This Steamer Trunk is unbranded. And in excellent condition, approximately from the 1920s. This trunk is complete, including hangers, dirty clothes bag, all drawers, and the shoe holders. There is some wear on the inside and outside, as shown in the pictures. The drawers are coming apart a bit, but it would be an easy fix. The trunk measures 21.5 length x 14 width and 41 inches tall. For your Bidding consideration in this Auction is this incredible Birds Eye Maple Armoire. It is designed. And made, in a Rococo style and can easily blend with almost any period piece or setting due to its timeless beauty and quality of construction. It and has a variety of markings and Label validating its maker and age which are captured and shown in the photos. There is a heavy paper label on the base of the Armoire which identifies it as"WIDDICOMB FURNITURE CO. GRAND RAPIDS MI. George Widdicomb founded the company in 1858. It went through a few name changes due to family member involvement and in December of 1873, the name was changed to Widdicomb Furniture Company. In the late 1800's Widdicomb products included bed frames. Chiffoniers, Mirrors, Nightstands and other bedroom furniture of various kinds made of Oak, Ash, Birch ... moreand Maple. And fortunately, they also manufactured Armoires/ Wardrobes such as this magnificent piece. Widdicomb at this time were designing Furniture in French/ French Rococo, American Revival and Colonial Revival styles. Many of their pieces are found in Museums and Collections around the world today. This Armoire stands 76" Tall at the center point. 34 1/2" wide at the widest point and 21 3/4" deep. I estimate its weight at 75- 100 pounds but just a guess. Let me just say, the Birds Eye on this piece is stunning. It is exemplary of the age when you could get such quality wood from virgin trees. The concentration of Eyes is not found newer furniture. The entire piece of furniture appears to be made with Birds Eye Maple wood and veneer. The only exception I can note is the side boards of the drawer are Birch I believe. The front and back of the drawer are Birds Eye. The door and the back plate for the mirror on the inside of the door are Birds Eye as is the back and top of the cabinet and the entire interior. This is an amazing piece indeed. OWN an actual item Liberace himself wore and owned this clothing item. Its a beautiful sequin stage worn jacket. These were purchase at a Las Vegas garage sale. Along with some other Liberace items. The owner had items belonging to Gladys Luckie. Who was Liberace's cook and housekeeper for over 25 years. She died in 2011 at almost 100 years old. We purchased it from Belgium and it is in its original paintwork which is a lovely feature. The wardrobe would look well in an old or modern property in a large bedroom amongst similar antique pine furniture. The wardrobe's main attribute is that it does knockdown into many pieces enabling it to go up awkward staircases and it is also a good depth to hang clothes in. The wardrobe stands on square back legs and small turned round bun feet supporting the main section where there are two doors either side of three slightly breakfront doors. Each door has a smaller bottom ... morepanel and larger top panel that is beautifully moulded and has lovely circular motifs to the corners. The top has a standard graduated cornice that is breakfront. Behind the doors there is a hanging rail behind the centre doors and shelves behind the left and right doors. The height is 198cm. TALL 1890S SOLID & BURLED WALNUT BOOKCASE CABINET WARDROBE CARVED GLASS DOORS
Here is a fine very late 19th century mostly solid walnut and very tall at 8 and 1/2 feet bookcase. I love the simple architectural features of the carved arches over each glass door which combines the look of solid walnut and It would be fantastic in a library setting or even as a display cabinet as working locksets are being replaced as I write this so both doors will easily lock. It is perfect for the room a the top of a narrow stairwell as it dismantles and sets up very easily. The base with the two drawers is the first level to set up. This base section retains the original porcelain castors. Each of the side panels is screwed to a rear panel. It is easiest to handle these steps like this. Add one side and then the other. Then the center piece for the shelves slips in. Add the shelves and the front center piece to Which each of the doors ... morewill lock. Add the crown and then it is time to hang the doors. The left door top hinge has been moved to a lower point on the door at some point. This is shown close up in the photos. The"silver" pieces which show up on the doors and on the center section have been removed and appropriate lock sets are being installed with working keys. The top of the cabinet with the glass doors will be fully lockable. The rear boards are solid pine and many are straight sawn.all of the secondary is pine. 1930's Antique Wardrobe Steamer Trunk - Local Pickup
Charming old wardrobe trunk available to add to your collection of antiques! Since it is super heavy. Local Pickup only. What's so cool about this wardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing board, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds ... moreshoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it safe for travel. It is certainly late 19th century to early 20th century solid oak(primary and secondary) with lovely carvings and dentition across the top, a large clear beveled dressing mirror, dovetailed drawers, original old hardware and an incredible amount of storage space within a solid wood cabinet that's made to travel in separate smaller components(base, closet, bonnet) so it could be easily maneuvered through the traditionally smaller hallways and stairwells of those now antique homes. The wardrobe is formed with a central door with full-length bevel edged dressing mirror in it. Either side of the mirrored door there is a section of carving and incised decoration. The carving is various swirls and there is incised lines down to the base. Opening the wardrobe it is fitted with cloths hooks and rails. The sides of the wardrobe are panelled. The base of the wardrobe is footed with one full-length storage drawer and the it is raised on bracket feet. The wardrobe has its original fittings. Hi. Up for sale i have an antique Wheary Burge Wardrobe Steamer type trunk from the early 1900's. Made in Racine Wisconsin by Wheary trunk company, sold in Kansas city by Luce luggage. This trunk is in very good condition for as old as it is, comes with original iron board, 10 wooden hangers, removable smaller case, black with brass accents, the felt on the flip top has some splits, the locks on the trunk are working, the keys for the outside of the trunk and for the bar that secures the drawers in place have been re-made by a locksmith. Trunk measures about 42" tall, 22" wide and 26" deep.
