A large rectangular mirror on the single cabinet door, and exquisite paneled accent carvings on either side of the mirror. The bevelled edge mirror is very clean almost suggesting that is has been replaced but I found no evidence to support that it is not the original. The cabinet door has an ornate solid drop pull and the drawer has two large decorative bail pulls. The skirt is arched on the side of the piece and there are scalloped brackets on the front. The interior is paneled and has two mounted hooks and 6 sliding hooks on the hanging bar. A very nice piece in remarkable condition for the age(circa 1890) this armoire is certain to become a cherished heirloom. Condition: It has some age appropriate signs of wear including scratches. Antique European English Oak Armoire Late 1700's- Early 1800's All Pegged
This is a beautiful antique wardrobe of English origin. We believe this piece dates to the late 1700's/early 1800s. Constructed from oak. This is a solid piece of funiture with peg construction. The overall dimensions of this piece are: height = 75 5/8" width at base =57 5/8" depth = 20" The top of this has a crest with dental molding. The cabinet at the crest measures 21 5/8" x 60.5" The armoire has two doors on the top case that have locks on them. The left door has a key and locks but we do not have the key for the right side. Both doors have brass knobs and hinges on them. I believe these are original pieces that have been polished. This top section measures as follows: width = 54" depth = 17 13/16" The inside dimensions for each side are: 25.5" wide x 46.5" height x 16" depth. There ... moreis a wall between the two sections. Both sections have rods for hanging clothes. Beneath this section is a bank of four drawers. The drawers are pegged as well. There are cracks on the top two drawers that have been repaired. It also appears on the inside of the drawers that the handles were replaced. This piece is made from two sections and can be broken down to move it. There are appropriate signs of age including scratches. Dings, divets, cracks, and losses to the wood. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. There is a large mirror on the left hand side door. This door opens to the hanging wardrobe. There is an upper door on the left hand side which opens to 2 shelves. Antique English Oak Bedroom Set Armoire Wardrobe Dresser Barley Twist Headboard
You are bidding on a BEAUTIFUL Antique English OakBedroom Set/ Suite/ Ensemble. I am not an antique expert or dealer.But I was told when I purchased these pieces that they are all Victorian Style English Oak(medium) manufactured in England in the late 1800's. All pieces were purchased separately. But they"match" amazingly well. There are three items in this set: Dresser- Measures 36"W x 19"D x 38.5"H. With 4 drawers of increasing size from top to bottom. Head Board and Foot Board w/ rails modified to fit a Queen Size bed- Both pieces are 54" Wide and 1.75" Deep on corner posts. Thinner across the back. The headboard is 53.25" High and the footboard is 27.25" High. Both have a diamond design in the center panel, and 1.5" slats out to the sides, with Barley Twist on the ends of the headboard ... moreonly. There is a small screw(hardly noticeable) at the very bottom of the left footboard foot, where it had once had a small crack, bus now fixed and solid. As they did not have Queen beds back 1800's, the rails have been modified to fit a Queen bed, so the mattress hangs about 2-3" off either side of the bed- this is very common for people who have an antique head and foot board, and is not noticeable once the bed is made up. Armoire/ Wardrobe- Measures 47"W(plus 2.5" on each side for the crown) x 18.5"D x 80"H. This is a beautiful piece. And VERY functional. Has a hanger bar across the interior along with 5 hooks for miscellaneous items. Also has a large drawer underneath for storage. The design is shown in the close-up(photo 2) and there is a beveled glass mirror on the door. The wardrobe actually comes in three pieces that sit on each other- base, main cabin, crown- so it is easier to move than it looks! Pyjamas, woolens, and underwear on the other side. On the inside of the door is a horizontal spring marked ties and scarves. It is 30” wide x 63.5” high x 17.5” deep. This is an excellent size for older homes which often have small bedrooms and small closets. It could also serve as an excellent hall or foyer closet. This open cabinet space behind that door in still lined in a bright blue fabric in pretty good condition and measures 46 inches wide by 18 inches front to back by 50 inches tall. Below the closet in the base of the piece are three large. Wonderful dresser drawers. The top two drawers have beautifully dovetailed construction and each measure 20 1/4 inches wide by 17 1/2 inches front to back by 6 1/2 inches deep.The larger bottom drawer below these two, also dovetailed, measures 42 1/2 inches wide by 17 1/2 inches front to back by 7 1/2 inches deep. This piece is in Dallas TX and you must come get it. This piece has gorgeous and modern detailing on the sides. Nice acorn legs, brass detailing on the locks and the bevelled mirror, original to the piece, is in great shape. This breaks down all the way into very easy to move pieces. It used to be one of my trick questions I would ask people"what do you think was the very hardest thing to move? And they would guess this piece and be wrong. This large antique English Country oak armoire. Manufactured during the early 1900's and recently imported from the UK, offers lovely organized storage for even the largest wardrobe. This large early 20th century wardrobe offers two hanging closets, each with a hanging bar and one has a 10 inch deep campaign drawer in the bottom for storing shoes or boots and a full size beveled dressing mirror on the central closet door; three large blind pull out tray shelves, behind that door along with a dresser with three large drawers. The inside of all the closets and shelving is lined in a yellow fabric which is overall clean and in good condition for it's age, adding a finished touch. The design of the piece includes an interesting construction technique that highlights the quartersawn oak wood and decorative metal hardware. This is a high ... morequality piece with dovetailed drawers and brass drawer pulls and I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the construction, design, condition and beauty of the piece, though pictures just don't do it justice. This large wardrobe stands 86 inches long by 80 inches tall and 26 1/2 inches deep. Front to back. The two side closets are each 25 inches wide by 20 inches front to back by 73 inches tall. In the left side facing closet there is 68 inches clearance below the hanging bar. In the right side facing closet there is a 10 inch deep campaign drawer, leaving 58 inches clearance to the floor below the hanging bar. This large piece could of course be easily fitted with one of the many more modern storage systems available to maximize it's internal space. The 3 large drawers in the lower bottom section of the center closet are each 24 inches wide by 18 inches front to back and gradually increase in depth. Measuring 7 inches, 8 1/2 inches and 9 1/2 inches in depth, respectively. We then shipped it to our antique furniture store here in Atlanta. GA. Antique corner wardrobes are hard to find and this one was worth the wait! Most likely made around 1940. The wood used is mahogany. The mahogany wood has developed a lovely, warm patina. The simple lines and subtle decorations ... moreof this antique corner wardrobe will allow it to fit into almost any room where you could use extra storage. It would make a lovely coat closet near the front door or a wonderful clothes closet in a bedroom. The door of this wardrobe is a beveled mirror door. The mirror is clean and does not have any spotting. Inside is a large open space with some brass hooks for hanging. Below the door is a single. Large drawer. The drawer is constructed with dovetailed joints which shows you that the maker was a quality furniture maker. The hardware is all solid brass on the drawer and door. They also both lock and one key is included. Overall this antique corner wardrobe is in very good condition. There are a few dings here and there(especially on the cornice) as you would expect from a piece of this age. We have also pointed out in the photos where the board on the back of the door has expanded causing it to bow out. IL- Far west Chicago suburbs) Up for auction: A gorgeous. Old, oak armoire, closet or wardrobe. It has a beveled-mirrored door and one drawer, offering tons of elegantly hidden storage. I believe it's English, based on its instructional tag: This Wardrobe when dismantled will pass the narrowest stairway or passage. Instructions: Unscrew cornice and plinth from inside of carcase. Hold the door. I can't be certain, but believe it likely dates to the early 1900s. I had too many photos to include one of the patent number(small tag nailed inside the drawer) which reads: PROVL.PAT.NO. 86004-20. The inside compartment has three hooks across the center back top. And one hook on each side. The drawer ... moreis dovetailed. The mirror has a simple bevel. My photos aren't the best- sorry- bad lighting. I think. It's a medium-dark oak. Beautiful! Condition: Overall. For it's age, I think it's in nice vintage condition with age-appropriate imperfections. I think it displays beautifully(and is superbly useful) By way of flaws: 1) the left side. Center, shows a split(where two oak panels meet) it bows out slightly. I don't think it's really distractive, but could probably be remedied by the handy; 2) there's a 2" x 1/2" chip on one side, near the back, relatively near the bottom- hard to see; 3) can't really see it, but the bottom skirt is angled a bit, with a small split on one side; 4) the mirror I think is totally functional and charming as is, but has spots of loss of silvering and minor imperfections; 5) in the drawer, you'll see there are wood support blocks(these came with this- I assume for the underside- that look supplementary supports) that probably could be glued into position for additional support(I haven't investigated; the closet seems fine as is) 6) the door handle has pulled a bit with a small break in the metal- still
