I was unable to locate any manufacture or date on the furniture other than on the bottom of the chairs which most likely was a re-upholster tag. Although considered common furniture in the 1920s-30s it is an excellent example of detail and craftsmanship. This type of furniture was made by many different manufacturers and sold by many different stores; so finding an exact manufacturer might not be possible. The more common furniture usually was not stamped by any manufacturer. Possibly made from bass wood or common wood. Would like to sell as a group. The cabinet door has an ornate solid drop pull and the drawer has two large decorative bail pulls. The skirt is arched on the side of the piece and there are scalloped brackets on the front. The interior is paneled and has two mounted hooks and 6 sliding hooks on the hanging bar. A very nice piece in remarkable condition for the age(circa 1890) this armoire is certain to become a cherished heirloom. Condition: It has some age appropriate signs of wear including scratches. Antique Pedestal Plant Stand*Smokers Table* by Jamestown Fancy Furniture Co.
Up for bid is this beautiful pedestal table made by Jamestown Fancy Furniture back in the early 1900's. From the information I could find on that company they specialized in smaller furniture pieces including smokers stands. Plant stands, magazine stands, etc. The table measurements are approximately 23 1/2" tall and the top 11 1/2" in diameter and the base 10 1/2" in diameter. I am not positive of the type of wood used but the grain is very pretty. There seems there might be two different woods used for the top/bottom and the pedestal. I'm not an expert but the grains to me look of two different types? I am not sure if the table top or bottom base is solid of that type of wood or if it is wood veneered with that over another type of wood. It seems to be veneered on the bottom sides of the table top and table bottom ... moreas there are two places on the bottom side of the table top where the top layer of an over layer(veneering) has come off at sometime in the past. This is underneath and not noticeable on the top side of the table! I also noted that there is a small area of that veneered bottom layer that appears to be a bit wavy, ever slightly and there are a couple of dabs of something that I had originally thought to be old finish drips. please see pics) There are two spots at the top of the table which I believe are the nail holes for attaching the top to the pedestal. The bottom is attached by a wing nut. see pics) I put Jacobean as the style, I do hope that would be the correct choice on my part! Whatever the case it's a very nice piece. Please look pics over as they are part of the description. Please note: I am not a professional furniture refinisher/restorer and that this pedestal table is an antique and I am also not an antique expert. This piece does show nicks. Antique 3 piece bedroom suite of cottage furniture in my family for over 100 yrs
This is a 3 piece bedroom suite of cottage style with German influence design in hand paintings. Don't know the medium used. It went to Pearl City, Il. from parts east in early to mid 1800s. My Dad was born on the bed in 1898 and my sister in 1932. All 3 pieces have been in constant use since its beginning and still is. The time has come for me to let someone else add to it's history. See all pictures as they show what I am going to print. The dresser is 40" wide, and 76 1/2" high including casters(porcelain& iron) and glove box and mirror. Mirror and glove box are held onto top with wooden pegs going thru holes in marble. Wooden spirals hold mirror in frame, one knob on one spiral is missing part of it, many years ago, break is completely oxidized. Mirror needs resilvering or replaced. I have no key for the locking ... moremechanisms in the drawers. The marble on dresser and wash stand has some scratches and a couple of pits in wash stand stop, no breaks; back edge is rough but not broken. Drawers are dove tailed. One drawer pull recently broke in half and I have repaired it. The wash stand is 32" wide and 30 3/4" high and 18 1/4" deep. Back splash has been missing for at least 80 years. Cupboard is divided into 3 compartments, there is one drawer. The bed accommdates a full size mattress. Scuff marks, scratches and wear marks on on side boards and bottom of legs, general wear overall. The wooden slats are not all original. I offer local pick up only. Antique mail sorter - printer's cabinet - original hardware - furniture
This printer's cabinet/ mail sorter is approximately 7' tall. It is made of oak and is very heavy. All hardware is original and intact. There is a plate on the top front of the cabinet that reads"U.S. PO Dept. 1163" This may have been a mail sorter but could very well have been used in the safe or vault at the post office. The petina of the wood is original. There is a piece of the front leg missing which you can see in the 5th photo above. It does not affect the unit's ability to stand upright. It is very steady and solid. Due to moisture from being stored all these years. There is a bit of bubbling in the wood beginning near the bottom of the back of the piece. There are 28 small drawers and 6 big drawers. It will take two people to move this piece. The research that I have done so far, I have found them to have the style representing those of John Henry Belter. These pieces I believe have the attributes. This is some information that I had found about him online… Original name: Johann Heinrich Belter, Born in 1804 Hilter, near Osnabruck ... moreGermany. He settled in New York in 1833. There in the heart of New York he oversaw his 5- story factory– J. H. Bolter and Co. He later died of a form of tuberclerosis at 59 in New York on Oct. 15 th. 1863. He mostly made Louis XV reproductions and his unique style was known as the early Victorian Rococo pieces. He worked in walnut and mahogany, but his favorite wood was rosewood. Belter was known for his laminated furniture in which thin strips of veneer were glued and pressed together. Then steamed in a mold to produce a curved form. This process made the furniture not only strong, but also beautiful from both sides. This allows more creativity for the artist to be able to do things that have never been able to do before, adding another dimension to their work. He discovered an unusual method of cutting through unusually strong laminated pieces without sacrificing strength and durability. Two measure about 2.5 in diameter and the piece where the screws go measures about 2 inches long and about 1.5 from the top of where one screw goes to the bottom of where the other does. Stamped on the back with A9258DC2. The third measures about 2.25 on the ring and the same on the other measures. Stamped on the back with A9258DC1. Antique French Ormolu Brass Decorative Hardware for Furniture 1900s One piece
An antique decorative embellishment for furniture. Walls, or wardrobes. It made in France and called Ormolu. It measures 38 cm(15 inches) long and 6 cm( 2 3/8 inches) wide. I would think it would be a good piece for at the top of an armoire or even a bookshelf. There are five(5) tiny holes to fix the pieces to wood or whatever you wish to affix it to. Remarkable Antique Double Stacked Colonial Campaign Chest, Military Furniture
Available for purchase is a remarkable piece- an A nti que(circa late 19th Century) Campaign Chest. It appears to be made of teak wood and it is t wo(2) stacked but separate pieces. Th e top drawe r ac tually folds down into a desk with a green leather inset. The desk has multiple compa rtments and drawe rs. Below this fold- out/down desk drawer there are three over two smaller draw ers complet ing the first(t op) piece. The second(bottom) pi ece is made of two larger dr awers- the same size as the desk drawer. Original fl ush brass milit ary handles and accents(corners) and brass c arrying handles o n its sides. Note the gorgeous wood inlay de coration o n the top of the piece. Dovetail draw er construction. Military furniture was mai nly commissioned by the wealthiest officers for use d uring their international travels.
