Oscar Wilde A Very Good Quality c.1860s Gothic Revival Oak Hall Cupboard Period: Mid Victorian Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1855-65 Width: 32 inches Depth: 15.5 inches Height: 88.5 inches(all at extremities) all at maximum) The nineteenth century Gothic oak hall cupboard on a plinth base with a ripple moulded arched mirrored door of eleven glazed panels. The arch having applied carved decoration, and further carved niche sides, the brass ring handle to the door opening to reveal two adjustable hanging rails and a series of coat hooks, survives from the early to middle part of Victorian period England. The cupboard is presented in good overall order. Two of the rectangular plates are possibly later replacements ... morewhilst the other nine are certainly original and have sparkling and foxing to the plates. All nicely greyed. Two of the glazing bars are later replacements. This small issue aside she is in a totally original state and the oak has a very good colour and patination. The handle, hooks and rails, and all of the carved decoration is seemingly original. Although the lancet or arched shape of this cupboard is synonymous with gothic design. One often doesn’t see an entire door panel being mirrored and the superiority of the piece is very evident right through from the build quality to the applied carvings. Hall cupboards of this type are usually also doubles so the rather slim proportions of this example make it rather more versatile and elegant. We can’t find another even similar to this example having been sold which may suggest it was privately commissioned. A man who remains any length of time in a modern Gothic room. And escapes without being wounded by some minutiae, may consider himself extremely fortunate' Augustus W. N. Pugin. This wounds. So to speak, and does it well. A.W.N.P. would have approved. Antique vintage oak wardrobe from Early 20th Century Arts & Crafts era restored
This wardrobe was in some disrepair. My husband restored it using new wood for the long door and the drawer bottoms only. The facia is all original. There is normal aging and stress marks. There was some square nails in the construction which somewhat ages it. The pulls are new as the original wood pulls were not all there. The oak wood was stripped and finished with natural stain and sealer. This may be made by Rome Furniture Factory. Rome Georgia. 60 in tall. 21 in deep, x 43 in wide Asking $595.00 or best offer. Antique Wardrobe BIG 7 Foot Solid Oak Wardrobe Freestanding Wardrobe
My best guess is this wardrobe dates back to late 1800's or early 1900's. I can tell you its been sitting in the same house since it was built in 1910. So its at least that old, but still in nice condition. It does have surface wear scratching as pictured, but its all cosmetic with no major damage, it is missing the lock. This is a BIG piece of furniture that stands 7 foot tall, is 49" wide, and 20" deep. Solid oak antique piece. Stunning Antique Salesman Sample Oak Wardrobe / Armoire Miniature
This is a truly wonderful antique salesman sample wardrobe or armoire. The piece is crafted in oak. Primarily quarter sawn, with iron strap details. It is meticulously made. Every aspect of this object is charming and exacting down to the tiny knobs and escutcheons. Note also the detailed side panels and the charmingly executed faux bottom drawers. It retains its original mirror which shows loss to the leading that only add to the authenticity and beauty of the piece.The interior is also beautifully done and fully finished and reveals supports for an interior shelf and rod(sadly not in evidence, if in fact they ever existed) This is the finest salesman sample I have ever had the pleasure to discover. It is a rare and wonderful antique that I have no doubt has been loved and displayed and moved and bequeathed and inherited. Words do not do ... morethis justice. Now to the nitty-gritty. So that there is no disappointment: As evidenced in the photos, this has a wire attached to the back as it was displayed on a wall. In the course of that display, perhaps someone painted the ceiling as there are small paint dots on the top which I'm sure could be removed with fine steel wool. This probably was re-shellacked 75 years ago or so as there is evidence of drip marks down one side. The teeny tiny brad that attaches the front right foot is gone. The doors can be temperamental in staying closed but work wonderfully when the piece is level. And generally, please refer to the pictures as they describe this better than words. It measures approximately 14 1/2" high by 9 1/4" wide by 4 1/4" deep. It is simply lovely and beautifully executed. Please ask any questions you might have. Additional photos available on request. A very large wardrobe trunk made over 100 years ago by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely well made and in virtually perfect condition. It is fitted with a fully equipped interior and oak slats and ball castors on the exterior. This fine heavy trunk is complete and fully functional. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. It comes with the original key. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. It was in the Master Bedroom as the face to a his and her's closet front. It is made of oak and is currently unpainted. The pediment accross the top has a crown molding and applied. Carved festoons. There are four legs with paneled pilasters and carved capitals. There are three doors. The end doors have beveled mirrors. The center having a raised panel. All have egg and dart molding and carved pediments at the tops. There is a drawer below each door. It measures 102.25 inches wide by 98.5 inches tall. It dissasemblems to load into a van or SUV. Overall it is in good co ndition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. The left side mounting board has some loss. Some of the hardware needs to be replaced. The ... moredrawers are currently dissasembled. We recently imported it to our antique furniture store in Atlanta, GA along with a variety of other wonderful pieces. The wood used on this beautiful armoire is oak. Although it was made in 1960. It was done in a Jacobean style that has been around for hundreds of years. The main characteristics of this style are the linen fold ... morecarving(or scroll carving) found on the door and the geometric carvings found around the very top. The darkened hinges and escutcheon/ handle are also reminiscent of the Jacobean era. This is a very well built antique hall wardrobe. Whoever the maker was used quality techniques and materials to form a truly beautiful and long lasting piece of furniture. The oak has a lovely medium color that will continue to grow more beautiful with age. The door opens and closes easily. There is a lock and a key however it does not“lock” The key can be used to open the latch. But there is no traditional throw that locks the door while the key is removed. The button on the lock can also be used to unlatch the door. Inside there are brass hooks on the back side. A top shelf also has a brass hanging bar below it. This shelf is removable should you decide you don’t need it. This piece has a unique plaque on the inside of the door from the lock maker. It reads“Locks by“Asro” and claims if the lock needs servicing in the next 70 years it can be posted to the address on the plaque. While I wouldn’t recommend doing this. It definitely gives the piece some unique charm. Even after over 50 years of life.

Needing some home repairs so I'm selling my antique oak wardrobe armoire. Unknown what manufacturer or origin. The tag is hard to read. Never restored in it's original condition. It's in great condition for it's age but has some minor knicks and scrapes and some tape residue from a previous move. Manufacturer dated 8/27/29. All of the hangers are intact. The door hinges operate normally. The original mirror is intact. The lock works and has 1 key. The drawer slides freely. Very well built and beautiful piece. Measures 16"D x 34"W x 74.5"H. For your bidding consideration is this unique Oak cabinet which can be used in many different ways. It was designed as a cloak cabinet for an abbey in which the priest stored their vestments and candle lighting tools. The cabinet exterior has been stripped and has only an oil finish; the interior has its original dark finish(see photos) By looking at the photos you can see the brass rod with brass hangers. On the door are the holders for the candle tool rack; there are brackets for a mirror. Not present. As can be seen, the door is quite decorative, with one repaired small panel, which you may not readily see. There are no cracks noted and the hardware is all present.
