I believe it is a jewelry chest/ armoire or a gentlemans valet.not really sure.Some of it appears to be tiger oak. It is QUITE UNUSUAL with ornate metal work on ALL 4 CORNERS on the TOP of the chest.as well as ALL 4 CORNERS on the FRONT of the chest. Both front doors also have a metal SHIELD decoration and one side has a key lock which I do not have the key for. Nor do I know if it works.but looks very classy with all the Victorian Fancy Hardware. When opened. It reveals 3 drawers ~ 1 larger bottom one and 2 smaller side ones. It also has an open space to the right of the smaller drawers. The HANDLES on the 3 drawers are ORNATE with UNUSUAL DROP BAIL PULLS! ONE pull is MISSING. There is one pull which is unattached and as there is some metal damage to the 2 other handles. It will need some fixing.but still acceptable for its age in my opinion. Back is made of 2 pieces of wood and is not split. Just age seperation. The bottom is covered in old felt. CONDITION: ONE SIDE of the cabinet/chest has a center split in the wood. This snowshoe travel furniture set was purchased from an estate sale in the late 70's. Not sure the age of the set. Estimate they are mid century. They have been stored in conditioned airspace and don't seem to have ever been used. They are all in near perfect condition. All 3 pieces fold down almost flat. Early American Country Furniture Antique Colonial Armoire Wardrobe Federal @1785
This Spectacular Early American Solid Plank Pine Armoire/Wardrobe is Circa 1785-1800 Of course this piece was all hand made. No doubt by an early American craftsman. It features thick solid pine plank construction.The armoire has tons of character marks and great patina, I restored the finish with a hand rubbed varnish to protect the wood and bring out the gorgeous graining and character marks. The early hand wrought iron nails are exposed.At the door frame front corner faces you can see the two hand made pegs at each corner. They secure the hand made mortise and tenon joinery of the door frames. The entire top has one solid plank of pine which is dovetailed with one large dovetail joint into the sides of the armoire.The blackened graining of the pine is natural and makes for beautiful highlights to the pine. The cornice detail which trims ... morethe cabinet top is superb. Another rare and excellent feature is the original hand made clothes hooks which swivel left& right. They are hand-pegged into their support piece. The whitewashed cabinet inside appears to be original. There are also a few tiny remnants of a linen/muslim cloth held by wrought nails inside the cabinet.It appears the cabinet was one lined with linen cloth. The iron lock is original, I had a period style key made,the key is solid brass which I painted to match the hardware.The lock and key work excellently. The hardware is reproduction period style iron hardware.This piece has many nicks. Dings and character marks in the wood, There is an exposed nail on the lower left front corner where a chip of wood has been missing for a long time, I like the fact you can see this nail, it adds tremendous character& history to this piece, I made no attempt to restore this area, I think it is unique! In the 3rd picture you can see on the right side a crack that goes down to the spindle. I took closeup with the last 4 photos-No. 8-12. It looks like the spindle has been reglued on the chair seat and to the bowed back frame. I still am not sure that the crack goes completely through to the spindle. You decide. Interesting lot of old doorknob rosettes escutcheons for your consideration. I am not sure of what there original use was for because of there smaller size. I am guessing they were an early doorknob application from entry doors in homes. They might have been an early furniture backplate as well. Could be used either way I suppose depending on your need. No manufacturing marks. There is a very small amount of original copper Jappanning still evident on a couple of these which I think were there original finish. There are ten in this lot measuring an unusual smaller size at 1 1/2 inches across. Center holes are 3/8 of an inch. large enough for a standard 1/4 inch mortise driverod. Highlights include.sawtooth trim far left and right, quarter fan carvings, segmented vertical trim, cornice molding above, and repeating geometric design across top with cannonball finials. Hanging wire attached in back with felt pads to protect wall. Can also freely stand upright, on its own. Antique Architectural Salvage Furniture Parts Eastlake Pediment/Pine Backsplash
Welcome. Offered today is a lot of 2 antique architectural salvage furniture parts. The first is a pediment from the Victorian period with an Eastlake design. It is made of walnut but I am not 100% sure. It measures 33 1/2" long. It features a scalloped design with a large center detail. The scalloped area is 1 1/2" and the large center is 3 1/8" The piece is 7/8" wide and can sit on a door or window molding. This is in good condition with a lovely patina. The dowels that originally held it in place have broken off but could easily be drilled out if you needed to. The next piece is made of hand planed pine and came off a primitive wash stand or wash table. It was the backsplash. This too has a lovely patina. This measures 32" long and is 5 1/2" wide. It features a curved cut out design on each end. There are ... moretwo holes where it was attached. It is a thin piece. 1/2" but solid. The original color was a pumpkin and one side is more finished than the other which is more rustic. There is a long narrow but shallow slice off of one side. New overstock. Never used condition. Knobs measures 1 1/4" across bottom. 1" across top. 1 1/4" tall. There is a matching drop pull as shown in the last picture the matching drop pulls measures 3 1/2" long. Rosette measures 1 3/4" across. Drop pull measures 2 3/4" by 2" wide. See last picture.
