RARE Polish Poland antique LION silver plated candlesticks candle holders brass
This is an antique pair of Polish/ Russian Shabbat candle holders. They are silver plated on top of brass. This pair is very rare. And are signed by the maker FABR. WOLSKA inside each of the bobaches. I consider these to be in fine condition. Over the years I have had only a few pairs of this design. But never a pair in such condition. They have full-bodied lions on each of the four sides. The lions are facing head to head with a snake that winds itself onto each of the feet. This pair is very lightweight. Perhaps one pound each. I would say that they retain about 99% of their original plating. I cannot see any traces of brass showing through. The bobaches are original. Each has a slight wobble to them. From over the years having one or two of the feet being bent. But I hesitate to move the feet as I like to keep my antique metalware in as-is ... morecondition. They stand about 13 1/4" high. this is an exquisite pair of antique handmade Asian brass candle stick holders. they are very heavy and made from thick material. it is a matching pair and have a tri-footed leg which are in the shape of stylized dragons. it also has very ornate highly embossed scenes throughout the levels of the piece. and also has 2 detailed handles. it is signed on the botom by maker one measures 9 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches and has a wonderful patina from age. they can also be used for an incense burner. DESCRIPTION: Here is a fine set of antique English brass candlesticks marked with a registration number of Rd 223580. My research tells me that is from 1893. Both have the push up mechanisms but they are stuck and look a little crusty. The sticks themselves look very good considering their age. They came from an estate sale off the mantle of a very fine home. They are not exactly the same height. One is 9-3/4 inches tall and the other is 9-5/8 inches tall. The taller one weighs 15.8 ounces the other weighs 13.7 ounces. The shorter one has more wear to ... morethe beaded edges. Almost worn smooth, and it sits a little off kilter, a little wobble if you will. Some little nicks/dents and expected surface wear. If the push up comes up through it is covered with old crusty wax. The taller one has a bit of dark wax on it's base and you can see the push up coming up the top. Has expected small nicks/dents and surface wear. The cut corner bases are 3-7/16 inches with the taller one being more perfectly square. The other is 1/16 shorter one on side. The candle opening is also a bit wider on the taller one. Overall they make a wonderful antique appearance. Please inspect all 12 photos closely. Use the zoom tool, the pictures are an important part of my description and condition description. Up for sale is a beautiful pair of antique candlestick holders. I believe t hey are white brass but an old price label on the bottom lists them as pewter. They measure just under 9.5" tall and feature a very unusual clam shell base. Twisted stems and top plate with holes where you can hang prisms if you'd like. Although I love the look of these without. The y maintain an untouched patina. But I think they would polish up a bit if you want them to. There was an old glob of wa x on the top plate and when i removed it a shinier surface was discovered beneath as shown in the last photo. They show a bit of wear. And one of them doesn't sit 100% flat on the base. But overall this is an outstanding pair of antique candlesticks that would compliment any home or collection. They are unmarked. Each girandole weighs almost 3 pounds. The brass/bronze has an aged patina. I see flipper here.But other folks say they just don't see it. It's coming from a local estate that had alot of items from the 1920s thru the 1930s and the majority all had a flare for deco. Made of brass it stands 13 1/2" tall the body is 1 3/8" wide and the base is 5" wide and 6" deep. It isn't marked with a mfg. logo that would make my life alot easier. It holds 5 3/4" candles. I was told these candlesticks are brass but on the outside they have a copper tone to their color so I am not exactly sure what they are made of. On the inside and under the bottoms they have a yellow brass color. A light magnet does not react to them. They have some areas with a green patina on them. The patina is heaviest in the inside of the wax catchers and along the bases. They come in four pieces per candlestick. These pieces can be mixed and matched to allow you to have four candlesticks at approx. 13 inches high. Or four at approx. 19 3/8" high or two at approx. 25 5/8" high. You can also put them together to form one candlestick approx. 38 3/8" The drip catchers can be installed or removed. There are a total of 16 pieces in the whole set: four bases, four drip catcher bowls, four center pieces, and four top pieces ... morethat hold the candle. The candle opening at the top is approx. 1 3/4 inches. The pieces are threaded and can be arranged in several different configurations. The markings on these candlesticks appear(to me- AND I AM IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM A CANDLESTICK OR ANTIQUE EXPERT) to be hand made. The marks are not quite as evenly depthed or as aligned as I would expect from a machine.The candlesticks are hollow throughout the center. I would imagine someone handy could make lamps or a smoking pipe out of them. I got them from an estate In Galveston, Texas and I can say that I personally saw them in this same home at least 30 years ago. I belive I have described these candlesticks as accurately as I can. Pr Antique Victorian wall sconce brass candle holders
Offered for auction are these wonderful brass wall sconce candle holders. The sconces fit into the wall mountings with a pin and can be rotated to fit against the wall or stand out 90 degrees from the wall. Most of the parts unscrew and the design looks to be an older design but made in the 1800's. The sconces stand from the wall about 8" and are 7" tall.
