With ornate spindle turnings on sides and on block bracket feet. The style works well with a French Country setting or Country Cottage decor. This hutch is natural pine wood with hand painted floral designs on the 6 inset panels in front. And on the sides of the hutch. The doors have barrel hinges and ornate escutcheons on front where the right door has a key lock mechanism. Inside the armoire are three functional shelves. Above the top shelf is a small round hole on the back which can function as a way to thread electrical cords through. The bottom drawers are fake; behind the drawers is a shelf that pulls up to reveal a secret storage place! There is nice dovetail construction on the sides. ... moreGood to very good condition. For your consideration is an antique country pine armoire that can function as a TV cabinet. Wardrobe or general storage. As functional as it is beautiful. It is very deep and holds A LOT. Also has a big bottom drawer for more storage. I purchased it in 2001 at an antiques store on Robertson Blvd(since closed or relocated) for more than $3,000. The seller identified it as made in the 1800’s. I believe it was refurbished with some reclaimed doors and new hinges(lock does not work) I included a photo of the top of the piece to show the dovetail joints(top is dusty) This is a beautiful piece that I purchased for much much more than I’m asking. Nice real antique pine is becoming harder to find these days. The finish would look even richer if a coat of Briwax were applied(anyone can do this) In fact, experts suggest regular waxing. These photo's ... moredo not do this justice; I'll try and upload better ones. An additional note: The Blue House on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica closed yesterday, June 28, after 37 years in business. They had a very similar armoire selling for $11,500 less the sale discount(40% I think) A couple minor fixes need to be made. 1) The hinge on one of the doors needs to be reset slightly as the door is very slightly off, meaning not exactly horizontal when closed(difference is so slight, one would probably not notice on sight, only when actually closing the door) I could do this myself in minutes(but I’m lazy) 2) There are a few scratches in the wood that need to be waxed– they are shown up close in the photos. 3) The lock does not work. One panel has a contour of the Northern Star. Developed as the result of a chemical reaction of paint on freshly cut wood. Even though the original painting was lost through the centuries along with the name of the artist who decorated this item the shadow of this Star remains. A little miracle… The pine turned darker with time and was sealed and polished with bee wax for soft luster. Revealing some time marks including some amount of bug holes appropriate for the age of this item. However. We guarantee that now it is problem free because we fumigate all our furniture twice- before we put it into the container and upon delivery to US. The other panels just reveal clear pine wood of rich honey color with darker veins. Most of the people are looking for this type of item to use it as an entertainment center and once it probably served this purpose because a round hole is drilled in the back panel for electrical wires. This is a beautiful and stunning piece. A 1790-1800 French Wedding Armoire. Or Bridal Trousseau Armoire. This is a large piece, exceptional handcrafted carving. The sides and back are pine, the front, top, legs and doors are oak. Beautiful example of early French artistry in wood. Stunning patina in a reddish darkish brown which can only be attained with age. A father would have several pieces made for his daughter so that she could save not only her bridal clothes. But her gorgeous linens as well in these cabinets. These were all handmade in France. A daughter was to accumulate many sets of linens for her future wedding. Those with wealth accumulated dozens of sheets, tablecloths, linens for the furniture so one needed quite a bit of storage. The photos were primarily taken in full sunlight. A mid 20th century wardrobe/ cupboard/ dresser. This solid wood piece stands 6 feet 1" tall. 15 1/2" deep and 45" wide across the main body. The crown extends out 2" more on either side. There are 4 interior shelves and the fixed bottom board to use for storage. This piece was originally a wardrobe and the shelving was added later. Along with what looks like hooks for cups to hang on. There are 4 hooks that go with the piece. This super German solid pine wardrobe is in very good condition. Standing on bun feet. The wardrobe has a full width plinth drawer which is constructed with hand cut dovetail joints and has turned wooden knobs. To the inside at present there is nothing but if required shelves can be made for £15.00 each or a telescopic hanging rail can be fitted for a further £15.00 This is enclosed with a fine panel door complete with original working lock and key. This is all complimented with carved and molded knees and a fine ogee cornice. This is a lovely piece of German furniture which would compliment the bedroom of any home traditional or modern. There has in the past been a tiny amount ... moreof insect attack to the cabinet but this has been sprayed with a 5 star 30 year treatment.
