Otherwise, these doors are not equipped with any hardware. Up for your consideration: This auction is offering you the opportunity to bid on an Antique Chifferobe Wardrobe Chest Combo from around the 1920's- Art deco depression era. Beautiful original medium/dark finish walnut exterior with a dark orate center design on each door panel. This piece stands on fancy curved feet with original casters(for ease of moving) and opens to reveal six(6) dove-tail joined drawers on the left side with a top cabinet for storage and a hanging closet on the right with a metal extension rack that can be extended outwards to view articles of clothing. This unit does not have door knobs(as ... moreit was made that way) but does have key to secure closet doors. Key unlocks right side door( I have included a beaded fleur- de- lis key tassel to add to the ambiance of the piece) and then there is an internal latch to release the left door. Antique wood armoire closet hutch. Both door panels are hung with quality decorators material, set up inside for hanging clothes and an upper shelf, 2 lower drawers, had been painted in the 1940's and was peeling so it was stripped down and refinished in a light finish in the late 1980's, very nice unit, if you want it shipped you will need to arrange and pay for such, circa pre 1940 I am not sure of it's exact age but it was my grandmother's and she had it when my mother was young over 70 years ago so it is likely older than 70 years old.

It is made of oak and is currently unpainted. The pediment accross the top has a crown molding and applied. Carved festoons. There are four legs with paneled pilasters and carved capitals. There are three doors. The end doors have beveled mirrors. The center having a raised panel. All have egg and dart molding and carved pediments at the tops. There is a drawer below each door. It measures 102.25 inches wide by 98.5 inches tall. It dissasemblems to load into a van or SUV. Overall it is in good co ndition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It was done in a Jacobean style that has been around for hundreds of years. The main characteristics of this style are the linen fold ... morecarving(or scroll carving) found on the door and the geometric carvings found around the very top. The darkened hinges and escutcheon/ handle are also reminiscent of the Jacobean era. This is a very well built antique hall wardrobe. Whoever the maker was used quality techniques and materials to form a truly beautiful and long lasting piece of furniture. The oak has a lovely medium color that will continue to grow more beautiful with age. The door opens and closes easily. There is a lock and a key however it does not“lock” The key can be used to open the latch. But there is no traditional throw that locks the door while the key is removed. The button on the lock can also be used to unlatch the door. Inside there are brass hooks on the back side. A top shelf also has a brass hanging bar below it. This shelf is removable should you decide you don’t need it. This piece has a unique plaque on the inside of the door from the lock maker. It reads“Locks by“Asro” and claims if the lock needs servicing in the next 70 years it can be posted to the address on the plaque. While I wouldn’t recommend doing this. It definitely gives the piece some unique charm. Even after over 50 years of life.
