With foliated scrolls end post carvings, above a long frieze drawer, raised on rounded feet, the interior later fitted with boards and drawers. Hey simply fantastic wardrobe. It's constructed of solid oak and handcarved in a Art Nouveau style. The front has a door with 12 individual beveled glass mirrors and a solid raised panel that's also carved. It has a very unique look to it, it actually looks like a piece that would've been made by Herter brothers but would be of later date. We just finished a complete restoration on this piece and it needs absolutely nothing. The interior consists of solid oak shelves that I pictured. They are adjustable for different variations. This handsome piece is constructed of Chestnut and features 3 slatted heart pine shelves on the interior. Note the hand carved floral rosettes and scrollwork above the doors. There is a single drawer along the bottom below the doors and there are two bun feet in the front. Every kind of carving is artistic on this historic piece with columns. Shell and Gothic motifs. The old finish is very well preserved with golden patina and just enough mars at the edges for antique character. Waxed and polished, all that is needed to maintain its warm glow is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The interior is 19" deep and empty. The armoire breaks down into several sections for shipment. There is a massive crest with stylized floral carvings, two carved pillars in Egyptian style, two front corner finials in Neo-Grec style, a pierced gallery of stylized florals. The center section door is mirror fronted, flanked by doored sections having burl walnut panels. There are three lower drawers with burl panels, the brass pulls and escutcheons in Aesthetic style. Includes all locks and two keys. The interiors of the armoire, and the drawer interiors are all solid walnut, the backing boards of the side cabinets in dark stained hardwood. The armoire measures 8'10" 106" tall by 7' 84" wide ... moreby 21" deep at base, the mirror measures 59" by 27" Excellent condition: original unworn finish, the ebonized accents without wear. A very nice antique Victorian Louis XV style carved rosewood and rosewood veneered wardrobe. Armoire, converted to a display, china, cabinet. The secondary woods are quartersawn oak. The wardrobe will break down in sections, drawer, and doors, for easy shipment. Two plain glass doors have frames with birdseye maple veneer backs, and brass strip lock, no key, missing rosewood escutcheon. The interior has oak paneled backboards, three stained hardwood adjustable shelves. There is a long lower drawer as skirt, new interior bottom. The wardrobe measures 8'3" 99" tall by 4'7" 55" wide by 19" deep, the shelves 13-1/4" deep. Very good plus condition: original finish, case boards without cracks, repair to back left leg. 19th Century, French, Gothic Revival Made In Paris Rare Hand Carved Armoire
This armoire is made by hand in the 1800's and is of the Gothic Revival Age As you can see this is a very very rare piece of functional art. All the Other Armoires are a dime a dozen compared to this one. This Armoire is very special. It's actually two pieces a top and bottom when combined they at well over 10ft tall and is very heavy. The armoire has been oiled and that's it. I'm not positive of the wood but it's extremely hard heavy and has bright red green. Orange, yellow and orange tones. I've looked and looked for anything like this and can't find anything like it. The last owner paid over 15,000.00 20 years ago. solid oak armoire circa 1885-1910
This beautiful full oak armoire measuring eight feet two inches tall by 15 inches deep by fifty inches wide has it's original finish and beveled mirrors. It comes completely apart for easy moving. It came out of a home on St. Charles Avenue here in New Orleans. I put filler on the inside of the left door that had termite damage as a result of being stored in a cellar for years before I purchased it. The repair is just topical about four inches by four inches on the top and about six inches by six inches on the bottom shown on pictures six and seven. It has it's original hardware. The inside is divided and has a shelf across the top. I have had the armoire for about twenty years but due to my age(77) must part with it. Kas Dutch Dowry Armoire. Oak, Rosewood& Ebony 1900's Antique. This traditional Netherlands"Kas" or armoire is a dowry cabinet hand made in the early 1900's. Fine grained oak has accents of genuine rosewood and ebony. From colonies in the Dutch West Indies. The original finish is in excellent condition, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The classic design includes raised panels. A large crown, bun feet and a hand carved frieze around the top. A sliding cover reveals the keyhole to the working lock.
