I am selling this beautiful armoire. Which I believe to be of French origin, sometime in the 19th century. This piece is made of solid cherry wood. And has some scratches/dings and discoloration(mostly visible in pictures provided) This armoire breaks down into 7 pieces- the bonnet. Bottom, sides, back, and two doors are all separate and come apart for easier transportation. My understanding is that this piece was meant to be a traveling wardrobe for families when they travelled. I believe the glass is original. And it is the old fashioned bevelled style. It once had reflective backing to make the windows into mirrors, however, this backing is no longer with the piece. The rough dimensions of the piece are: 60" wide. 92" tall, and 21" deep. Selling a gorgeous French mirrored armoire that was purchased some years ago at an Antique shop in San Francisco. The piece is signed on the back: Picard Paris. Faubourg St. Antoine" I'm not an expert on wood. But I can say it is solid hardwood and my guess is it's cherry or perhaps walnut. Doesn't look like oak grain to me. But again, I'm not an expert! The armoire has two doors with beveled mirrors on each. Beautiful carving along the top and bottom. Inside there are three shelves, two small drawers at about middle height, and a single larger drawer near the bottom. There is also a single long drawer at the bottom, outside of the armoire doors. Very Large Antique French Empire / Canadian American Wardrobe / Armoire L@@K!
A very large French Empire wardrobe or armoire circa 1850-1870. Past down by decent in the same French Canadian family and then through marriage to Norwegian American relatives in the 1920's. Made from beautifully grained mahogany veneer over pine secondary wood and always kept indoors. There is absolutely no fading of the rich wood colors. It is approximately 87 inches high. 24 inches deep, and 61 inches wide, and is in excellent overall condition. Only minor veneer chips as expected from age and use. I will give it a dusting and a coat of paste wax and it will be ready to enjoy for another 100 years. It is easily disassembled for transport thanks to the original wood keys which attach the sides to the base and the tapered wedges which lock the top to the sides. Large late 19th Century Antique Italian Armoir circa 1890. Made in Italy& has 4 doors. The central 2 solid wood doors feature full length arched. Beveled mirrors, which are flanked by 2 beautiful matched, inlaid, burled walnut, curved door, with original brass ormulu details. The top cornice/frieze is encrusted with ornate scrolled vine design brass ormulu detailing all the way around the top. Between the doors at the top are ormula shell designs. Continental Harwood Kas/Armoire 18th/19th Century Primitive Country Disassembled
For the woodworking enthusiast. This is a gorgeous kas made of oak. Bought at auction a year ago and did a lot of work cleaning it and sanding but I no longer have the time to devote to this piece. Kas appears to have been disassembled a long time ago for storage. This was a barn find. All pieces are there. I have sanded and cleaned with oxalic acid the entire front including all doors, drawers, top and bottom, sides and backboard still need to be done. Pulls are made of cast iron and are present excepting a half one that was missing. There is also a nice piece of bone carving that fits into teh small door above drawers. Solid and sturdy piece, constructed with rose head nails, square nails, tongue and groove and dovetail construction. There are hand plane marks on the backboards. Wooden pegs are broken and need replacing. This is a primitive, ... morecountry piece and not a fine antique. It will make a beautiful piece once restoration is completed. 1840's - 50's Welsh Pine Antique Armoire
Presenting a beautifully-proportioned and generous armoire in very sturdy condition. For your consideration. My 30 year ownership of this rugged, useful and attractive armoire must regrettably come to an end as I am downsizing and it simply does not transition into the tight living space I now occupy. Our loss will be your gain. She stands 75 1/4" tall, 59 1/2" wide(add a total of 3" for the pediment projection) and 16" deep. The finish is a medium brown, very shaded, matte, some distress. Goes well in either a modern or traditional setting. It comes with a working key. The left door latches with small barrel bolts. Top and bottom inside. The bail on the right hand door is intact; the one on the left is a stub. The intact one can be copied by wax casting, or fabrication, if desired. You just might overlook this flaw or ... moreforget about it, as we did. Fitted with removable shelves but the interior is adaptable for hooks or a hanger bar. We have used it for bedding. Books, office supplies and it seems somehow bigger on the inside than the outside. Clearly, the armoire will fit through modern doorways, so there is no concern as to whether it will make it into your house. For its size it is not terribly heavy, being a giant empty box, but it will take two sturdy fellas to move into place. Understand that this is for local pick-up from lower Westchester. Victorian 1880s Mahogany Noveau Armoire Wardrobe
This late 1800s Victorian Mahogany Armoire has the original pleated sage green fabric behind the glass fretwork-covered side windows. The beautiful hand carvings on this wardrobe make it a very desirable piece. The wardrone breaks down easily into three pieces for convenient moving or storage. The very top. Deep thick crown piece has a chip missing on the very end but this is not obvious unless pointed out. The finish is original. It certainly does not look new or perfect but is quite presentable. The 9 1/2" deep blanket drawer on the bottom has nice original noveau copper handles. Inside the piece are 6 original coathooks and two hanging racks that were added later, but are still old and do not detract from the value as they are easily removed. This is a beautiful antique Irish linen cabinet thoughtfully reconfigured for modern use as office or media armoire. With its doors closed it is stunning- the centerpiece of any room. Inside is generous amounts of space- enough to hold an office's worth of electronics. Files, and supplies. The details: Biparting doors mounted on continuous hinges allow the doors of the middle and upper compartments to fold back and slide into the armoire. There are four holes in the upper part and two holes in the lower part of the armoire to allow electronics wiring to pass through to the back to be plugged into outlets. These openings are each about 1 inch in diameter. The uppermost area has notches for shelving(see photo) and there are two sturdy removable shelves. A very fine antique. Circa 1900- 1940, French Louis XV style display armoire. It can be broken down for shipment: cornice, complete framed paneled back, both sides, two doors, and footed base with drawers. The case is of solid mahogany; the back boards, four shelves, the side interiors, of quartersawn oak. The bottom drawer has an oak interior also. The case surface is stripped mahogany veneers, and ormolu brass applied scroll with seashells mornaments. The doors have a simple wavy brass grill. There is an oak panel that needs to be inserted back into the framing of the back- can be done from above when armoire is reassembled, see photo.
