It has an elaborately carved floral and scroll crown and sides. Below the doors is a carved drawer as shown in the photos. It stands on carved cabriole legs and scrolled feet. Three adjustable shelves come with the armoire. As with all antique armoires. Wood supports can be placed in any of the carved slots running the entire length of the piece inside. An option for repurposing this armoire is to strip the silver from the mirrors, leaving the original glass thus making the armoire a display cabinet. This is a beautiful antique wardrobe of English origin. We believe this piece dates to the late 1700's/early 1800s. Constructed from oak. This is a solid piece of funiture with peg construction. The overall dimensions of this piece are: height = 75 5/8" width at base =57 5/8" depth = 20" The top of this has a crest with dental molding. The cabinet at the crest measures 21 5/8" x 60.5" The armoire has two doors on the top case that have locks on them. The left door has a key and locks but we do not have the key for the right side. Both doors have brass knobs and hinges on them. I believe these are original pieces that have been polished. This is a beautiful antique wardrobe from around the turn of the last century(ca. 1890-1910) in excellent condition. It has the original finish and hardware except for the keyhole escutcheons(keys included) Hanging rods are included on both sides and a full drawer on the bottom of the piece. The beautiful claw feet are also in excellent condition. No cracks, breaks or missing pieces. The original double door mirrors are in good shape. The knock-down wardrobe disassembles for easy transportation. This piece is 86 inches tall and 50 inches wide 19-1/2 deep, with a 3" overhang on each side at the top moulding. Beautiful Austrian Antique Armoire ca.1890 purchased in Vienna, Austria
I purchased this Austrian armoire while living in Vienna many years ago from an antique dealer. I was told it is ca. 1890 and I believe it could be made out of walnut or mahogany. I’m not sure. I sold one recently and I now have this one available. The lock in the door is operational and the key is showing in one of the pictures. I've also tried to show any of the imperfections including evidence of a missing draw handle at the bottom which can be replaced. The armoire is 48”wide x 86”tall x 21”deep(approx. The armoire is configured with shelves and can be modified to hang clothes relatively simply. I believe the last pic shows some minor damage along one of the edges.
