Offered for your consideration is a gorgeous mid century Danish modern sofa/trundle bed/daybed* This is an exquisite piece with nice lines- solid walnut( frame and original mustard colored upholstery. Beautiful and functional! Use as a sofa and then easily pull out trundle on wheels when needed(lifts to easily unhook from main sofa– and slides out with ease to make a bed) Perfect for overnight guests or as a multifunctional piece in small spaces. Would make a lovely addition to your mid century modern home. This piece is in the style of Peter Hvidt for France and Sons. Very solid. Sturdy, and comfortable. Sofa is stamped Yugoslavia. No other maker's marks. CONDITION: Excellent vintage original condition with normal wear due to age and use. Some minor nicks. Dings, and scratches on wood frame. There is an area of finish loss on front right ... morebottom corner. There are minor‘rub marks’ on back of sofa(on bottom edge) Upholstery does show some signs of wear but definitely in useable condition. There is one small tear(2” on one side of one of the cushions. The cushions are firm– but we did notice that they are breaking down a bit when we unzipped the covers. Please see pictures, as they are part of the description. Intended for dual usage. As a sofa and daybed. T his auction is for the base you see primarily pictured. Not the cushions shown in the last photograph, those are simply used for visual reference, and are actually no good, as the foam inside the cushions had gotten old and has deteriorated and give off a lot of dust residue. Has a few small scratches to the wood frame. But springs and cane side panels are fine. The 2 part sofa is held together by the original threaded screws and is very stable. Features: Unique floating form. Original wool fabric, exposed knuckle joinery, great modernist lines with so much versatility. Age: Circa 1950's- 60's Measurements: 28" H. 52" W, 28" D. Seat height 15" and the armrest height is 20.5" Condition: Good original as found condition being structurally sound and sturdy with signs of age appropriate use as pictured common with vintage furniture including a lot of wear to the wool fabric as pictured. Up for consideration is Convertible Danish Modern Settee Daybed designed by Peter Hvidt for France& Son. The piece measures 31 inches tall by 64 inches long in the up position with a depth of 30 inches. With the arms down the sofa is approximately 94 inches. The seat height is 17 inches. With a click of a button on the back each arm rest folds down into a full flat lounge or daybed. The back cushions double as cushions or pillows on the ends. Surprising the Cushions along the back are tapered or triangular and are comfortable when one rests their head. They have some sort of spring assembly within. Please note that you see don't see this version to often and when you do quite often the cushions are just custom facsimiles.thereof.these are original and what they should look like.no button and tuck etc.or one long cushion. The cushion ... morefit right over the frame of the arm rests. The arm rests are covered in the center with caning on both sides. This material is original and in fine condition meaning no tears or holes. Please note that the caning is rather formidable. Not light and easy to poke through. The piece is labeled with the"FF" monogram and on the inside of the frame it is stamped"Made in Denmark" with the"FF" burnmark. The piece sports it's original teal material. The previous owner was said to have covered it in the late 70's with a zip on slip covers with a large floral heavy textile. The slip covers were removed to reveal this incredible blue teal material. The coloration resembles the close up photo shown as the camera automatically justified a slightly differing color. No visual repairs. all the spring work is fine and ultra clean. This is about as good as it is going to get at be as close to showroom original condition. It isn't perfect but it's pretty close. There is some very light wear commensurate with age. Set of 4 teak legs and 2 pulls from a Peter Hvidt case piece. I have no idea how these were separated but if you are missing some or need to replace pieces I am willing to part out the set. Phenomenal solid teak sofa/ couch designed by Peter Hvidt& Olga Molgaard-Nielsen for legendary manufacturer France and Son. Dating from the late 50s to early 60s. Made in Denmark. Imported and retailed by John Stuart. Inc. Danish Modern design at its finest! Fine quality craftsmanship. Beautiful curvature to the armrests. Gorgeous caned sides and back. The seat section seems to float. A technique used widely by Jalk's contemporary, Finn Juhl. Cushions are not included and must be manufactured. The teak is amazing. Has gorgeous grain patterns and an even patina throughout. The sofa is in overall excellent original vintage condition and shows very little signs of wear. Some slight marks.
