ESTATE VINTAGE/ANTIQUE CHIFFEROBE WATERFALL WOOD PATTERN This 74-year old piece was part of a bedroom set purchased by my Grandparents on June 29. 1939 as their wedding furniture. See photos for receipt. It was purchased from Mintz& Mintz Furniture in New Orleans who closed their doors in January 1990. This wonderful piece has two wardrobes with hanging bars. One on either side, four deep drawers with dovetail, and a hat box with a mirror in the center. The entire piece is covered in various exotic veneers with fine attention to design and detail. Decorative trims and moldings accent the edges adding to the unique quality of this piece and helping it to stand out amongst its peers as a prize example of this formerly popular style of furnishing. The Chifferobe has been stripped of its finish down to the original wood and the door/drawer ... morehardware is missing. There is some peeling of the wood on the back of the piece. However I was unable to get a photo as the piece is in a storage unit. The peeling is unnoticeable as it is on the backside. wickedcrazymom Store Antique mid 1800's Wardrobe~Chifferobe~Armoire. It is a beautifully constructed and very sturdy piece. This came from an old farmhouse in Alabama. I refinished the piece about 30 years ago. Since it is pine. I decided to try to stay in the same color family that would have been common when the piece was built. I used as an entertainment center and. Years ago, I modified the piece to allow for the back of a pre-flat screen TV to stick out the back of the piece. I know, I should have waited for flat screens to come out. Anyway, I built a shelving unit which can be removed~it simply sits inside the wardrobe. At the top of the inside of the unit, I attached some pine shelving via some angled metal brackets, which can also be easily removed. The boards that would have originally been on the top were missing when I found ... morethe piece. I used some old reclaimed wood to replace them. This is a great piece- look at the detail in some of the pictures. The builder used wooden pegs and square nails to attach the wooden pieces. The trees that were used to build this piece must have been large in diameter, the door panels are 14" wide, and the back of the piece has boards that are 11-14" in width. This piece has great presence in a room, and makes either a nice entertainment center, or could be modified to be used once again as a wardrobe. It is very big and heavy. So local pickup only. It measures 69" high by 39" wide with a depth of 18" Its features are 4 drawers, a Hatbox compartment and a full length area for hanging garments. Both mirrors have no damage but exhibit some image distortion that is typical for glass mirrors of this age. There is a chip just above the hat storage. Love this Antique White Gentleman's Wardrobe.it measures 5' 10" tall 3' 1" wide. It measures 2' feet on the inside. It is in excellent used condition. I was excited to find this piece and fell in love with the scroll work on the top edge and on the door. On the inside it is beautiful walnut with a mirror mounted on the door( no cracks) with brass clasp to hold it into place. The door pull is in a tear drop and that just makes the whole piece work. Classic Vintage Antique "Chifferobe" Wardrobe Armoire Early 20th Century
This is an early 1900's antique"chifferobe" or"chifforobe" or"chiffarobe" I.e. wardrobe with 5 drawers and a small mirrored door on one side, and a full size wardrobe door on the other side. Behind the full size door is a place for hanging garments with an iron hanging rod. A couple of the drawers need some work but everything else functions normally. Beautiful wood grain with wear and tear that would be expected for age of furniture. Has been in continual use for 75 to 95 years! The inside of the chifferobe is somewhat more rustic than the exterior. One drawer bottom is quite interesting(see photo# 6)I don't know if this wooden crating material was a replacement or if it originally came that way. Either way. It's been like that for as long as I can remember, and I'm 57 years old. Truly. This ... moreitem would make a great display piece for an antique clothing boutique or for great storage for at home! Dimensions: approximately. 45" in width. 63" in height, and 22.35 in depth. A little bit of history: My grandparents were married in 1919. This chifferobe very likely dates from the very beginning of their marriage. If not. They certainly acquired it sometime soon thereafter. It was a fixture in their home for decades. And my widowed grandmother continued to use it throughout her adult life up until her death in the early 1990s. So this is truly an original vintage item with quite a bit of age on it. TRIVIA: In"To Kill a Mockingbird" The character Mayella Ewell pays Tom Robinson a nickel to"bust up" an old chifferobe for her. This incident becomes central to film's major courtroom drama.

My great great grandmother got this piece for her wedding gift in the late 20's. My great great grandfather fought in WW1. It is veneer with I think mahogany. The bottom drawer is cedar with a lift top. It's in great condition with a few marks considering it's 90+ years old. Will ship your choice but that is extra. Can meet to exchange to save $. Antique CHIFFEROBE. ARMOIRE, CLOSET.c1907.5 drawers with original glass pulls.very clean except the last drawer needs some additional cleaning. Top drawer has WORKING lock. Smaller'hatbox' compartment has original beveled mirror in the door. Larger door on wardrobe side locks and also has the original beveled mirror. I had to reset the mirror as it had wiggled down and once inside found the label from the glass company in Tennessee dated August 1907(didn't think of it at the time. But I should have taken a photo of the tag) Inside this long side, is the original metal rod for your hanging clothes. It is original, sturdy, and strong. This chifferobe stands 64 inches tall outside. It measures 43 inches across the front and is is 21 inches deep, including the tips of the two lovely victorian rounded feet and tips of the glass pulls. ... morePlease excuse the triangular point of a wall decoration behind this piece) It has ample storage space with the smaller compartment and all the drawers. Would make an excellent addition to any bedroom. Or perhaps use it as a display piece in your shop. English 1890's Antique Georgian Design Armoire. Linen Press or Chifferobe. A classic armoire. Linen press or chifferobe in the Georgian manner was hand crafted in England around 1890. Beautiful mahogany wood has a fine old finish, waxed and polished so that all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are shrinkage separations from age and minor mars at the edges for character. Drawers and the back were restored with hand cut dovetail joints by a skilled carpenter many years ago after this understated antique was brought to America. Expert construction includes delicate inlaid banding and pegged joints on raised panel doors. Original brasses have embossed grape clusters. The door lock does not work. The key is a handle only. Antique Chifferobe Wardrobe Dresser early 1900s
No shipping. Best I can tell this is at least 100 years old so I guess it can be called Antique. The beveled mirror is very nice. Sometime maybe back in the late 70's or 80's the old finish was stripped off. The photos of the mirror frame are close to it's color. Maybe about the same time the drawer pulls were replaced. It has it's share of some dings and age cracks. The floor in the closet is water stained and a bit warped. The lighter photos are more what it looks like. To the top of the mirror stands about 6' 5" If you have any questions please ask before the last 12 hours. If you need more photos I can get them. Vintage Antique Armoire Wardrobe Chifferobe Here's a lovely old piece of furniture dating to the 30's to 40's in the art deco style. Take notice of the wood embellishments on the doors and carvings and bun feet. I believe the wood is walnut and this was taken in bright sunlight so it is darker in color when inside. It's in sturdy condition and some light scratches from age and finish wear as seen in photos. Great to use as the obvious or turn it into a TV cabinet. Item is for pick up only in Easton. Pa. Beautiful original medium/dark finish walnut exterior with a dark orate center design on each door panel. This piece stands on fancy curved feet with original casters(for ease of moving) and opens to reveal six(6) dove-tail joined drawers on the left side with a top cabinet for storage and a hanging closet on the right with a metal extension rack that can be extended outwards to view articles of clothing. This unit does not have door knobs(as ... moreit was made that way) but does have key to secure closet doors. Key unlocks right side door( I have included a beaded fleur- de- lis key tassel to add to the ambiance of the piece) and then there is an internal latch to release the left door. This antique Chifferobe is functioning the way it did when it was brand new with all the character of years of use. Built between 1915 and 1930(having metal drawer hardware rather than wooden knobs) It was in really rough condition so we rescued it. While refinishing the cabinet and drawers. We also cleaned and refurbished all the hardware, key and lock, and casters as well as replaced both broken mirrors. Nothing is missing and everything works as it did when it was new.
