery, a leg spindle, and has a broken seat back that was badly repaired. Vintage c.1910 P&H Hardware Store Furniture Undertaking Embalmer Sign~Very Neat!
For your consideration a vintage c.1910 P& H sign. Fresh from a local estate. The sign is made of thin cardboard. It has been shrink wrapped in plastic with a cardboard back. It can be removed. There is damage to one corner. It measures 18" in height by 12" in width. An excellent addition to any vintage advertising collection or if you just want to own a really neat old sign.
