We had planned on recovering them before we decided not to keep them. The chairs have"L" brackets added to the underside of each chair to give the seat portion more support. The wooden dowels that cover the screw holes on the sides of the chairs were glued in. When I took these chairs apart to get them ready for shipping, I cleaned the glue off of everything and added a double sided tape to hold the dowels in place when they are re-assembled. This absolutely terrific antique heavy carved quartersawn oak French Renaissance Revival parquet top dining table and eight chairs was purchased by it's current owner about 10 years ago in an antiques shop in Lyon. France and imported to it's current location in Charleston, SC. This high quality solid oak furniture was manufactured somewhere between the 1900 and the early to mid-twentieth century. In addition to the wonderful condition, the beautiful wood grain is highlighted by the highly detailed carvings and the parquet oak and burl top alongside fabulous heavy carved full size dining chairs with leather seats, secured with a complete set of decorative brass tacks. 18th Century Antique Worn Pine Trestle Base Tavern Dining Table Composed of 18th Century Elements(chairs are not included) Item# 120012FYK13 This is an incredibly charming 18th Century Antique Tavern Table. A fully functional and absolutely gorgeous antique dining table for today's decorative taste. It is purely a decorative work. Not of a quality or originality required for collector tastes, the table overall being composed using 18th Century elements to create a highly functional and beautiful worn table. The top is large and ovoid in shape, being a full 72" in length to comfortably and easily sit six people without difficulty, crafted of large and thick deeply patinated pine planks. The underside of the top has dovetailed rabbet cuts, into which the rails insert to rest on either side of the trestle base. Drilled holes from either ... moreside of the table rails line up perfectly with the holes in the table base, allowing wooden pins to be inserted to lock the table top securely to the base(only three pins are available- the fourth is missing) This makes the table a very convenient and easily moved part of your decor- appearing to be very heavy, it is actually very manageable with the top removed. A huge dovetailed drawer of pine construction slides easily in and out of the table. An original hand forged iron ring hardware handle on the front. The drawer is heavily chamfered along the sides to rabbet into the sides. It slides over runners that are nailed to the interior using rosehead dovetails. The table rests over incredible baluster-and-ring turned columns, these crafted of incredibly thick posts of pine, stretched with a square base of tenon-mortise construction. I actually purchased two tables. One was round(which I already sold) and this one. They both had been stored in I believe an attic, for they were very dusty and dirty due to being stored for many years. This table appears to have quite a few layers of varnish or stain on it and when they stored it I believe they put a vinyl table cloth on it, the kind with the cotton or felt like lining and through the years of heat and the layers of varnish it has on it the lining somewhat stuck to the top of the table. When I went to clean it up the fuzzy stuff would not come off no matter what I did so we thought we would try a spot with some paint stripper and it come off. That is ... morewhy the spot is on the top. My intentions then was to strip it off and restain it but never had the time to do it and hated to see this beautiful table sit around and need the space so I am selling it as it is. As you can see on the spot that we stripped under all the varnish that was on it the grain is beautiful and on the leaf, it is the natural color. This table is on wheels except for the center one is missing. But I should have one somewhere around here that I will put on it if I do. Also there is a piece of wood that is off on one of the legs as shown in the pictures. Other than that it is very nice. Once it is restained or whatever one wants to go about finishing the top it will look awesome. The table measures 42" square x 30" tall without the leaf and 25-1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the table. The leaf is approx. 12" wide. I have provided several pictures to view. Please view them carefully and ask any questions prior to bidding or purchasing. I will be happy to answer them the best I can. This is a beautiful set of six Louis XIV style French Country chairs. Probably from the 1920's. There is lovely carving and scrolling on the backs and legs with a leaf or shells on the knees. They are belived to be made of oak. Nailhead trim on seats with blue/gray velvet upholstry. They are sturdy and very comfortable for men- hard to find in antique chairs! This is a wonderful set of six mahogany shield back dining chairs in the Hepplewhite style and dating from the 1940s. Consisting of five ... moreside chairs and one master or gent’s arm chair. The six have wonderful shapely shield backs with a multi-finger hole center splat, carved arms on the arm chair, and carved tapered legs on all the chairs. Each has a solid H cross-stretcher so they are all tight and sturdy and ready for use. They have a slip-covered seat in a light beige upholstery of reasonably good condition, and are easy to change if you desire, but the fabric is usable with only a few small damage spots. The overall size of the side chairs is 19 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 37 inches to the top of the chair back and 19 inches high to the seat. The arm chair is 21 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 39 inches to the top of the chair back, and 19 inches high to the seat. Base is solid and not hollow! Top is a full 2" thick, single layer wood. 44" wide x 31" high with runners that are 6 1/2" wide x 4 1/2" thick. 9 1/2" wide pedestal at widest part. Top is made of 3" to 7" random widths. One of a kind, unique table that was not mass produced. Beautiful Antique Dining Table and 4 Chairs from England, UK
We bought this very nice dining table and chairs at a antique furniture store in Southport. England(about 7-8 yrs ago) when we lived there. It is a very nice solid wood table. May be Mahogany or Walnut not sure(it has a dark stain with a hint of red in it) The Cabriole legs are ornate with ball and claw feet. Carvings of(acanthus) leaves and flowers. The chairs are padded(removable) and have a tan flowered material on them. Chippendale style. The top of the table comes unscrewed from the base. Our family has outgrown the table for 4 and we are now selling it. It has had one of the chair backs broken, but it has been repaired. It has a few dents in the table top wood(no stain missing though) But overall is in beautiful shape. Sorry we do not know more about it. Antique Dining Table- was already an antique when I bought it in the 80's. Table measures approximately 36" square without opening the leaves. The leaves slide under table top and open out from the sides- each leaf adds approx. 12" to each side. Table is solid wood- I'm pretty sure it is oak. It is in good shape- needs a few small pieces glued on the underside. I'm selling it cheap as-is and I'm not sure how I would ship it. I need to get it out of my brother's garage. Antique 1929 Cherry Wood Dining Set Table Chairs Buffet Hutch vintage 9 Piece !!
I am the 2nd owner of this nice vintage dining room set-I bought it from the estate of a lady that purchased it new in 1929. Original tags still attached-reads-made by Bernhardt Furniture Co. Lenoir, North Carolina-the underside of the table is also stamped: Oval Table-Cherry-29-etc. Made of Cherry wood-medium, chestnut brown stain allows for much of the grain in the wood to show. Set consisted of table with removable center piece-5 regular chairs and one captain's chair with arms-hutch and buffet. I bought these 20 years ago and now am getting different furniture. I had the seats professionally reupholstered long ago to match my decor(olive green/goldish print)I have always kept seat pads on the chairs when in use-so the seats are in great condition. Table measures 58" x 40" x 30 1/2" tall-with an additional center piece ... morethat measures 12" wide. The Hutch is 47" x 15" x 70" tall. The Buffet is 57" x 17 1/2" x 30 1/3" tall. Overall very nice condition-normal wear for being 84 years old. Some things I would mention are that the wood color of the center piece section is darker than the rest of the table, it was like that when I bought it-possible meant for contrast or maybe because it was stored out of the light)also a slice of the corner wood has broken off as can be seen the the picture-back rt corner of section. Also-a bit of wood had chipped off the top corner of the table leg(tiny but I mention it to be exact-not seen from the top) The legs screw off with attachment bolts to remove them for storage. Also, one chair missing a decorative wood curve on front leg-shown in pic. Also- scratch on table top-6" and 1 1/2"shown in last pic-could be buffed/polished-I leave that to the new owner-totally useable as is. If I missed something-please ask. The color of the hutch in the first pic is the true color-rich and beautiful.
