An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. But is still a nice unit with original finish. For your consideration is an antique country pine armoire that can function as a TV cabinet. Wardrobe or general storage. As functional as it is beautiful. It is very deep and holds A LOT. Also has a big bottom drawer for more storage. I purchased it in 2001 at an antiques store on Robertson Blvd(since closed or relocated) for more than $3,000. The seller identified it as made in the 1800’s. I believe it was refurbished with some reclaimed doors and new hinges(lock does not work) I included a photo of the top of the piece to show the dovetail joints(top is dusty) This is a beautiful piece that I purchased for much much more than I’m asking. Nice real antique pine is becoming harder to find these days. The finish would look even richer if a coat of Briwax were applied(anyone can do this) In fact, experts suggest regular waxing. These photo's ... moredo not do this justice; I'll try and upload better ones. An additional note: The Blue House on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica closed yesterday, June 28, after 37 years in business. They had a very similar armoire selling for $11,500 less the sale discount(40% I think) A couple minor fixes need to be made. 1) The hinge on one of the doors needs to be reset slightly as the door is very slightly off, meaning not exactly horizontal when closed(difference is so slight, one would probably not notice on sight, only when actually closing the door) I could do this myself in minutes(but I’m lazy) 2) There are a few scratches in the wood that need to be waxed– they are shown up close in the photos. 3) The lock does not work. This is a very nice 3 door wardrobe circa 1900. Made in France or Possibly Italy as a lot of there furniture were very similar. The condition is very good. Its pollard oak and walnut with satinwood marquetry inlay to each door to the side, as well as rosewood inlay. At some time to the back has had wood worm. It looks treated, but we have also treated it as well. lt comes in several part so its easy to transport. To the base it has brass feet and also to the top brass cups. The center has a drawer to the base. The the rest is all hanging space as well as the sides. The mirror is the original one which shows some specks with age. Measurements are 76 wide.83 high, 24 deep. We have the 3 keys for each door.

Lovely to look at and very functional! A similar one can be seen on Downton Abbey! PBS Closets. Storage space, in a beautiful package that is this Armoir. It comes apart for easy moving. She travels well. And goes back together very easily. She has two hanging sections on either side. A laundry box in the bottom of the right side, I have always used it for shoes! The middle section behind the mirror has a chest of drawers with 3 drawers with a"linen press" above(pull out shelves) I have all the shelves. But I have more recently used it as a TV place in my bedroom. She is in great Antique condition. The only missing parts are the door knobs! that have always been missing since I bought her, I never found knobs I liked and got used to her without the knobs. I also had the mirror door hinges changed, the wieght of the mirror had put ... moretoo much strain on the original, so they were replaced with a piano hinge, to spread out the stress! This oversized piece is extremely high quality, and remains in great condition. This piece features a full-length bevel glass mirror in the center door. Three hand-cut dovetail drawers on the bottom of the piece, and triple door access. This piece also has a beautiful cross-grain mahogany veneer with burl panel highlights. The bronze finished brass ormolu embellishment is completely intact. And the crest is crown molded with a brass cut out center. Art Deco Bookcase Credenza Armoire
This cabinet was intended to be an office bookcase/credenza. But I've always used it as a clothing armoire. Beautiful burled wood(picture 3) detailed carving(picture 2) and detail on front of shelves(picture 7) Six shelves on both sides, with glassed-in, adjustable display shelves in the center. Center door is beautiful beveled glass. Piece measures 64"H by 67"W by 17.5"D. I don't know the provenance of the piece. I purchased it in an antique shop in Los Angeles about 20 years ago. I believe it was handmade. The supporting pegs for the shelves fit uniquely in their assigned positions(see picture 6) Each piece was labeled manually in ink for accurate assembly. Somewhere along the line. The base shelves in the center and right side got lost- see picture 8 for the base shelf on the left side and pictures 9& 10 for ... morethe missing center and right side base shelves. I have made do without, but new pieces could easily be cut to fit. The lowest shelf in the center is cracked about halfway down(see pictures 9 and 11) but is functional. These blemishes are not apparent from the outside. There is a small nick about 1/2 inch long on the left door- see picture 12. In absolutely beautiful condition for 80-ish year old piece! It is very old, not sure of exact age, but American and I believe circa 1900. I currently use it as a wrapping center, something not accessed every day. This piece can be used as is, but should be treated gently. I'm sure this piece could be strengthened and restored to make it sturdier. A pre-owned armoire wardrobe with original casters- in the waterfall design from the art deco period. A metallic gold seal inside the top drawer reads Hooker Bassett Seal of Quality. Stenciled on the back is XO 30 ROBE. It is 36" wide x 60" tall x 20" deep. With inside closet measurements of 20" deep x 16-1/2" wide x 56" high. The drawers are dovetailed and four drawers are 15-1/4" x 14-3/4" x 8" deep. The fifth(top) drawer measures the same accept it is 6" deep. The mirrored top adds 6" to that side height measurement. Overall, the original casters add 2" to the height. They also make it easy to move. The knobs and pulls are of a white metal with marbleized pink thermoplastic decoration-celluloid or Catalin. Etc. It is a quality wardrobe in very good solid condition. There are very ... moresmall pieces of veneer missing mostly on the bottom. A solid mahogany armoire or wardrobe from about 1910 has an original beveled mirror with a little antique"smoke. The rich lustrous finish is in excellent condition on this furniture. Hand crafted in England. Inside are sliding clothes hooks, plus later adjustable shelves that are removable. Hardware is original.
