An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. Set of 4 exclusive French vintage resin composition rosettes with antique gold finish. Measures about 1 1/8" in diameter. They are quality made and were quite expensive. I am not sure if they are still being made and we were buying them when the French Franc was not as strong as the Euro. So if you could buy them today you probably would pay at least double. We have about 100 + and will list on eBay as many as you need, while supplies last. They are all new and have never been used. They can be drilled for a nail or attached with glue. If you don’t like gold finish they can be painted over. We were using them in our furniture restoration workshop ... moreto replace missing/ broken rosettes on period furniture and when mounted they look original and authentic. Along with furniture restoration there are hundreds of different uses- you can upgrade and beautify almost everything applying them to the interior doors, wall paneling, mirrors, clocks, picture frames, light fixtures, door knobs, window cornices etc, wherever you need it to recreate the original design or express your own fantasy. They look different, depending on the surface they are mounted onto, and easily blend with cast bronze ormolu mounts or carved wood appliqué. You will not be able to find rosettes in such quality and in such quantity anywhere, which is important for a large project and if you want to finish panels in a large room with identical accents or make unique period looking doors all around the house this could be the only choice. Because they are handmade they are all unique and slightly differ from each other but difference is not really noticeable and can be ignored. You will not receive the rosettes shown on the pictures, because we did not select them especially but they were randomly taken from the box and probably you would never find out that

Two very decorative vintage/used French metal furniture mouldings. These have good detail with hanging leaves. Berries and pretty swagged ribbons at the base-v ery French. The length is 26 cms and the width is 5.1 cms. They have two small holes at the top. One at the base and one in the middle for attaching. Although they sit flat. They are in fact raised/slightly domed- I've tried to show this in the photo's. In good and robust condition with scuffs and signs of past use. They weigh approx 400 grammes unpacked. A matching pair of antique decorative embellishment for furniture. Walls, or wardrobes with daisies and leaves. I would think it would work well on the corner of furniture piece. Each piece measures 21 cm( 8.25 inches) long and 4 cm( 1.25 inches) wide. There are two holes to affix the pieces onto the wood. I have not polished the pieces but have left it as I bought it.
