Very rare pieces! Sofa and chair have original upholstery and sit atop two beautiful walnut veneer platforms. Can be arranged in an L shape or showcased separately. There is a built in planter on the chair platform with original plants. Not pictured are 4 throw pillows(minus inserts) and 4 arm covers. The sofa and chair can be easily removed from the platforms for transport or to be re-upholstered if desired. CONDITION: Great vintage condition with normal wear due to age and use. There are scratches and nicks/dings in the walnut veneer due to age and use(most along edges of platforms- most noticeable are pictured) There are also some lighter areas on the platform/table tops and ring marks. There are some scuffs on the black platform underneath the walnut platform. The original upholstery has no rips/tears/holes– it is somewhat worn along the chair upper edges and there is a small black mark on the back of the sofa. It could benefit from a professional cleaning. Would look beautiful reupholstered in the fabric of your choice. The cushion on the seat of the chair is a bit broken down. There are a few broken straps under the chair. But it functions OK. There are 4 zippered throw pillow covers and 4 arm covers included but not pictured. The inside of the planter box is in need of some attention- as the plywood insert has broken in the middle- easily replaced at your local hardware store. Planter box is intact. This is a very nice sofa frame. Suitable for country or formal decor, nice with an English manor house look or Americana. It's all about what you use for upholstery. Right now, as it sits, everything but the springs will need to be replaced. This is the way to buy a sofa. I bought it for the way it sits. ALL of the old camelback sofas from the middle of the 20th century- and earlier- sit like a sofa should sit. I am just fed up with hearing about it's important that a sofa be good for lying down. Folks- if a sofa is any darn good, you won't have to lie down. It should sit so that you can read the paper or read a book for extended periods without needing to lie down or see a chiropractor- or both. Really. This is a standard 7 foot sofa and will need 13 or so yards to cover it, depending on what sort of a pattern you choose. It ... moresits just great, but is worn out. Don't even think about saving any of the stuffing, foam, or whatever. Really. All of these soft goods absorb their surroundings and although I am catching no odors from this piece of furniture, it will have taken on enough of its human- and maybe pet- surrounding over the last 60 plus years that YOUR pets will tune in and that's the end of your beautiful new upholstery. Beautiful Biggs camelback Chippendale sofa built in the early 50's. Purchased new by my mother. It has the original coral damask fabric in good condition for a sofa 50 plus years old. There is some visible wear on the piping at the top where it was against a wall. This sofa still has the biggs labels and numerous brass nail heads(all there) It has a down cushion that is reversible and snaps into the sofa seat. It sits on eight mahogony legs(showing some light surface scratches) The front four are fluted. The legs are strengthened by mahogony stretchers. This is a smaller scale sofa measuring 81" long, 31" deep. The seat is 23' deep and 19" off the floor which varies depending on how high the down cushion is fluffed up. The top of the back is 35" from the floor. The sofa has no synthetic stuffing material being ... morestuffed with curly horse and pig hair.
