An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either side are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. It is a TURN OF THE CENTURY Victorian TABLE TOP OAK CHEST with 3 drawers and an open space. I believe it is a jewelry chest/ armoire or a gentlemans valet.not really sure.Some of it appears to be tiger oak. It is QUITE UNUSUAL with ornate metal work on ALL 4 CORNERS on the TOP of the chest.as well as ALL 4 CORNERS on the FRONT of the chest. Both front doors also have a metal SHIELD decoration and one side has a key lock which I do not have the key for. Nor do I know if it works.but looks very classy with all the Victorian Fancy Hardware. When opened. It reveals 3 drawers ~ 1 larger bottom one and 2 smaller side ones. It also has an open space to the right of the smaller drawers. The HANDLES on the 3 drawers are ORNATE with UNUSUAL DROP BAIL PULLS! ONE pull is MISSING. There is one pull which is unattached and as there is some metal damage to the 2 other handles. It will need some fixing.but still acceptable for its age in my opinion. Back is made of 2 pieces of wood and is not split. Just age seperation. The bottom is covered in old felt. CONDITION: ONE SIDE of the cabinet/chest has a center split in the wood. This wardrobe is about 22 inches tall. 13 and 3/4ths inches wide, and 7 inches deep. There is a wood shelf and a wooden clothes rod. The construction is all wood except for the back and the bottom of the drawer. The back of the drawer has dovetail joints. Picture 7 shows the top of the wardrobe, with a hole on the right where the top of the door was reattached; that repair has come apart and needs to be redone. The stickers on the doors are original, I think. Love this Antique White Gentleman's Wardrobe.it measures 5' 10" tall 3' 1" wide. It measures 2' feet on the inside. It is in excellent used condition. I was excited to find this piece and fell in love with the scroll work on the top edge and on the door. On the inside it is beautiful walnut with a mirror mounted on the door( no cracks) with brass clasp to hold it into place. The door pull is in a tear drop and that just makes the whole piece work. Rustic Old Wardrobe Closet estimated to be late 1800's to 1910's. This was not a top of the line closet by any means. But has a great deal of charm and character. The wheels and interior metal pulls for hanging clothes appear to be original. The little holder shown inside the left closet door was added at some point later on. I'm not an antique dealer and know little about this except for what you can see in the pictures. Also, there is a big stain on the bottom of the cabinet. I'd rather not mess with it. The original finish on fruitwood is very well preserved, it has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are warps. Mars and shrinkage separations from age for character. Mirrors have a little antique"smoke" to show their age. Hardware is original, there are no keys, modern magnetic catches secure the doors. Inside are original clothes hooks, sides were later lined with cedar to protect from insects. This historic furniture can be disassembled for easier moving. This early twentieth century wardrobe offers a large double hanging closet with a hanging bar with multiple sliding cloak hooks on the bar as well as cloak hooks around the inside of the closet. This open closet space of course could easily be fitted with any of the the modular storage systems available in most major department stores if that better served the needs of the new owner. The opposing single closet is fitted with three removable shelves which makes four large functional cubbies. The decorative doors on this wardrobe include beautiful veneer ... morepanels on the two outside closet doors and a large arch top beveled mirror on the center closet door. The design of the piece includes decorative metal hardware as shown and it appears to be both original and intact. This wardrobe does have a currently working lock and a key. Though I never guarentee old locks. The real highlight is the gorgeous wood used to create this piece and craftmanship that went into making it into such functional storage space. This is a high quality piece with dovetailed drawers and sturdy construction. I notice the bonnet was not quite seated on top when I shot these photo's but it does fit tightly and helps hold the wardrobe together as per design. This closet is 10 ft. 9 in. long, it's 4 ft deep, and approximately 7 ft. tall. Lots of storage! It has 4 sets of glass(top) bottom is wood doors. There is a copper pull in each section, that you can pull out an hang your clothes on. I was told it perhaps come out of a men's clothes store in Kansas City. The top is one piece and the bottom is one piece. The back of the closet is not oak, it is just painted. The panels on each end are solid wood but have veneer panels, which some are needing replaced or redone. It's an old piece and would look great redone, but just as pretty like it is. All you see is the front of the piece, so I didn't redo it. It's old and I will sell it as is. You would have to come and pick it up. Not shippable.

This armoire comes apart in three pieces(crown. Large center section, and base) for easier shipping and moving. We are giving this piece a good condition rating. It is sturdy and solid and all of the doors and drawers function well. There are some minor cosmetic issues to point out. The left door’s oval panel appears to have been replaced. The top right corner of the crown has some small damage. The left side of the wardrobe has two age separations(the right side has one at the base) and an old scratch.
