We have taken this set that came out of a house here on the east coast. They were around the table and had been there for years and we thought that they were a 100% matching set. However when we started to hand strip them. We started to notice little differences but if I didn’t say anything you would never notice. The flare of the back, the cut out splats, the front legs, the cross stretchers are all the same. The molding on the shield itself on some of the chairs have one little extra line in them, which you would never notice if I didn’t tell you to look. It appears like four of the chairs do not have the extra line. The chairs have been completely stripped, meticulously glued, hand sanded, hand stained and multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer have been applied and hand rubbed. For the seats, we picked out a gorgeous and expensive fabric to reupholster the chairs. We finaled the chairs with, I believe, five coats of satin sheen lacquer, so they are definitely good for the life time that you have them and even the next generation more than likely. I have up for auction. An antique DINING ROOM SET. The set consists of a large table that opens out on either end, there are 8 chairs, 6 side chairs and 2 captains chairs for wither end. There is a matching buffet that has the same wood& pattern. I believe this is Mahogany. There is what is called a stretcher like pattern under the table and the buffet. The chairs are upholstered, there are a couple of different fabrics, could not decide what I wanted to do them in. This came from an estate of a very well known Benicia family. FINE SET OF TEN ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY ANTIQUE DINING CHAIRS 19th Century Item# 411RVF15E This is an exceedingly attractive set of English George III dining chairs. Remaining a full pure set with two arm chairs and eight side chairs, all in outstanding condition. With deeply patinated surfaces and many layers of wax over an early finish, the mellow solid carved mahogany of the chairs positively glows. They remain in a very good state of preservation, most retaining their original blocking and with only minor normal repairs throughout. In terms of form. The chairs carefully walk between the overly ornate qualities of the Chippendale period and the more austere form of it's Neoclassical successor. Beneath the soft serpentine of the crest rail, the carefully pierced variform splats frame an interesting central motif resembling a spindle ... moreof spun wool. The stiles pull inward along the length of the back and through the foot, curved along the backside for the upper two thirds of the chair and squaring off for the backsweep of the legs. The trapezoidal seat is set with a slip seat, the chair frame raising around this with a plain and unembellished apron. The seat frame is held together with tenon-mortised joints secured by the glued corner blocks, this augmented in many joints with the addition of wooden pegs. The structure is further secured with an H-form stretcher, the medial and back brace tenoned into the sides and legs. The legs are masculine in their Marlborough form, the inner edges chamfered to slip the profile of the chair. For anyone with a period or classically designed interior. This is an exceedingly fine set of early dining chairs. This set is from the 30's or 40's I believe. Great condition. Comes with extra leaf to expand and make it larger. Comes with all 6 chairs but not the small pillows in the chairs. Also comes with protective felt top. The only markings on the table are underneath. One in yellow chalk reads 323-1 on the bottom of the tabletop. And, on the other end of tabletop and on one of the legs it's stamped in black 750. However on the bottom of the chairs there is a paper cloth label that says Bernhardt Furniture Company. Lenoir, NC.
